Re: Selling high-value (1BTC+) items: in person or escrow?
by

Can you update you’re PM settings so newbies can PM you

Done. But please note I'm not interested in selling anything until I am comfortable that I have a relatively secure sales process. I'll make a separate WTS thread then.

Just use escrow...

Again, I would appreciate if anybody has any insights on this. For high value (1BTC+) items it doesn't seem to be "just" a simple process and is the reason for this thread, and why I'm considering an in-person transaction instead.

Shipping high value btc is a bad idea. Terrible idea, actually. Govs have been getting worse and worse with customs seizures. I guess if you’re the buyer and the seller is willing to take all the risks, well then that’s on them. I’d never send anything via mail 1btc +. I would meet at an airport during the day, bring a friend and just let them know you’ll meet at a spot say sizably inside the airport. Share your concerns with recent in person robberies /attempts.  Let them know you know what’s up /what to look for etc.  my last and final in person sale was done this way and the buyer and I had a great experience. We got to nerd talking so much, lost track of time and their sig other was buzz’s them plenty making sure they were all good lol. That said I texted them about the in person scamming and we both agreed we probably wouldn’t do it again. I’ve got a ton of history /trust ..but who’s to say I’ve not been hacked. They seemed legit, we had everything perfectly established and went over as planned to a T..but either way there’s risk and no getting around it,  I suppose you could pay for armor shipping, security, etc..but at what price and loss of anonymity.

It’s a battle we’ve all been coming to grips with the harsh realities of. Also, are you an expert? How would you know for sure if it’s real? This is why I’m anti publishing first bits. Counterfeiting and privacy are bigger issue now that the entire public address list is out there.

PG (or anyone whom might be able to answer this)..

Maybe a little off topic, I dunno ..forgive me if so.  I’ve suggested to Theymos a few times now that I would love to see r/bitcoin ad a bot that reacted to physical bitcoin/cryptocurrency..perhaps saying something like “I see you’re discussing physical bitcoins, want to learn more, visit the birthplace and an active marketplace on btctalk xxx” .. What originally sparked the idea is when I work on scam busting in the space. In particular I continue to see users there inquiring about Titan Mint BTC, which is an ongoing major fraud case. “Help, I can’t redeem my Titan coin”.  Most often people either have no clue how to help, shit talk, or give false info.  It’s a niche hobby, while growing, but I don’t see this kinda thing not continuing to happen for a long time.

I’m sure you’re aware thymos is the head mod there too and I’ve pitched this idea as a way to help promote the hobby and btalk. Whether he saw it or not I’m not sure, but I can’t be the first to pitch the idea of promoting the forum there in some fashion. I don’t see them as competitors either, for what that’s worth.

That said, could this be “reversed” somehow perhaps? Say we 📍 a topic in collectible where mentions of physical btc’s come up there , and maybe the same w/twatter. For me this would be a service for those people and this forum. This way when someone posts about Titan, I can log in to Reddit, share my Titan scam thread, helping them and promoting the forum simultaneously.

Is this stupid ? Were buds you can be honest w/me lol.

Thx for all ya do, if I haven’t told ya before , you’re appreciated Wink

Imagine being a dick to someone who makes something for fun. Roll Eyes

Being a jerk is not good either.
If someone cannot handle a neutral opinion, they should not be on a public forum. I did not criticize him, just shared my personal opinion that I would appreciate it if he could use his knowledge to make something useful. If you cannot take both positive and negative feedback about yourself, go back to your house and lock yourself inside a room. No one is going to talk to you.

It’s disappointing to see a forum staff member acting unprofessionally in a public space and calling people out simply for sharing their personal opinions. I thought the forum was meant to promote freedom of speech. But, it seems that the official staff are using the feedback system to silence others. I didn't even criticize the original poster. Mr. Mitchell chose to leave neutral feedback on my profile just because I expressed my feelings.  Cheesy Cheesy

Mitchell    2025-07-29    Reference    Being a dick is not a good look

@theymos, You should start censoring and never claim you support freedom of speech if your staff behave like this. LOL.

C'mon, it's not that we all need useful things - fun stuff is also needed. And everyone have to start from something - usually it's small and simple things. And when they gain experience, they can start making more difficult things.
Yes, I do agree. Where did I mention that fun stuffs are not needed? Did I criticize OP? I shared my personal opinion, buddy. That's it.

