Re: Why are African businessmen not bullish in advocating for Bitcoin?
by
Bravethug
on 11/03/2025, 22:50:52 UTC
We don't even need to ask why Dangote is not using or investing on Bitcoin because is simple that he doesn't want to invest on Bitcoin, however how could you expect a businessman to go and advice the nation why they need to have a Bitcoin reserve, he could obviously be putting his business at risk considering the hatred the government has for it, so even if i was in the place of Dangote I will keep my interest on Bitcoin very private because if you create an awareness that would influence the government ethics they will bring your business down before you could even think of that.

This statement is on the right track, dangote is a business man that's making sure his business grows more so there are something's we don't expect him to do, government have interest, so any business man that really want to thrive in any country  must be careful in what they suggest or advise the government to do, in as much as i support bitcoin reserve in our dear country, I will still have to state it clear that bitcoin reserve is not the major problem we have currently, we gat a non working economy to fix so I believe we should start from somewhere first, bitcoin reserve is good for this country but dangote has got some issues with this government form the beginning and to that effect he can't take such step because he understand the danger that may be accompanied with such stand if he does, he may personally be a holder or major investor in bitcoin investment however, such investment will remain secret for the safety of safety of his businesses sparead across this country, so we shouldn't expect anything from him in the aspect of bitcoin for these reasons that has been stayed already.

Re: MarryWithBTC: How I Wan Pay My Bride Price with Bitcoin.

Wetin dey, my Bitcoin family!

I dey go by di name "MarryWithBTC," and no be lie, di name get weight! Dis year, by Baba God grace, I wan do something wey fit make me enter Bitcoin history—I wan pay my bride price with Bitcoin!
If you just want make name to enter history books as the first person ever to pay pride prize in Bitcoin, no wahala, I no go talk you out of it. But remember say when you go down this path, you go breach your privacy and also the message wey you go send to people be say you get enough Bitcoin. With the insecurity issues wey dey awa country, you fit end up making yourself potential target for robbery. So this action of yours fit make you famous and at the same time bring you misery and regrets.

I think the op should consider some things before embarking on such journey, one thing the op should consider is whether the parents of the bride is even aware of bitcoin to even accept it in the first place, another thing to consider is the unnecessary exposure of privacy, the country we are, is been governed by gullible minds who are after hunting down anyone suspected to by either a bitcoiner or crypto person because of their inability to differentiate between fraudsters and legitimate tech guys, so for me there are things that are unnecessary considering the county we find ourselves in.
Just as you said,  if he decides to do this, it may be a history created by him at the same time, he may be queried for it and may end up blaming himself for taking such decision, there's nothing bad in what the op has decided to do but the problem is just the country and how timid minded people can be because of lack of awareness and unavailability of the right information about technologically related innovation.

Re: Nigeria needs Bitcoin national reserves
by

on 09/03/2025, 11:45:25 UTC
The western countries that are holding Nigeria by the Jugular and intentionally keeping the country in poverty so that we can keep depending on them for aids will not like Nigeria to do this. The caliber of leaders will have not will intentionally frustrate talks of accepting bitcoin for anything in Nigeria. Most of them are not forward thinking. Before we should think about Nigeria having a reserve of bitcoin it should be in about 20 years time after countries like America, has gone far ahead in doing so. At the moment let the country first deal with its security issuses that are everywhere before they even think of anything reserve of bitcoin.

I concur to what you have written but one thing is for sure and thats western can not accomplish all these illed plan of theirs on our dear country without the help of Nigerian people, we have always been our own problem, since Nigerian said the have gotten independent till now which president have even managed to build the country to that level we can say he ruled without having selfish motives, we have gone from worst to worst, just imagine the recent increment of data and call airtime from telecommunication companies in our dear country and nothing has happened, the Nigerian labour Congress is mute probably because they are benefiting from the said system, the western country nation understands that a house thats in disarray can not stand so they act on the brain of our leaders so that they will indirectly get at the whole country.

We have shallow mimded people in government so am not expecting any positive talks about bitcoin from them, though I believe that a day will come when we will have a leader who's a bitcoin believer that will make things change drastically in thing relating to bitcoin, so as for bitcoin being a national is a good thing but actualising is where the problem lies but with time am sure we will get their, just a mater of time.

Re: A man shot himself on live stream after Losing his money to a menacing rug

This stuff is getting way at of hand , there are too many rug pulling now and days especially in solana meme coin, that’s why kept telling folks to stay away from meme coin trading, especially if you know that you can’t handle losses , the painful truth is that there still project at there that are getting ready to rug some folks of their funds .
This space is not a friendly place you can make money from it you can also lose from it .there might be other reasons added why he took his life but still memes trading not advisable at all, and please be safe at there.

