It's just a general thing. For someone to get corrected when they are wrong in their actions, they must first acknowledge that they were wrong before they will accept the advice you are giving them; otherwise, you are just beating around the bush, and they will still do whatever they have on their mind the moment you just let them go. There was this friend of mine in school who was so addicted to gambling that his parents tried a lot of strategies to help him get out of this addiction, but every attempt was futile, and I know the problem the guy has is that he has not really realized that his habit towards gambling is so terrible; only if he realizes it, then he will limit how he gambles.

Without realizing the mistake there's nothing to expect from the person but to continue playing, they will keep on doing the same routine even their love ones are trying their best to help, though we really can't say whether the person will realize his own mistake and will try to help himself, from that realization sooner or later the help that you are sending will be appreciated and will start to manifest.

Just keep trying if you really love the person and you really wanted to help with the addiction that the person possesses.

I understand this quite well and some people can't think for themselves because they are weak in mind, they need others to think for them at times and also guide and advise them. A greater percentage of gamblers still control themselves, if not, it could have been worse, it's a few that are having issues with irresponsible gambling and addiction which they cannot control. The solution to their issues is to either try to correct/advise them or get external help for them. The choice in either case depends on the person in question and the status of the situation. It would have been best if gamblers could correct and control themselves, it won't get worse in that case. Gamblers should start by being disciplined and be conscious of what they are doing. They should have plans for their gambling pattern and should not allow losses to affect them, and also get rid of the mindset that they will be rich through gambling.

I like what you say, it is true about the weak mentality, it is not something that can be worth carrying always, especially when it is with a casino, a player should always control his emotions and not allow the emotions to be above his person Here in these cases what should be done is that when there is a lot of danger of doing things wrong, then stop and wait, not jump in, because I have played like that and when I get carried away by emotions and I mess up more and lose or so I won, I feel that I have been irresponsible , because I have risked more than I should have and that is not the idea, I mean doing things in a controlled manner and not risking too much.

With that mentality is very difficult not just to gamble responsibly but actually to do anything in life other than failing over and over until a decision to take the reins of your life is taken. Some people have traumas and problems and it is much more difficult for them to self-control and to be self-aware of what they are doing. But I would say most people are either unwilling to progress or to lazy to do so.