I’ve known Mitchell for a decade now and he’s one of the best members of this forum. He’s been staff for a very long time and he’s fair, period. Like all staff. I’ve really not met one whom I didn’t like. As for forum members , the   List goes on in the opposite direction and you’re on it now too.

Community engagement is important here and fun things like this build a sense of community, and a keeps people wanting to come back. Clearly you’re too dimwitted to understand that..so try doing so, perhaps. Also, Theymos doenst give two fucks about you I can promise you that. Summon all you want, hope you enjoy crickets

Not to mention, Elias has done more for this community than you ever will, with all due respect. Thank you,

Elias has done more for the community than I ever will…how about we take a poll here on that  ?

Elias didn’t write the book and collect info, others did it for him. It’s fn terrible how much bs is in that book. I know nothing? My history, merit, trust score, scam write ups that I’ve spent beyond countless hours working on for the betterment of the community and to no advantage of my own, and countless friends here say otherwise. I am not a bully I’m just willing to say what others are thinking to dumb fucks who are shady like yourself.  I am a watchdog who calls out bullshit because I can see it much easier than most with my training in finance, vast knowledge of the space and it’s what I’ve dedicated my life to doing, exposing scum fucks like you.  You’re an alt sock puppet. What’s your real forum handle?  You respect Mopar and MinerJones, good buddies of mine, whom I agree are always willing to help. So am I, and do all the time. No shady forum users ask me for help all the time.

Lastly , funny how my post is what got you to finally start addressing these questions you left in limbo for a year. Why reply to someone who doesn’t know anything or

“ 1) Any advice is a great thing! This couldn’t be more false and shows your lack of intelligence.
2)Meritless accusations mean nothing.” - oh I’ve provided merit.

Why is absolutely NO ONE mentioning the doxxing going on here?

Kindergarten level stuff

Unreal

Viz

I'm OK with that information being public. - Nothing I'm overly concerned with, I have other safeguards in place. I appreciate you looking out though. ❤️🙌

Also, the other guy is a scammer - anyone who is a scammer deserves to be doxxed imo

you're dangerously reckless
As if a scammer would use his own deets.
But you have managed to potentially expose innocents to unwanted attention

Viz

You make a lot of noise, but bring little value to the current discussion.

Viz is an OG of high moral / character standard. His input is valuable. You’re a noob who thinks they know it all but doesn’t know shit in reality. You are highly disliked by the vast majority here and the type of dipshit we’ve seen come and go many times.

I think you’re a scammer. Every time you post I miss Tman a little. He woulda LOVED you.

Re: I'm surprised this hobby and genre of crypto collectibles isn't more popular
by

This hobby is struggling to an extent, but it’s going to get worse. Soon enough. People don’t want to listen to reason and pivot to a better/more secure space, rather carry on as status quo, so, history shall repeat itself.

I knew really good fake Cas holos had “recently” been discovered/ purchased last year or whatever. But I’m not sure I was aware they were being used to put on peeled cas coins / funding them.  Making them look “unpeeled”‘ again. This is what I would equate to a “mortal sin” within the hobby. The can of worms this opens up is massive. Has this been discussed in other threads, still being done? I can’t even begin to understand why this would be happening.  This is something 5-10 years ago the entire community would have lost their minds over. Now most of the community is gone, doesn’t feel like speaking up etc.   I mean 🤦‍♂️

I will probably make a post about this because this is something I feel very strongly about. Coins like Titan, Sol Noctis, 1HodlClub, Microsoul, Cold Storage coins etc are all being sold here, Stacks, Heritage, eBay, etc without any sort of “warning note”.  All of the coins I named are unquestionably at risk, high risk. This is the kind of thing that’s going to get these coins banned from auction houses soon. Ive said this many times and mark my words, it will happen. If you don’t want it to..speak up and out, now !

There can’t be many of the 2FA titan coins left, at this point.  But for sure, a notice about not buying them would be helpful.
Regarding a class action, that might be an option with payment contingent on recovery. There might not be anything to recover, though. A PI might be able to determine that.
It’s an unfortunate situation all around. I still do like the idea of a physical coin that you can exchange intact, or sweep the bitcoin out of. There are some low denomination tokens currently on eBay made to a pirate theme. Very high premium through. Of course that’s what I said about the satori chips when they were selling for 50 dollars. Now sold for 250. Sure wished I collected a few.

