Carbs != carbs, though (actually refering to @Torque's posts from the last days).
Also, protein and fat sources are subject to quality.

Overthink your carb sources. Whole grain flours are richer in phytates, which block most nutrients of the grain core to be absorbed by the body. This will likely be compensated by other nutrient sources, but why keep out the good stuff we originally want to enter our system?

Everyone has the liberty to choose what he/she want to eat. The point need to be kept in mind is that it's your mouth that will decide how your entire body will be like. You eat healthy things, your body remain healthy and vice versa. Just like you put bad fuel in your car, the engine broke down. It's also a reality that most of us don't take necessary precautions in advance unless we develop some kind of disorder. So it's up to everyone of us that which track we want to follow as nobody is stopping us.

I am not convinced that you or anyone else has really explained what is the meaningful and/or significant difference between the kind of crust (or is it the crust or other ingredients) of your own homemade pizzas as compared with pizzas that you might get in restaurants.

Of course, the crust seems to be the main ingredient that would screw with blood sugar .. and surely there could be differing kinds of oils in restaurant pizzas too.. .. or did we hear someone (was it vroom?) who suggested to add sugar in order to help out your pizza?  hahahahaha.. sugar was the thing that I thought that we were attempting to moderate when it came to whether some of us might be able to indulge in pizzas from time to time without killing ourselves more quickly than necessary.

White flour (or plain flour), Olive oil, sugar, yeast and salt, that's what I used at home for making pizza crust. Fast food restaurants main goal is do develop taste which people like and for that they used different processed things. The quantity of sugar added in pizza crust at restaurant is enormous to raise the crust. I do add sugar but in moderate quantity.
Rest the topping includes mainly cheese along with vegetables, so they have much to do with increasing your blood sugar.

In my opinion, it's the walking that helps you the most.

I'm not a diabetic and no one in my family ever had this problem, but I have made it a habit to walk at least 10 km / day. Been doing it for the last 25 years. My A1C = 4.6 steady, and has been like this forever. My morning blood pressure is steady at 11/7. I don't take any medication. I eat anything I like, even "unhealthy" foods (pizzas, burgers, sweets) on occasion (not regularly).

Keep walking. It's probably the best exercise you can do to your body.

Yes I remember you told that you don't have any diabetes. To me this is the fantastic approach towards your health that even you don't have developed any disorder in your body still you do necessary precautions to keep yourself fit. Keeping yourself away from junk is the biggest challenge these days specially for kids. If you are successful in keeping yourself away from Junk then you need an applause for doing the real hard work.
