I've seen some users who got tagged as spammers (even if it's just neutral tags) and I believe nothing is permanent you know? There's always a chance they can improve their posting style and be more engaging here.
With the efforts of DT members and mods keeping the forum clean and the competent signature campaign managers who don't just accept anyone anymore I think low-quality posters are starting to realize they need to step up their game. What's your take on this? Can they change or is a spammer always a spammer for life?
Yes they can, I've seen some accounts in the forum,( can't really point them out) but these accounts are just there for one purpose and it's to spam. They keep posting thread or replies that has no connection to the topic in discussion or the board in question. And to me these spammers cannot be stop they just don't give up. I used to wonder why spammers don't get banned but tagged instead. Well I got to know that they will simply create a new account even after being banned so it's just like a waste of time.
I think that the best strategy to deal with spammers is to ignore them. There's a block button for a reason. We don't even need mods for this, just block any user you don't like and move on. Heck, you don't even need to block anyone when you can just ignore their existence.
It's easier to add someone to your ignore list though, that way you don't get to see any post created by them. But their spamming doesn't only affect you but other members of the forum that's why the tag button is used on such account.
