Most often it is safer to save your secret key on a hardware, that way you will be able to easily retrieve it when needed especially if you have it safe enough that the hardware is in a secured position, saving your secret key on a device keeps it at risk of compromise such that it can be compromised if some other person gains access to your devices, they can get your key and you will not be aware, so apart from situations like this where you got a file deleted, you can still loose your file by compromise on your system.

My experience was similar to this but in my case the file in which I wrote the secret key was lost and all effort to find it was abortive and I lost the wallet and all of the coin I had in it, since then I have learned to carefully keep my key whenever I have them.

That’s a really tough experience and it clearly shows why securing private keys should always be taken seriously because once they are lost or compromised there is almost no way to get access back unlike with banks or centralized platforms where you can recover your account, many people underestimate the risk of storing keys on their computer phone or even in cloud storage because while it feels convenient those devices are always vulnerable to malware hacks accidental deletion or even just someone else gaining access without you realizing it and by the time you notice it’s already too late, that’s why using a hardware wallet or writing down the seed phrase and keeping it in a very safe and secure location like a lockbox or safe is often the best practice to minimize those risks.

Mistakes do happen yet we cant be that really perfect on which means that it will be that up to us on how we would be making out those adjustments at the time that we do learn up something new. Never ever make yourself that trying out to make yourself that naive when it comes into this aspect because if you do keep on repeating on the same mistakes all over again and again then this do proves out that you are just that simply trying out to be not sensible into the things that you've been dealing into.