The worst thing that could happen to anyone is losing a huge fund, getting involved with cryptocurrency requires a lot of emotional intelligence to be able to make informed decisions in term of losses. There are a lot of wolves in sheep's clothing waiting to take advantage of unsuspecting traders and we all must be careful out there. It's quite unfortunate that he had to take his own life which obviously wasn't the best way to handle the loss. Crypto is definitely not for people who can't handle losses, it's just very devastating to hear that someone lost their hard earned money and losing their lives too. People should stop putting all of their funds in meme coins or any other shit coins, even in Bitcoin that has been recognized all over the world we still use safe strategy to invest, talk more of other coins that has no meaningful history.

In as much as we are aware that this things can happen to anybody, am of the opinion that people should stop taking this kind of risk that may lead them to unbearable loss, for such individual to consider taking his own life, it means he took a risk that is beyond what he can bear, why didn't he consider investing in bitcoin that has more trust than taking such uncalculated risk, I think may be doesn't have a good knowledge of bitcoin or he was chasing quick money may be thats the reason why he became a victim of such but there's no justification for anyone to take his or her own life just because they lost some amount of money that he or she may even get back in the future that's too bad, as a person that has interest or person that's already in the crypto industry, you must be very observant or careful to know when dubious elements want to strike, this is the reason why it is not even in any way advisable for anyone to invest in any other coin apart from bitcoin, am so pained about this kind of ugly event but it should also serve as a lesson to many people in the crypto industry.

I don't think emergency funds are that necessary when someone has stable sources of income. For example, when someone is a wage earner or salary earner, their income can simply serve as emergency funds if they plan well. The reason why I feel someone needs emergency funds is when they don't have stable sources of income. These are the people who need emergency funds in case anything comes up in the future. This way, they won’t need to dip into their investment funds. However, as long as someone has stable sources of income, those incomes can serve as emergency funds. The only thing is that if someone wants to enjoy Bitcoin investment, they should use the DCA (Dollar Cost Averaging) method and avoid buying all at once.

With little understandimg I have gotten about emergency fund, I think emergency funds are funds set aside for unexpected occurrence so I don't know how salary or wage as you've said can serve it's purpose may be am confused and I will be very happy if you explain it for me in details, I understand that as a newbie we don't necessarily need Emergency fund from the begining but going by the rules of bitcoin investment we ought to have this emergency fund ready because it helps us not to think of our investment as an option to solve any emergency problem that may occur during our accumulation process, as a newbie I understand that despite how sufficient my source of income is, at a time I have to got some emergency funds if I want to avoid the temptation of seeing my investment as alternative to solve any sudden occurrence, I think sufficient and multiple source of income helps us to intensify our DCA or approach our DCA aggressively with consistency at ease.

Re: Trump coin safe or not?

It is better to see Shitcoin as Shitcoin, it does not matter who invented it or who is promoting it. If you want to put your money at high risk and gamble with your money, then you can buy that coin. But I would never advise you to buy Shitcoin. Because the possibility of long-term returns is very low. If you value your money, then you should buy Bitcoin, there is a much greater possibility of profit in the long term.

Normally this coin should be what it is which is shitcoin as you said, unless for people that doesn't know much about them, with the information I have gathered so far there is no way I will be mistaking shitcoin for another thing, I don't think the that the person that bought them to the limelight matters, what matters is the aithencity and the longivity of the project, once the project does not have future then it doesn't worth risking for, my major problem with some person is greed, the believe in involving in anything that has to do with risk which is very bad, firt and foremost I believe in talking risk but I must know what I want to risk for, people should understand that it can only be bitcoin  if they really want the future of their investment in the digital investment to be secured. Though everyone is entitled to their decision or whatever they want but the thing is we must becareful at all time to read in between the lines on which path to take

Re: Knowledge plays a vital role in this space
by

on 22/10/2024, 08:14:33 UTC

Don't think that this space is all about Airdrops and tap to earn , is more than that , but you won't be able make good use of the opportunity in it if you lacks knowledge on how it works.  That's why you have  to make good use of your time here to keep learning because they are alot of knowledgeable users here , and beside google is always there to assist you , so leave that comfort and start Doing your own  research it would help to make things move smoother.

