Gambling for more than 10 years without any gain is enough to tell them that gambling is not for profit making but rather for fun, and anybody who gambles should do that with funds they could afford to lose, and also they should do away with the mindset and mentality of gambling as a source of income otherwise it is the beginning of their way to addiction.

As for your friend, he may be addicted to gambling, looking at the fact that he made such a statement, and hoping to achieve those statements he has made through gambling is unrealistic to say. You just have to help him immediately, otherwise it might be worse than what we are discussing here.

The earlier you talk to him about the principles of gambling, the better; otherwise, he might be doing this, thinking he is helping himself, but the reality is that he is doing more harm than good to himself, thinking he wants to help himself through gambling.

I would hope that after 1 year of losses the message would be clear that things are not
working too well!

And its so easy for a lot of people to believe that they can get rich from gambling, in
theory it seems quite easy and thats the appeal of gambling, the mindset that
"anyone can do it".

There certainly are people doing it but I would love to know their story, did they go
through many years of losses or did they have a certain approach right from
the start?

There is a very good chance that the OP's friend wont listen to him.
