Ensure to include a sufficient miner fee when sending coins to a mix, as the number of pending transactions in the mempool is currently very high.
Otherwise, your transaction may be "stuck" in the mempool for several days.

New Tor Onion Service v3 URL
by
Casy
on 06/04/2021, 17:46:19 UTC
Starting from today, FoxMixer has a new Tor onion v3 URL:

http://foxmixer4dw2zluv7gy4pgqrpp2ab6p323s5clcyt7i5csbpk2pzezid.onion

As of now, this new URL is the preferred way of accessing FoxMixer through Tor, so store it in your bookmarks.

The advancements in the Tor development make this step necessary, since the old, shorter v2 URL format (foxmixer6mrsuxrl.onion) will be deprecated by the Tor team soon.
The old onion URL will still stay available during a transition period. But starting from July, you will most likely not be able to reach FoxMixer using the old URL anymore after updating to the latest version of Tor.

Pay close attention to store the URL correctly.

This change does not affect the clearnet domain https://www.foxmixer.com in any way.

A minor remark about FoxMixer.
Your website says "No data about Log Policy". In fact, no logs are created (and mixes are deleted after 7 days).
This can be found in the FAQ and this prior post:

And still, we're maintaining all of this with all log features turned off. We don't delete logs. Because we don't even generate them.

In any case that you guys are not aware of, Another Bitcoin mixing phishing site - Foxmixėr.com.

So I'm giving everyone a heads-up about this phishing site as obviously, you have been targeted by cyber criminals, so be careful specially your customers here. Or you can directly report it the the domain registrar and tell them that they are copying your website thru phishing campaign.

These new TLDs and domain encodings are an invitation to phishing at their best.

Thanks Yaunfitda for the notice! We submitted a report to the registrar and to safebrowsing.

Also, be aware that the scam uses an ".online" instead of a ".onion" domain. This is NOT a real Tor domain, but a clearnet domain and it is not controlled by us.
Pay close attention, this can easily be overlooked!
Our original Tor link is: http://foxmixer6mrsuxrl.onion
Always make sure to double-check the links you use and set bookmarks instead of following links on external websites.

Just for completeness the full warning reminder:

WARNING to our users

Some scammers found it might be profitable for them to register some domains and scam people.
Always be sure to use https://www.foxmixer.com or http://foxmixer6mrsuxrl.onion

Nothing else!

Especially, there have been posted some youtube videos linking to .io or .net domains.
These are a SCAM and NOT CONTROLLED BY US!

Always ensure before mixing to be on the official FoxMixer .com domain or the correct onion address.

Please share this information with other users you might know!

Re: Double Mixer: Mix your Bitcoin with two mixers in series

Hi everyone.

It seemed no one was using this for quite some time, or at least for any sizeable amount of funds where I've noticed any commissions. At one point it was definitely being used for some large transfers and I never heard of any issues.

Thanks for your work at this project! It definitely brought some cool new ideas to bitcoin mixing and the fact it is open source makes it still useful for everyone interested. I'd vote for keeping your bitcoin affiliate address in at least one of the mixer stages to whoever is going to take it over.

The latest update contains a small usability improvement. After creating a new mix, it is possible to click on the payin address, which takes you directly to your wallet and inserts the bitcoin address in there.

This works if you have set your wallet to listen for "bitcoin:..." URI requests.

The method of copy-and-paste and QR codes still work as usual.

Hello, I login with tor browser http://foxmixer6mrsuxrl.onion , I know tor hides my real IP, JavaScript will leak my real IP? What are the specific hazards of JavaScript? I want to know

Hi

JavaScript by itself will leak nothing. It always depends on its use on a specific website and your browser configuration.
If you enable JavaScript only for the foxmixer6mrsuxrl.onion domain (for example using the NoScript addon), then there will be no danger of any leakage.
If you configured your browser improperly, then an IP leak may occur by a malicious use of specific technologies. For example WebRTC which builds up direct p2p connections. But also fingerprinting (identifying you by your specific browser instance) is a thing.

Many of these attacks can be mitigated by using the official "Tor Browser" bundle. The default settings in there are set up in such a way that the described attacks are impossible or at least very hard to conduct.

Again, these leaks are to be considered when browsing the web in general. FoxMixer JavaScript does NOT leak or try to leak your IP.
If you use the official Tor bundle + FoxMixer with its onion service and only whitelist "foxmixer6mrsuxrl.onion", you can get the best privacy results.

Right next to the URL bar (right side), you can see the icon of a shield. If you click that and select "Advanced Security Settings", you go to a page where you can set up your "Security Level" (you can also just go to about:preferences#privacy). They have "Standard" (default), "Safer" and "Safest". The later disables Javascript on all websites, and your mixer, apparently, requires it, so it doesn't work on that level.

That's probably what he is talking about. Tor already had vulnerabilities which worked through Javascript found on websites, so many people keep it disabled.
You're right. Thank you for answering. My English is not good, so the expression is not in place!

