Re: Advocates for free speech start to make their voices known

https://harpers.org/a-letter-on-justice-and-open-debate/

I know of a few of the people that signed on as I've been listening to their yt videos on this topic for awhile now. That list could have been a hell of a lot longer so will be interesting to see if others step out from the shadows and add their voice to the message in some other ways. This is a real issue that affects everyone on both sides of the political spectrum and it needs voices from both sides to speak out and stop burying their heads in the sand. This isn't just a US issue either. It's all western nations and it's pervaded every aspect of our societies.

Bitcointalk does not allow freedom of speech, so you are posting this in the wrong place. Oh, they will allow the far-right Bitcoin infiltrators to express their views though. Pff, they will probably delete this reply anyway. Well fuck off bitcointalk anyway.

Bitcoin right now is defined by the funds that invested and trading it. Since Pomp is involved and you made him no1 influencer you have to expect investors treating it as a stock.

Re: Trading an Expensive Coin vs a Cheap Coin
by
Dildo Shwaggins
on 19/04/2020, 12:31:08 UTC
Your question is valid and many beginners fell in the trap of buying coins because they were thinking they were "cheap".
In fact there is a catch here. It is the total supply of the tokens. Multiply this number with the current price and you will get a number that informs you of the current market cap of this token, which you can consider the current valuation of this coin (just as the valuation of a company).
Now try and make sense with these numbers. Is for example the coin ICON correctly valuated at 100m USD today? To answer it you have to ask more questions as: Does it have a working product? How many people use it? Are the developers creating anything new? Has it solved the problem it claims to be solving after 3-4 years of activity? (ICON was an example here, I have no idea what it does to be honest).
It is hard to figure if a coin is expensive or cheap. Marketing is making this process harder and usually inflates prices. I usually try to look into projects that use less promotion and try to figure out if they have any decent chance. Most of them have another 95% to lose from their current price.

Re: Is bitcoin a failed experiment?
by
Dildo Shwaggins
on 17/04/2020, 08:48:25 UTC
Today I'm thinking of selling my BTC even though it would be a big loss right now I've been with BTC a while and used to the volitility but this time I believe it's different

I was a believer in BTC and the future of crypto I believed having 1 or more BTC was a smart thing to do that many would look back in 10 to 20 years wishing they'd bought some when it was still obtainable by the regular Joe.

Now I feel that BTC will trend down hitting sub 1 dollars prices possibly even 0 over the next 12 to 18 months. the current coronavirus outbreak has been BTCs first real test and it failed hard and failed immediately. It's not a store of wealth and its failure to hold value in a economic down turn is spectacular and visible to all.  Today I think BTC is a failed experiment. What are your thoughts?

The problem is that you though of Bitcoin as a get rich quick scheme, because you've read countless articles in major media, about how early investors managed to make a lot of money in a few months. You've finally understood that these returns are impossible now and that you've missed out. What you shouldn't miss again is the opportunity of smaller profits and a chance to double up. My guess is that you bought at $10K where many traders were taking profits, and many influencers were telling you to buy as price would go vertical. Without trying to judge you, I am sure that you sold at the bottom, probably at $5k, validating the first rule of trading: Buy high, Sell low.

Re: Malthus Catastrophe - Thanos's Ideal - Bitcoin Supply and Increasing Demand
by
Dildo Shwaggins
on 16/04/2020, 07:16:19 UTC
Firstly, it's an undeniable fact that the population rate in the world is growing at unprecedented levels. I'm also of the opinion that the universe always looks for a way to keep everything balanced because if population is left unchecked, it can cause some serious issues in the long run.

Sadly for humanity, the universe does not revolve around humanity. Humans are an insignificant part of time and space. Balance has to do with physics in cosmos, patterns and symmetries, and not with the population of our species on planet Earth. We are so vulnerable that we can be extinct in a few decades after a major catastrophe occurs.

Re: Bitcoins in future
by
Dildo Shwaggins
on 16/04/2020, 06:42:01 UTC
What is the future of bitcoins? Will it last? Or it will get bigger market than 2020?
I believe it will get bigger market as it is increasing rapidly. It was not even known in 2000 but now it is available!!!

For the next 10 years I am certain that Bitcoin will last and more people will be using it. It didn't exist in 2000 that's why it wasn't known.

Since you talk about it's price, as it is the only thing most care about, it will be directly impacted by adoption (demand). The supply and inflation are fixed, so it is only demand that affects price. Talks like "Bitcoin is not for everyone" aren't doing any good and I understand where they are aiming but they do more harm than help.
If demand is artificial then it will pump and dump, if demand is organic then we will see healthy market conditions and rise of price.

There are more things to consider than the market prices and lately it seems that ex-Bitconnect promoters are trying to use similar tactics to promote Bitcoin. I disagree with this marketing methodology of talking only about price and not utility. We haven't passed the point where everyone in the world understands how Bitcoin works, and we still have a lot of work to do informing them.

CBDC's will be financial slavery. I'd prefer to live as a nomad and have camels as medium of exchange than accept their use.

I've given my view of them a few months ago in this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5210116.msg53363115#msg53363115 .

We should not be happy about digitized national currencies but scared of them.

