because almost all ICO recommend using myetherwallet and it can also stored erc20 tokens. Im using this wallet for a long time now and it safe for me, always use bookmark to avoid phishing sites.

For ERC20 tokens they would recommend using a myetherwallet address because it supports most of the tokens created through smart contract.

But if its about safety for saving money, go for a hardware wallet and that's more reliable and better than MEW wallet.

It may cost some money but it's definitely worth it for a newbie that doesn't have an idea on how to keep his coins.
