As a guidian to numerous kids in my society, peer pressure is beyond a pressure it's a lifestyle battle for children. Few hours ago, while on a walk, I met four kids heading to swim in a natural pond, which was on same direction to my location, when they got there, one refused to swim, the other three enjoyed their moment while he watched but after a few minutes the child who sat on the shores left and went home.

Get this point, the other 3 didn't brag about being better swimmers, but the other child wasn't feeling cool about not jumping into the water like his friends did, and knows that sooner they'll begin to discuss about that and chose to leave or go home.

That's what this does to kids it makes them feel unfulfilled at a given time, and if he can't avoid their company, he'd have to join in the swimming someday, which is risky, because the pond is in a lonely part of the county and nobody would rescue them if any danger comes up. Though I don't wish they get hurt.

Exactly, sometimes parental upbringing matters alot, when I was small my dad warned me that anyday he hears that I went to our river that he beat me. One day I decided to go against his orders, that day he wiped me so heard that I pee on my cloth, ever since I never deared go back. Though will I say it affected me because that fear alone made me not to know how to swim

when we are young, the desire to belong to a group of people is very strong because we are still trying to look for our identity and being in groups helps us find it but when we are grown adults we will be confident with our own identity and will no longer be pressured by other peers

I agree with you on this, I visited a rehabilitation centre and from the research conducted on the clients inside the rehabilitation center, those abusing hard drugs was that their friend made them started taking it, we asked them why didn't they resist they said the drugs are always available and their friends keep pressuring them to taste it.

Like the a saying goes " it's easy to start something but stopping it is always a problem" peer pressure have cause so many pains in the family and society at large. Illicit drugs intake is part of the consequences of peer pressure, homosexual, womanizing and all the rest. When I was in the boarding school I will say I so much thank God for delivering me. There was this group of friends I was following then, i didn't know all of them smokes, you the setting of government school. One day I met them taking dried plantain leaf, I was like wat are you guys doing, they started laughing at me. One even called me a jew guy, just like play like play I started taking it with them, from there I started taking cigarettes. One day my mum caught me and she dealt with me mercilessly. I avoided those friends and that is what actually saved me. Although everything lies in the mind, your ability to say No and keep to it gives someone the ability to overcome peer pressure.
