I'm pretty sure that attempts to scale Bitcoin are now dead and buried and people wanting quick transactions with low fees will migrate to alts. Bitcoin will become a financial instrument like gold, and won't be used for commerce, so it won't matter if the fees are high or if there is a backlog in the mempool.

Quick low-fee transactions will be built on top of Bitcoin's digital gold, making the network all that more valuable the way nature intended Wink
