Sometimes there are companies that do not pay their workers on holidays, in fact I think only a few companies pay their workers on holidays and those who get it are very lucky to be paid even outside of their working days.
Are there any differences between countries, and have you worked for any companies or businesses? Because I have worked for many companies before and most of them pay salary + bonus for employees who work on holidays. Or on big holidays like national holidays, we get paid 3-5 times the normal salary. I don't think that if a company or business doesn't pay higher wages or decent bonuses, people will want to work for them.
That’s the way it’s done at least, no company or organization that employs labor would keep you away from the holidays without giving some of those festivity to their employees themselves. It must not necessarily be that your paid double or triple of your salary or wages. It could be some increments as bonuses either in monetary form or some products that could help you enjoy the season. It would be wrong should all the industries or organizations shutdown just to observe some holidays. What’s obtainable is a reduction in work force as these are essential services that are needed to enjoy even the holidays it’s self not to mention, it all contributes to the economy.
