I would call it gambling with other people's money if you get the money by steal it or found it somewhere.

If you borrowing someone's money, that money is yours, so you're gamble with your own money because you have to pay it.

It also raise suspicion or less trustworthy, because when someone trying to offer something without being asked, people might see them as a scammer. Let's say you work as an insurance agent, if you meet with your friends and you trying to sell insurance plan, it's high likely they will avoid to met you in the future.

What you need is act like a friends, no need to hard selling, wait until they interested or they reach you about insurance.
