That makes sense. Why risk sending soldiers there when you can just get rid of the mines along with those terrorists. Now you've mentioned this I was reminded of that satellite used by a villain in an old Bond movie to clear mines to allow his army to come in more easily.

Yes we know that. The better question would be, should America have allowed the Soviets to conquer Afghanistan? This is not the first time America intervened to stop an invasion. Remember when Saddam Hussein tried to invade Kuwait and Saudi Arabia?
