They got rich by many ways and they never tell you all truth about their rich journey. People can get rich with Bitcoin investment, hold it in many years and are billionaires now, but it's different with altcoins. Investment or trading, there are many conditions to succceed. You must have good personal traits for trading or investment, then have good knowledge about the market in general and projects you are intending to invest money in, and you need very disciplined practice as well as luckiness too.
