We never know how the company or the boss will weight things up and give a chance
for the employee to stay away from his gambling involvement.

Maybe for a boss who really cares about the welfare of his employees, he will always ask how they are and try to be close to them so that if something goes wrong, the boss will immediately know and provide assistance. But not all bosses can act like that because bosses don't want to know what's going on with their employees and only think about the company. If the employee gets into trouble, the boss will not care and immediately fire the employee if they can't do a good job. It has happened everywhere and many employees have been fired by their bosses.