Ok, that's something we do not handle differently than any other site requiring JavaScript.
You should at least see the fallback message indicating the problem very clearly: "Please enable JavaScript...".
This is only solvable by enabling JavaScript at least for the FoxMixer domain.

Anyway, if you want to avoid JavaScript and using the browser interface entirely, we can recommend the excellent open source python CLI for FoxMixer written by sega01.

Tor browser sets the highest security level. The website can be opened normally, but the mixer cannot be used, and the plug-in image cannot be opened. Tor browser sets the standard security level, and everything can be used normally

As @DroomieChikito mentioned above, there is not any security level within Tor I am aware of. It just builds circuits you can use.

What do you mean by "mixer cannot be used". Is it like you get an error message?
I am not sure what "plug-in image" refers to. FoxMixer has nothing to do with plugins you might be using within your browser.

And you say that for the standard security level it works, so why not just go with that?

I log in to tor browser http://foxmixer6mrsuxrl.onion/ , set the highest security level. If it is found that it cannot be used, it can be used normally by setting the standard security level. Why?

Can you please phrase more exactly what the problem is (perhaps add images)? What do you mean by "it cannot be used"?

I've also translated it to German: Interview mit Bitcoin-Mixern [Juni 2020] von zasad@

Many thanks for answering the questions and maybe we have still some questions left for a second part.

Sure. Let us know.

Thanks for your translation of the article.

But the title of this thread saying you are online since 3 years. Which one is correct ? 3 years or 0.5 years.

The title is correct. We have fixed it in the description as well.

I have just noticed this thread. The mixer is not very known, as i didn't see it being suggested from others despite it is running well since a considerable time.
This is why i would like to repeat the ask about promoting it.
...

Hi,

we currently don't observe a need for promotion, as the quality of our service is a sustainable selling point why many users begin to mix with our service (and also recommend it to others).
From the beginning, we concentrated our expenses on the software, server and infrastructure quality.

We are not a purely profit-driven team that wants to increase revenues for any price.
We want to spend our time on offering bitcoin privacy to our users who value it as much as we do.

As you already mentioned, our service has been online for more than 3 years now.
Obviously, the math is simple: if we were not attracting enough users to keep up our infrastructure, developer and support team we would no longer be online.
You probably also noticed what happened to other mixing services that used to spend tons on campaigns.

Maybe we will decide to do some promotion in the future but we currently don't see the urge to do so.

COVID-19 Update
by
Casy
on 04/04/2020, 09:52:41 UTC
Hi,

as we've received the following inquiry quite often during the recent time of the corona pandemic, we want to answer it here publicly for all of you.

Yes, we are continuing our work to keep everything running as usual. The self-maintaining infrastructure we have built up helps us a lot in this situation.
The user count has risen again, but also the number of support requests is higher than usual.
Not due to problems, but due to the uncertainty if everything is alright with the service.
The answer: yes, it is!
Our support team is working and available for you also during the current COVID-19 crisis, just as you are used to it.
If you have any issue or request, just contact us and we will look into it.

We hope that all of you will emerge unscathed from the crisis and you can make the best out of the current situation.

Protect yourself and stay healthy!

Our latest generation dynamic content loader now supports a loading page.
This page makes it more clear on slower network connections (for example via tor) that FoxMixer is still loading required resources (i. e. doing work).

On fast internet connections, the change should be barely noticeable.

Hi,

what a detailed review. Thanks for helping us and other users by posting your experience while using FoxMixer!

"No single point of failure" policy shows its signs after typing the site URL and pressing the enter button. Actually, I expected a captcha thing will irritate me because I asked my friend to test the response ping time of the site with a different IP addresses (with time limits, of course) thanks to anonymous VPN and Tor network. The bothe onion link and clearnet website work flawlessly.

That's exactly what we are working for!

Correlation between minimum time requirement and network confirmation is not effective for fast mixing practice, for amounts less than 0.5 BTC first confirmation is enough for instant delivery. The double-spend probability is highly unlikely, IMO. Adding a function for disabling time delay can solve this problem and it will be a customizable option for all types of users.

There is still a time correlation, also for amounts < 0.5 BTC.
Many users are just not aware that time correlation is one of the simplest approaches to reveal address dependencies.
That's why we have a minimum mixing time.

A small suggestion: Electrum and Bitcore wallet implementation also lets the customers launch desktop wallets with this shortcut. The mobile interface works well too.

So your suggestion is to implement the address as a clickable "bitcoin:..." uri? That's a good idea.

Adding more altcoins and increasing awareness are my propositions for improving service quality.

Maintaining only one currency with our expectations of reliability, quality and support level is quite some work. Maybe that will happen in the future.
For the awareness: We are on a good way with the trust we receive and the development of our daily userbase.
It's a shame to see other mixers using sigcampaigns and paid news in order to pretend "trust" and scam people afterwards.
