Re: List of (un)known methods scammers user to scam users with honorable mention

I've ran many businesses and chargebacks are just a cost of doing business. Majority of business is done with credit cards, its just how the real world operates. Your generally fine selling btc for paypal if you charge a premium to offset any losses you might have.

Ok, lets say you want to sell 1 BTC using paypal. How much of a premium would you want for that?

Depends on the platform, if it is something like paxful where you can sort of get a good idea on who is trustworthy maybe 15% or so. Assume 1 out of 10 trades will go bad.

The thing is with paypal you get a huge amount of customers that otherwise wouldn't be able to buy crypto.

Someone not paying back a loan isn't a scam, its just a default on a loan. Imagine if all the people in the world with debt were considered scammers, just lol.

People are really just jumping to assumptions, you have no idea if this person had a serious medical issue.

Paypal for crypto(BTC)
This kind of currency exchange offers we often see in the Currency exchange section. Most of them come from Newbie accounts or very lower ranked accounts. They will claim that they have Paypal and they want to buy BTC. The deal may go very smooth but since Paypal has chargeback feature (is valid for 180days) the scammer can simply write to Paypal for a refund and if they can convince Paypal team then Paypal will take the money away from your account. A better solution is to hold the crypto for 180 days using an escrow perhaps.

Example victims or offers:
In progress

Luckily i'm not a victim, but i've seen this happen, and has been attempted on me dozens of times.
ONLY use paypal for people you TRUST

Cargeback is a bitch....

I used to think Monero was a good investment but its clear to me that the btc ratio will not recover anywhere close to what it used to be. Obviously privacy is the main selling point of xmr but in reality most people dont care about privacy. I dont think xmr will die anything because it has a niche following but at this point things like ethereum will give a much better return on investment. The sheeps are all over facebook and instagram posting everything about their lives.

It is not that simple to correctly pay fees in ethereum. You need to set Gas Price and Gas Limit. You probably set something wrong, higher than needed.

I made a small guide here:
Paying low fees in Ethereum - Gas Limit, Gas Price and Gwei

That is common sense, of course everyone understands that. I wanted discussion on how clogged the ethereum network is getting and it it will continually rise with all the Defi projects getting more popular and subreddits use eth tokens. On chain scaling will hopefully arrive soon.

Lately ETH fees have been skyrocketing and I have been paying 50 cents for a normal eth transaction and over $1 for contract functions. Used to be a few pennies at most to get your transaction confirmed quickly.

If you wanna be private than stay private, I'm talking about how people are so scared that everyone in the world is going to hurt them. This type of fear with terrorism is how the patriot act got passed which allowed government to do even more sketchy shit.

Look at all the famous crypto whales: Roger ver, Vitalik, Winklevoss twins, Charlie Lee, etc. Do you see anything happening to any of these guys? Nope. stop being so paranoid.
It is not paranoid, It's a prevention to avoid bad things that may happen to us. You cannot say a harmful statement to your friends or random people that can lead to losing your asset or losing trust from others. Especially if you are in a country that still cannot legalize crypto. Telling much about your crypto assets may trigger people to not trust you again as they may think you did an illegal activity. On the other hand, we don't know that there are people who become intending to steal or hack your crypto assets. Except you are a rich person like Roger ver, Vitalik, Charlie Lee, then you can hire private guards to protect you at any time. But if you are an average person, you can't do it.

This is the type of paranoia that caused the patriot act to pass and it is why they are banning encryption. We all have to watch out for those bad terrorists! they will all hurt us. ridiculous.

Re: The term and word (free coins) is completely wrong
by

OP you couldn't be more wrong. People were getting 20k usd a pop when Raiblocks( now known as Nano) did their distribution. Many fair projects out there had fair distribution models, just because you got suckered into bad projects doesn't mean there aren't free coins out there that gain value down the line.

People literally made millions of dollars in a single day if they held their nano from the distribution.

I still remember when Bitcoin faucets were handing out 5 bitcoin a day for free. The key is you have to be early in a coin. Also a lot of coins had free sign ups that gave you a ton of coins and if you held it was an easy 50k usd + like xrp and nem.

It really has a big difference compared to the money you lent to TYM and It is just a small fraction of bitcoin as stated in the above reply to LogitechMouse. I don't think filing a police report is a good idea with that amount of money.

https://i.imgur.com/CKvNk3bm.jpg

This is the address he used for receiving my BTC: 35jR51b4MRoULgKwBD8sRXq8JnP4iG3vvz
Reference id: 44f882d9bc7d

https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/35jR51b4MRoULgKwBD8sRXq8JnP4iG3vvz
In his address, there are total of 155 transactions.

We've used coins.ph in making this transaction.

This time around. I want to help DireWolfM14

This might be a lead to sue him. If ever there is a transaction from his wallet address that he used to borrow money and the coins.ph address above, You can file a police report using that evidence. Combining the total amount that he loans here are worthy to sue him. I'm willing to help the OP if he wants to push on filing the case. I believe we can forced coins.ph to disclosed the user identity if we have a court order for the case. Many ponzi scammer before that been arrested using there coins.ph account and I believe coins.ph are cooperating if ever there is an ongoing investigation from one of there user.

The only problem is that most the judiciary branch in PH are closed due to pandemic. It will take some time to reopen again.

Legal action would be a waste of time for such a small amount, I know from personal experience, but good luck with that. Can't say I feel bad about a loan shark not being paid back, OP was charging rates that would be considered illegal in many parts of the world. He wasn't even necessarily scammed, someone just defaulted on a loan, happens everyday in America.

" In most jurisdictions today (meaning, all of the USA, and most other civilized countries) usury (the crime of charging interest above a certain rate) is illegal; hence, usurious lenders operate outside the bounds of the law, because no court will assist them in getting a judgment against, or enforcing collection from, borrowers at the usurious interest rates they charge their customers — the lender, in other words, has no _legal_ recourse, if the borrower should default (fail to pay back) on the illegal loan (principal _or_ interest)."

Re: Accusations Against HEX & Founder
by

This isn't a scam and no one has actually pointed out anything that makes it a scam. All the top coins have huge amounts that go to the founders.
Bitcoin- 1million mined by satoshi, basically a premine
ethereum- 70% or so was insta created given huge amount to founders
ripple- vast amount owned by founder, constantly sells it.

hex was a completed project on release and there is nothing that actually makes it a scam, no false promises. A lot of people call anything they don't own a shitcoin.

You don't have any proof that this is an actual scam. This is similar to physical bitcoins, you just have to trust that they created the key in a safe process without saving it.

Fucking scam exchange services and scam casinos.  It is a fucking scam if you are not going to require KYC before the initial deposit and then require it when someone tries to withdraw.

Either require KYC from the first signup or don't require it at all.

These fucking selective scammers are pulling this shit for too long. These bullshit "webwallets" and "casinos".

Builled for supporting Bitcoin Cash instead of Bitcoin Core
by
Digitradez
on 29/05/2020, 23:02:28 UTC
Its gotten ridiculous how so many paid shills are bullying people for supporting bitcoincash instead of bitcoin core. We all don't like to spend a $5 fee to send a transaction in a timely manner. In fact the businesses in my area already stopped acepting btc because of the massive fees and moved over to bch. Then we got the fraudsters from blockstream trying to push their centralized bull shit products to make more money. Then you have actual retards like Luke saying the blocks should be smaller, seriously like wtf, serious mental illness.

I just love paying $5 to send a transaction within a few hours, awesome isn't it. I really hope we reach $100 fees again to get into the next block.  This is peer 2 peer electronic cash!.