Re: Bounty Detective Community Populer?
by
Dildo Shwaggins
on 15/04/2020, 14:01:00 UTC
Having participating in airdrops for a few years his channel airdrop detective was one of the worst during 2018-2019. He featured various airdrops which weren't paid as:
-Coin Island,
-Pngme,
-Correto,
-300-Fit,
-Dispatch,
-CINDX,
-Trustfeedback,
-O2O,
-INNOU,
-AIGO,
-Nestree,
-Navcoin,
-Want Marketplaces,
-Tok App
and probably dozens more, still I've deleted his telegram channels which was obviously full of bots (300.000 members...).

I took part in all his sponsored Airdrops and only got 1 which was not ever valued and not ever listed in an exchange.
Obviously wasn't going to participate in his bounties ever, as I stopped taking part in most airdrops because of the lack of seriousness by both projects and especially by the failure of doing due diligence from bounty hunters, which treat bounty members basically as slaves.

Taking part in a few bounties under certain individuals was a terrible experience and basically I would advise everyone to stop doing bounties as:
1) You will not earn anything
2) You will spent time promoting scams
3) You will be treated unfairly and improper
4) The bounty manager will get paid - You won't

Re: Do not fall for this Fake Coinbase Scam in Youtube right now
by

It's already happening from september 2019.

I think I remember Ripple giveaways happening since 2017 in youtube. Although not at this frequency.
Lately many active youtubers had their accounts hacked, changed name and used for this scam. Probably it is lucrative for the scammers, although the wallets they provide might display many fake transactions made by them, to lure people thinking it is legit giveaways.

Re: How do you know when to sell
by
Dildo Shwaggins
on 07/04/2020, 12:32:02 UTC
I am a college student looking to make a buck every once in a while trading crypto (mainly BTC). My portfolio is $500 of my savings so nothing big really. This is like a pilot project where I get to learn what is what and see if I can trade. I am considering going full time during summers and hopefully after finishing college if summers will have spared me. The question I am constantly facing is, how do you know when you should (or have to) sell? When the price is rising, I don't want to sell because... greed ––tbh. But again when the price is dropping, I don't wanna sell either... sometimes the price might be lower than when I bought. In general, I am bullish that the price will eventually rise and I will make a killing, so no need to hurry. But again, I don't want to be a hodler; I want to be a trader. How do you guys know when to sell?

Trading actually is quite different from what you have pictured in your brain. Day trading is 99% done with leveraged options. Judging by your post it is obvious you don't know that traders don't buy and sell, but they bet on the price going up or down. This is going long or going short.
Since you don't know what shorting is, you have a lot to learn. Try making a test account in some of the trading sites that allow this just to find out the options available.

Re: This is why I sold my 0.67 BTC!!
by
Dildo Shwaggins
on 06/04/2020, 16:51:44 UTC
If you were in dire need of cash, I guess you are excused.
Sure, I certainly wouldn't criticize someone for selling bitcoin to free up some cash if they really need it.  However, it seems like OP invested in bitcoin when he should have had a cash reserve for emergencies--this is exactly what sets up selling like this.  People buy bitcoin with money that they can't afford to lose and might need in a relatively short period of time.

I'm actually in a similar situation right now, but I'm only letting go of a small amount of btc and it's not because I absolutely need the money to live.  I'm trying to buy that damn e-bike, and I've pretty much given up on the hope that I'll find a bicycle retailer who'd accept bitcoin.  Anyway, good luck to OP.

You are probably lucky you didn't find that e-bike as you would have lost 20% profits.
Depending on the type of bicycle profit can vary between $50-500

To the OP again:
The way I see it, you will rebuy 0.335BTC with the same amount of cash.

Re: fuck google ads
by
Dildo Shwaggins
on 29/03/2020, 15:29:23 UTC
why google bans crypto ads and than let this happen? lol fuck.

Crypto ads have been allowed on Google for a while already. Also, scams like this manage to get through because the ad submission part is mostly automated. It'd be incredibly unrealistic to expect Google employees to go through every single ad submission before they approve/decline them.

Actually that's exactly what they should be doing. Any major network may have law implications and have to pay hefty fines (in the case of Google billions) if they display any misleading or scam advertisment. Besides being forced by the law to accept only clear and legal advertisments it is actually a honest approach. It would actually be unrealistic not to thoroughly research the validity of the companies they advertise, as it is for any major tv network, or social media.

If you were in dire need of cash, I guess you are excused.
Personally I wouldn't advice anyone to cash out now though. I would especially advice not to panic and not to sell after a 40-50% dip. It is not different this time. The fundamentals have not changed and Bitcoin is still working exactly as it was supposed to.
Hopefully you will be able to recover financially soon and buy again without having missed out a lot.

Prayers might help raise morale, but mostly it is our actions that will help us overcome this obstacle.
Everyone must do their part to flatten the curve and allow our health system deal with this problem with ease.

Re: Is bitcoin mining a problem of wasting energy? No
by
Dildo Shwaggins
on 12/03/2020, 09:30:05 UTC
Most of the mining is done through excess energy produced mostly by "green" energy sources. The carbon footprint of Bitcoin is probably a lot lower from what some services provide, as they use the average carbon footprint for the industrial sector. These results are not scientific correct.
