Expanding the network of friends and also business, that is the most important reason why land-based casinos are in great demand.
There are more and more wealthy people who come to land-based casinos not just to play, but while looking for and meeting their co-workers to discuss larger businesses.

I have seen rich people doing their transactions inside the casinos, maybe they feel safe specially if they are going to buy expensive Rolex watch. And most likely if this buyers prefer the casinos, for sure they have at least at one point in time have been playing their and they feel comfortable meeting clients and co-workers and would be buyers.

It's just the proliferation of online casinos that might bother governments though. Just imagine if half of the population are gambling online, it might have a bad effect on the country itself. And probably this is the main reason, why some countries are making it hard for online casinos to thrive.