OhOh

There are more Titan 2FAs still out there than you realize. Much more. I’ve been told many things in confidence, people whom don’t want to publicly speak about scams and Titan being no different. The PI is a solid suggestion indeed. Certainly need to make sure the scumbag has assets. That said, law enforcement should do their mother fucking job.

I’m trying to piece together why the OP would create this write up if they are a part of this scam team “Skylar”.  Over about a decade now I’ve seen many collectors stop in with just a coin or two they were looking to buy or sell, and were legit. OP wrote this post just 3 days ago, responded to the doubt of his story/character as well. I do find it Kinda odd they used ChatGPT for this write up that’s really not that long , but that doesn’t really mean shit really.

This happening in Florida is absolutely on par with Florida and “Florida man”. It’s the haven for scams/scammers in the United States, especially south Florida. I lived in FL for roughly 6 years and literally had people try to scam me while checking out of Publix and looking for a microwave in Walmart. I’ve had other scam attempts there as well.

Like Spoke stated, everyone sharing their stories only will help the community and prevent potential future scams of the same ilk.

For those whom met Skylar at an Airport or public building of some sort, I would look in to contacting local authorities, alerting them to what transpired ..if the authorities feel like doing their job, they will be able obtain video surveillance from the airport security cameras. My guess is airports either store footage for years or indefinitely. I imagine there are agents of some sort that are solely assigned to airports as well..something worth looking in to. It’s a pain in the ass to do stuff like this I know, but it’s important.

P.S.A. (I Got a lot of friends on here, hope I don’t lose any cause the last 5 mins it’s every man for themselves) lol

Edit:
Anyone got a link to “the back story” on these and why they were made different then regular satori’s ?

Ty Smiley

Satori made several custom chips for exchanges (BitFlyer, Zaif ..though I’ve not seen any Zaif chip photos outside of what looks to be digital mock ups. I asked Moto if he could confirm if they were ever made and per usual he offered no words).  Satori promoted having custom chips made in their home office for business like exchanges, coins like OmiseGo, and social media “influencers” MissBitcoin Japan ..at least I think she’s a social media “influencer”..barf. (also sold satori chips via gum-ball like vending machines in like 5-6 locations around town. I know one was in a college building, another outside a convenience store. They sold for like $3-5 at the time.

As you can see in my photos they have what are likely one offs made to help promote custom projects. Hhampuz held two massive forum group buys and we started to talk to Satori about having a btalk custom made up, which unfortunately died on the vine maybe a month a most after the idea was proposed when satori closed shop. Though you’ll notice a custom satori was made for someone’s wedding after they closed shop “officially”.

Zaif probably has the most number of customs made, however they will forever be extremely difficult to find. Most of the customs reside in Asian countries..and for whatever reason I’ve found that China/Japan citizens are extremely difficult to get to even converse with you , let alone sell you a physical crypto coin that are most often their only physical crypto coin period. I was able to buy 3 from a guy on eBay, based in India. Not sure how he came across them but I’m pretty sure I am the only sale eBay’s ever had of any custom satori’s (have checked worth point several times).

I still do not understand for the life of me why no law enforcement agency will help us out with this piece of shit. I’ve literally laid out a blue-print of his crimes, so prosecutors wouldn’t have to do much work in many regards

I have been meaning to update this thread , as well as try and get a count for how many people are still owed from Tim. I imagine there’s at least 5-10 collectors that frequent this forum still owed ..WHAT I PROPOSE- PLEASE READ ALL-  if Tim owes you, either note that here in this thread or DM me. If we get enough people together I imagine for those out 115 thousand dollars plus in fiat value would be willing to potentially split costs for an attorney to prosecute if need be.   Perhaps we make another attempt to get law enforcement involved. Pretty sure I pay taxes for shit like this, smh.