It's more reason why I keep trying to advice people here on the forum that being a member of BitcoinTalk and having grown your account is a huge advantage compared to anyone else out there trying to learn crypto. You learn at the same time manage to use your knowledge to earn. Without knowledge you won't grow that's how I know that accounts here on the forum whom have ranked up are people with knowledge of the crypto space. I like the quote from cz as it actually portrays a lot. Learn before your earn. Some people just jump into the crypto space because of how they overheard someone making good amount of money. They didn't bother asking what was his first approach to this before he had made it.

That's just the fact, ordinary as a person you don't to reap when you have not sowed, every success have a story, knowledge has a lot do with individual crypto activity and I so much believe that if you must grow in this space you must undergo some level of learning and experience, as a person who is still growing, I have learned from this advise of your, life is a gradual process and we must be part of that process to enable us get where we admire to be, the crypto space needs very careful minds to avoid being victim of circumstance.

Re: Things to avoid as a beginner
by
Bravethug
on 21/11/2023, 12:36:08 UTC
I would just like to share few points which newbie should always remember and to avoid indulging in these things as mentioned below.

1. Avoid burst posting:
I have seen users making continuous posts without any time gap just to complete their weekly Target for bounty campaigns or even signature campaigns, this can get you flagged and there are chances you will be removed from campaign and be in the spammers list thus eradicating your chances of being a part of further campaigns.
I really don't think this is for a newbie therefore a review on the name of the subject of the post should be considered. Secondly what are the odds that a newbie will be active in participating for a weekly target for a bounty campaign as you put it. Is a newbie suppose to be in any campaign??? Pardon my intrusive and inquisitive question.
Quote

2. Trading of merits:
Most of us will receive a random DM by users offering exchange saying they will share a merit to your account from their alternative account and ask you to share merit on their account. Never indulge in this activity as moderators can easily identify it and your account may be blacklisted and sometimes newbie are cheated on this context as there are group who will ask you to pay for merit and end up running away with your money once you pay it.

**Correction** "burst posting"

Apologies

receiving a PM from a random user asking you to pay for merits should be the first sign of a red flag except a person is solely fishing for merit, this shouldn't be of any interest to anyone as merits are earn based on the quality of the content that you've put out for consumption.

Re: Understanding Multiple accounts (newbie)
by
Bravethug
on 21/11/2023, 11:48:01 UTC
The rule are self explanatory so I don't know why you are finding it difficult to comprehend, is just simple when your account is banned all your account that tied to you aren't exempted so they are also ban from the forum even though they don't commit any offense they are automatically ban. Then if you are ban for any reason you are not permitted to go make any other account in this forum if found it would be also be ban automatically for rule violation. So if you own 10 accounts make sure you don't violate any rules with any of them because if 1 account among the 10 is ban is also affects the remaining 9 so treat all with equal rights otherwise your accounts will be ban as well.

from your explanation it means the rule is self contradicting and should be looked into for a rephrase. Because if its not illegal to own multiple accounts then banning all multiple accounts linked to a faulty user should be put in view. The rule can be rephrased to say one account to one user and owning multiple accounts at owners risk. Otherwise this rule is just self contradicting and should be open for review.

Understanding Multiple accounts (newbie)
by
Bravethug
on 21/11/2023, 08:45:22 UTC
I was reading the unofficial list of rule and these caught my attention. Please pardon me if these questions or concerns have been treated before, but I have gone through some other threads and I haven't seen anywhere that this concern was handled.
This was drawn from the list of unofficial rules of the forum.

Quote
Having multiple accounts and account sales are allowed, but account sales are discouraged.
Quote
There are restrictions when selling accounts and invites for invite-only sites.

My first question is what are the restrictions to selling an accounts???

Quote
Ban evasion ( using or creating accounts while one of your account is banned) is not allowed.

Does this mean that if I have always had two accounts and for any mistake whatsoever like plagiarism. And one of my account is banned, am I not allowed to own any other active accounts??? Let's not forget that it is not illegal or against the rules to own multiple accounts. Are these rules contradicting themselves or are there other hidden criteria to such effects???

Quote
If you get banned temporarily or permanently) and create a new account to continue posting/sending PMs, it's considered ban evasion. The only exception is creating a thread in Meta about your ban.

Does this mean all other of my old accounts remains relevant and active despite my initial ban on my other accounts???

