I wouldn't say it isn't a correct decision if they get a huge profit from it. Probably these people are into short-term investments where they can get higher profit from these kinds of altcoin. This kind of investment is very risky but if you timed it right, You can get 1000x+ profit in a very short timer or you end up bag holding worthless token if you messed up on the timing.

I think you should focus on your goal. From that, you can evaluate how much money you wanted to invest, what altcoin you will buy, and the length of holding until you sell your coins.

For example, if you are aiming for a 1 million dollar profit in 5 years but you are only investing $1000 then I think you won't get your planned result if you invest them on ETH or BTC since I don't think you can get 100000% return just by holding them in 5 years.