I read an article recently where some Bitcoin ATM was scamming people (forget the details) but the local authorities got a warrant to crack open the ATM and claimed all of the greenbacks inside. Now they have to figure out who’s owed what..so they’ll do shit like that but “we” are still left with our dick in our hands all these years later.  There’s no question my threads have been read by some policing agency at some point 🤷‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️

by

A bit of input:
Finally got this coin in my hands- What sets it apart for me is the very fine beehive/chainlink pattern behind Satoshi. I don't think I've seen a similar effect on physical bitcoin before. The face of the statue is also mirrored, like the real statue, while the rest is matte. there is also an extremely fine, small text "BITCOIN 2024 HALVING" on the bottom left which appears laser etched - I have not seen such small, fine text on the metal of any physical bitcoin. the backside appears standard, with the hologram appropriately branded and numbered. The case itself is tasteful, better than a mere airtite in my opinion yet easy to open if desired (there is a notch, its not 'sealed' so it can be opened without breaking it). Overall, I also like that he face of the coin has no branding and is fully dedicated to the art, symbolism, and message, with the brand "signature" being on the back with a hologram. Having no set denomination is a small departure from tradition though appropriate for self-funded, and overall I see this as an excellently made physical bitcoin that commemorates a worthy subject with a unique angle.

Now some personal notes:
I have been aware of this coin project for a long time, and did provide some feedback on the design. I know the creator personally, and can say that he is extremely passionate about this project and has poured much personal energy and resources into making this reality. I also visited Sunshine Mint in Las Vegas last year, where he and his son had an office from which they were working.

Luckily, one of the mint managers took me on a personal tour of the floor, letting me see pallets upon pallets (I estimated 50m worth) of 1,000 oz silver bullion bars. Seeing the various machines, and workers manning them pump out coins and bars, including for the royal Canadian Mint, was very cool. they also had a special room where they cut the dies, some of which took 36h+ to prepare. There was also a central safe in the middle, in which the dies for various coins were held. They explained how all the garbage the building is checked with metal detectors, and security was very tight as well - there's almost no way I could have removed a single ounce from the building.

Elias , you are not an expert in the space. You word shouldn’t hold any merit. You are a shill and all you care about is money. I decided not to help you with the new that never happened Encyclopedia because I could tell you were all business, not in a good way. So I passed. You’ve posted fake Casascius coins on your own website , your encyclopedia is littered with lies, misinformation (wrong mintages for ex and on and ..happy to share more). It’s clear the amount of fluff means you’re either okay with so many coins being shady or refused to have the balls to say things needed to be said.

I believe stacks, PCGS, maybe Heritage and others employ you to “authenticate”.  You’re not an expert and you’re going to fuck things up for not giving a shit what you “authentic”.  Mopar imo should replace you if he’s interested across the board. MJ isn’t interested anymore nor do I believe tweetious would be. Those are experts.

I hope enough read me seemingly being an asshole but I do know the space and it comes with good intentions because Elias isn’t who may of you think he is.

Cheers

I first saw the coin posted here before any details/further insight provided . Thought to myself , I know what this is I think ..

https://youtu.be/IHPVztTqg2E?si=BfAmD-20sJo8l9e4

The btc soycoin is an all time fav of mine. I do love the look. I do not love the .01 funding and bit surprised by the potential “few hundred in premium”.   It steers far from the Moto/Satori OG chips that were all about the love of btc & spreading btc awareness in a cool, affordable way.  When I see a premium that high just wonder why so..exp for aluminum and stickers, produced in Asia.

Wouldn’t expect these prices, of course.

Maybe further clarity will make me feel diff. I do like them a lot, ascetically.  Anyway.. Moto been a big fan for years and wish you the best w Satori 2.0.

Whether or not it was actually a pre-planned "experiment," I don't know, but I don't really care. I'm all for giving more established users a second chance when it comes to this kind of thing, especially if they swear they're not gonna do it again, which is why I didn't leave a tag.

An AI putter, what?? In one of the videos the guy says, "through AI we were able to develop to develop an insert that will leave you 21% closer on missed hits..." so there no actual artificial intelligence in your putt, that's a shame. I was hoping there was a camera and motion sensor on it so it could transform the surface however was necessary to ensure your putt made the ball go in the hole, lol.

“ If the new tech isn’t true artificial intelligence, then what is it? In my view, the most accurate way to understand what we are building today is as an innovative form of social collaboration.

A program like OpenAI’s GPT-4, which can write sentences to order, is something like a version of Wikipedia that includes much more data, mashed together using statistics. Programs that create images to order are something like a version of online image search, but with a system for combining the pictures. In both cases, it’s people who have written the text and furnished the images. The new programs mash up work done by human minds. What’s innovative is that the mashup process has become guided and constrained, so that the results are usable and often striking. This is a significant achievement and worth celebrating—but it can be thought of as illuminating previously hidden concordances between human creations, rather than as the invention of a new mind”.
