Wireless communication can hardly be characterised as phased out.

The Internet is a system of interconnected networks. The Internet as a whole doesnt care whether a given part thereof runs on copper, fibre, wireless or avian. Thats why we have the lower layers of the OSI model.

And security is built into the blockchain, although Ill admit that wireless links are in some aspects more (although, on the other hand, in some aspects less) vulnerable to e.g. denial-of-service attacks than fixed networks.
