5. run setup/install as a fresh one, install it to the same natural directory as it was before (dont change), it'll install the new wallet files into that folder where your original wallet.dat is sitting

7. run the debug window under 'help' and copy/part some < addnode "xxxxxxxx" add > numbers in there, like 4-5 of them individually and wait a bit...it'll then sync up (right now it's stuck at 99% at the end due to traffic)

My wallet is syncing now. I just deleted and grabbed the zipped version instead of the installer and it seems to be working now.
