any idea or clue of exchanges

After website goes live, we will focus on exchanges Smiley

Best to workout the wallet bugs before it gets listed. No exchange wants a liability to keep fixing, that was just listed/released.
I agree with this. It's been pretty terrible trying to move coins around, especially during the original transaction size crunch. It's "worked" for now, enough for miners and pool operators to function. Hopefully now that everything has worked out with the hardfork the wallets user experience (ie. not constantly producing errors) can be improved.

I wish the developer would involve more community members to help out with stuff like the website launch.

one thing i just noticed: in the windows wallet, the currency is abbreviated as "IRD", but on the first post you state the ticker symbol is "IDR"..

typo or on purpose?

[edit: typo  Grin]

Haha, that's a typo. Fixed Wink

I think it's important to have a clearly graphical presentation in our 1st post.
Maybe this king of thing can help ?

I will post a full graphical post when I have the permissions to post images. Smiley
You should link it at least, so pools and other sites can begin posting it, at least.

Hi Dev! What are your plans to enter the exchange?

We need funds first, after development on basics such as block explorer is complete, we will hold a fundraising session and discuss what exchanges you'd like to see Iridium on.

Yes please focus on groundwork development first.  This coin is like a day old.  You will get 50 people asking you about exchanges in the next few weeks - just tell them that is part of the roadmap, and don't let it bother you.  Good development trumps rushing to an exchange.

Agreed, but I would highly recommend starting a slack channel besides Discord because Slack is a great way to connect everyone interested in the project together, mobile especially as well. Like Krypt said, groundwork development most important, then exchanges.

Slack huh? Never used it but it sounds useful. But it seems it just does the same thing as discord? And I will be much more active on discord, since it's also for mobile.
Slack has mobile as well. They provide the same type of service. Discord is more feature rich. Demographically speaking more people on this forum use Slack since it's more business-oriented whereas Discord is targeted at gamers.

Did you specify the right wallet address when you started mining?
The simple-wallet for Windows doesn't work properly, and can only generate an address. Use the Linux version of the wallet to see your balance and be able to send and make transactions. I'm working on a fix now, shouldn't be too much longer.
FYI the "1.0.0" src release on GitHub didn't work for me, I had to pull from the latest master. Please also look into that CMake library link order fix. Please start a slack/telegram group and at very least throw up a basic website landing page so you can establish an internet footprint beyond the github repo and this thread.

Hi,
I'm trying to mine on windows using the daemon, followed the instructions here in the forum and everything seem to work just fine.
I left it mining something like ten hours and it shows that it finds blocks every now and then (mining with dual xeon) but when I check the wallet balance it say that it's empty.
Tried also on a second machine and same result. Is there something wrong with windows mining?
Wouldn't it have been clever if sls hardcoded his own wallet into his Windows binaries? Wink

edit: dev confirmed windows simple_wallet is broken

I've found 2 blocks so far on my puny i3.

Do you get any output showing in your console before a block is found? Or is the only output when a block is found?
I just see transaction deposits in my wallet after they get found. Eg...

[wallet ir3yCX]: Height 1158, transaction 1efa937cddeb9160f9bb59b0367154d9613316706bf8880c4b9931b0a586432f, received 94.94708200
Height 1160, transaction a972e943a496130db411d01235cdbe3c8d17a4b009fb2a0e38d37f8973e9dfbb, received 94.94635761
Height 1176, transaction 9d27be85956f7faf3643784d6fe12bf2fb16ff590ec05537e0f3a13f3a70b67a, received 94.94056271
...

Additionally I had issues compiling the src, I had to apply this modification to get it to work: https://github.com/ANBAL534/MonetaryEquivalentCurrency/commit/8d0766a93ecc767db9da3cbd3c86c0a345386921

I was mining before the seeds were restarted and I was findng blocks. I stopped it because it didn't seem like it was actually doing anything without the seed nodes. Now that the seed nodes are on again, my miner isn't doing anything; it's stuck on the below. Is anyone else finding blocks?

13:52:28.505112 INFO Mining has started with 1 threads, good luck!

You need the following packages from Ubuntu if you're running Debian. Debian does not offer libboost 1.58, it offers later and earlier versions though (the developer should pick a more widely supported version, or static compile it).

Method 1: Download the .deb files for the architecture, install them manually with sudo dpkg -i
https://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial-updates/libboost-system1.58.0
https://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial-updates/libboost-filesystem1.58.0
https://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial-updates/libs/libboost-program-options1.58.0

Method 2: Add the repository to Debian

Add the below to /etc/apt/preferences:
Package: *
Pin: release n=xenial-updates
Pin-Priority: 100

Add the below to /etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu xenial-updates main

Run the below:
sudo apt-get update (it will complain about missing keys)
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libboost-system1.58.0 libboost-filesystem1.58.0 libboost-program-options1.58.0

Please note that this cryptocurrency is actively spamming people on Twitter. This is a bearish trend and I suggest avoiding this blockchain.

You do realise that the devs here dont like it either but there is not much they can do as they cant to censor twitter
Are you implying that just some random STRATIS holder is paying to spam this crypto?

Newbie account coming to spread more FUD. You should've bought in when the price was lower. The market isn't going to cater to you now.
Actually I'm just annoyed I've been spammed on twitter 3 times with the same message over the past like two days. Enjoy your STRATIS, I've never even heard of it before.

None of this changes the fact that someone actively paying to spam a coin is a bearish trend, implies a near future dump. Don't spam me again and I won't FUD up your thread Wink

In general, is the average crypto miners and investors more risk seekers than risk averse. Do you like to gamble, is the thrill of winning worth more than the fear of losing money for you?

I am getting a lot of flak from my wife and friends for investing and mining coins, are you people getting the same objection from family and friends  Cheesy
I believe the term is "speculation".

Buying altcoins should rarely if ever be considered an "investment".

I'm a system administrator with over 10 years experience this means I specialize in everything about the internet. My top areas are server administration (Linux), security, and integration. I'm also a jack of all trades and a half-decent coder.

Looking for gig work and I'm offering competitive rates (I'm hungry and want to hustle). No job is too small and if you think you can't afford me: ask anyways

Let me get this straight, you guys are going to compete with Unity? Or does the "easy to use" part imply that it's a step above Minecraft's "creative mode"?

But before that you're going to create a cryptocurrency, for use on your asset store for your game engine.

Clearly no one in the actual video game industry is talking about this, or frankly cares.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I have a hard time imagining people who know what's going on in the VR/video game market taking this currency seriously.

Not entirely true. Free Software is a necessary but not a sufficient condition for freedom. A good general counter example is Tivoization https://www.gnu.org/licenses/rms-why-gplv3.en.html. For crypto currencies such as Monero an incredible amount of effort is needed to mitigate against, minimize and ideally eliminate any form of centralized control. This is required for freedom, in addition to Free Software.

The GUI will be released when it is ready for release, not before. The same can be said for a host of Monero's Design and Development goals.  https://getmonero.org/design-goals/, for example RingCT.

As for timelines well that really belongs in the area of speculation. Software development timelines are inherently unpredictable under the best of circumstances. Add to this that the Monero project is a Free Libre Open Source Project funded entirely by donations of: 1) Talent, time, and other in kind donations, 2) Funds or 3) A combination of 1) and 2) and timelines become even more unpredictable.

Edit: The FLOSS funding above is really the best and likely the only way in crypto currency if one wants to avoid serious government regulatory risk.
