Maintaining privacy these days has become very difficult because doing almost anything online requires the submission of personal information. The goal of Bitcoin is to promote privacy but the government is doing everything possible to make this privilege a scarce commodity. Many privacy promotion services have been classified as facilitators of money laundering and terrorism financing. This has led to a crackdown on these services leaving people with few options to maintain privacy.

Honestly, the main reason I like bitcoin is because of its volatility because I can leverage it to make money, but I also really like the privacy it offers. I don't hate banks and still save for emergencies, but I don't dare to deposit too much or all of my assets there, I don't feel secure and don't trust enough when entrusting my assets to anyone. I always wanted to preserve my assets myself but it was too cumbersome when they were in physical form and bitcoin really helped me solve that problem.

I agree with you that the government is getting stricter about privacy and it is becoming a scarce commodity but I won't blame them because not everyone uses privacy for the right purpose. Governments have a reason to try to control privacy because otherwise crime would be more rampant and our world would be more unstable. It can be said that decentralization and privacy are like a double-edged sword, depending on who uses it for what purpose.
