If they were profitable there was not reason to do this. Obviously.
We can't really know for sure. They might have been unprofitable, or maybe not. They ran some decent promotions on the forum and gave the impression that they had enough funds, up until the very end.
Ever since I joined this forum, I've read about some popular and long-lasting gambling platforms like YoloDice and Luckybit that shut down. It's not uncommon in the gambling world. But the owners of those platforms did the right thing, announcing the closure in advance, giving users time to withdraw their funds, and then closing down. Betnomi's owner, on the other hand, just disappeared without a word. Looks more like an exit scam to me rather than simply going bankrupt. But that's just my opinion.
It is an obvious exit scam, in my opinion. Giving people time to withdraw their money is the ABC of running a business which deals with other's funds.
I wonder whether police or authorities of any sort will somehow get involved and pursue the person behind all this, this is not an usual low profile scam, after all, we are talking about a casino stealing money for no apparent reason at first glance...
This would make anyone think twice before venturing into new services or even casinos of medium size...
For authorities to get involved, someone has to press charges. So far I have only seen 1 scam accusation pop up and not sure if that user has considered the police route. I'm sure some personal information could be found if companies were served warrants for personal information. Credit card companies or whomever sold the domain for example.