Re: I want to fulfill my mother's dream of building a house with Bitcoin.
by
Bravethug
on 21/11/2023, 06:59:19 UTC
As ridiculous as it may sound, the truth is that I want to fulfill a dream of building a house with Bitcoin.
My parents took care of me from childhood and they taught me education and they are still trying to teach me education. Father is very old and it is not possible for him to work as he used to, so I myself feel that I should do something. At the moment, if I could somehow earn to help my family or pay for my education, then maybe the pressure on my father would be reduced a lot. I joined Bitcoin to fulfill my dream.

My mother has a dream to build a house, maybe in the future I will have to help her fulfill her dream because my father is spending the money he earns on my education and running the family so at the moment he cannot afford to build a house. I have already gained enough knowledge about trading by being involved with Bitcoin, firstly I want to start my Bitcoin journey through trading, after making some money from trading I plan to invest in Bitcoin for four years. These four years I will hold my investment and also save the money earned from trading or signature campaign for four years so that after four years I can start building the house.

You must pray for me so that I can fulfill my mother's dream.
Seriously am I the only one that sees through this whole story?Huh Everyone has the vision to make their parents proud but I believe you should focus on building yourself and making a path way for yourself. Your parent have done their part in life and training you was their responsibility even though children are saddled with the liability of taking care of them at old age. Finally this looks like a weak way of fishing merits I believe you can do better with your post that's if you do proper research and post on things that are more relevant. For newbies like me this is a very weak move.

I choose Bitcoin
by
Bravethug
on 04/10/2023, 14:14:20 UTC
Yesterday my partner came up with an idea to deposit a good some of money in a fixed deposit account on an online banking platform offering a 13% interest rate, they offered to pay the interest upfront but the initial deposite would be locked in till the exact stipulated time. Though this may sound like a good deal I discouraged him from making this investment for the following reasons.
Firstly with the rate at which the traditional currency in my country is steadily loosing value and the proposed profit and initial deposit might just be valueless at the matured time this deal might be of little or no value.
Secondly these platforms in my opinion cannot be trusted as different reasons can lead to their folding up and shutting down. I understand that life's a risk but some risks are not worth taking.
On the other hand I offered a solution. I asked him to invest in Bitcoin, now even though the price of bitcoin is volatile, in my opinion it is still more profitable to invest in Bitcoin especially for long term investment than in any fixed deposit scheme.
If you were in the position to give financial advice to someone looking for a long term financial investment, what would you advice?...

I have always been confused about crypto currencies and how they work... how they are stabilised and regulated but with the present plight and constant devaluation of my country's currency, it's safe to say I need to learn, practice and own a safer landing, the banking systems are not helping with constant maintenance levies and network issues. I'm aware that there is no perfect place but anywhere with a more better solution is more preferable. Cheers to the beginning of a new journey.

Congratulations you did the right thing, we all wish that there will be more people who would realize the value of Bitcoin as a store of value in times of constant devaluation of their local currency and inflation, but people prefer to have second thoughts because of the bad news they are receiving from mainstream media.

Merited you for your new journey I'm sure it will be a fruitful journey because you have chosen the right path to financial freedom and accepting this new innovation in online payment.

Thank you so much for your kindness and words of encouragement.  I appreciate you.

Re: No matter the pressure don't release
by
Bravethug
on 21/09/2023, 14:10:14 UTC
It is very common sometimes when we trade on exchange p2p payment delays,  these delay can be from the buyer's bank or seller bank's.  Many people have lose their money due to this delay of bank network thinking that the problem of the delay is from the network of bank which they will later get their money when the network of their bank becomes good and they go ahead to release the payment because of  evidence of payment that the other trader have sent to show as proof.

I had trade to sell bitcoin in an exchange and I was matched with a buyer, so after he did the bank transaction I was waiting to get bank alert and the amount of money in my account Balance.  We both complained to the exchange customer service to help how to go about the issue and the buyer was asked to submit his statement of account which he did,  he brought evidence of payment that made it looks as if the delay of payment that have not reached me was from me. With every I was still not ready to release the payment it reflect in my account,  this issue last about more than 30 hrs abd and the following day I sent him a message to contact his bank the delay which he said he did.

It wasn't up to 10 minutes after he contacted his bank I received the payment in my account.  If I had release the payment because of the pressure of customer service in the exchange,  the money wouldn't have gotten to me, which the buyer will be nowhere to find to make complains to his bank . Beginners should never make mistakes to release no matter how long it takes for them to receive payment.  Hold on till everything is settled from both sides.
the subject title is very catchy.... sounds erotical... I read through, and as a newbie I'm equipped with a useful information, although this might look like a scam move from the buyer, but many times banks have very poor networks and sometimes some transactions can be reversed back. thank you for sharing.
