Disclaiming one's holdings?
by
DrTeddus
on 04/12/2017, 07:04:45 UTC
I recently started to disclose my holding percentages when explaining some of the projects to others and most (everyone?) seem to appreciate it. Wouldn't it be nice if we as a community would start doing this?
I'm well aware that there's no verification or objective validity to one's disclaimers, yet I feel like most who are willing to give that extra information would also be those disclosing honestly.

What do you guys think? Is this something that could stick or is it more of a futile attempt to make this forum a more transparent place?  Smiley

Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments

Do you think Byteball can compete with IOTA. IOTA has no fees and byteball it has. I think that only for this reason IOTA will always have a suggestion. In addition, the interest of large companies is also on the IOTA side.
The only solution I see is to market the product towards a different costumer segment than iota's. Let's take some 'settlement coins' as an example: Ripple targets banks, while Stellar tries to work with private companies like IBM. NEM has a problem similar to Byteball's in the sense that it lacks a unique market (although they are very intersting from a tech standpoint). They do not really compete, granting all three the success they now have.

Disclaimer: I do not own any byteballs (yet)

A better tech will win in the end no matter what. Did smartphones or laptops need a "better presentation" and promotional campaigns? Of course not. If something works better people will choose to use it and the word will spread like wildfire.

I disagree. Nobody bought blackberry's first 'smartphones' or microsoft's 2002 tablet. It took apple some serious effort to promote their product to a targeted consumer segment. The lackluster (appearing) prsentation skills by Tony could have nefarious effects on the byteball ecosystem. IOTA is far from perfect but their connections and networking potential, make it more attractive for devs to use and deploy on their DAG.

It is this kind of circlejerk mentality that creates some kind of confirmation bias.

Also, in reference to 'the big short', people underestimate the likelyhood of bad things to happen e.g. hardfork

I'm not sure why everyone in this thread seems to agree that there's no major correction on the way.
Even after the '13 dip, there was a prolonged uptrend before ultimately dipping. Have you all forgotten how fast the hype train can stop? The new money that got in becaus eof speculation's sake is the first to get out as soon as they lose money. I'll be like '29 run on banks where slow (even slower than usual) transactions increase tha pnic sentiment of the market.
Also, people don't need to lose faith in BTC as a whole, it is enough if they believe that they can make some BTC profits if they can buy cheaper.

Hi guys,
First of all, how is this coin still so undervalued?? (easy x10 if you ask me)
What is the expected ROI if I stake around 8k coins?

... Well, I guess the ROI will be 1000% if you say it's an easy 10x... The amount of coins you stake won't change the ROI, unless you're a whale. I can't wait for this coin to skyrocket. It's not even close to its potential.
sooo... just the usual hodl-lifestyle I guess

Btcs volatility is the main problem. In a deflationary state, where the value of Btc rises, people will tend not to spend their coins as they would get more a day/week/year later. That transition from asset to currency might be too difficult for mass adoption.

Is it true that sasha spoke against poloniex (adding waves) somewhere at the start or is it just another of those rumours, trying to get people to sell their holdings?

10x is 1 bilion USD sir i woudnt count on that. Also Steem pump was on 2.5% of total token supply while WAVES has all 100mil tokens available so 10x is very hard to achieve. i mean second marketcap crypto sounds premature and "too moonish".
x30 is 1 billion USD

Luxembourg, Jill Stein.
If I had to pick either Trump or Hillary though, I might pick Trump. I believe that he'll be better suited for the upcoming recession; wait 'til you see how the FED will great their future president.
(Also out of curiosity, would he be a Bush-Disaster or a Reagan-Wonder). Plus I don't like how beeing a wwoman is presented as a plus, I cringed everytime Hillary mentioned "first woman president" as if it would mean anything.

Re: Your opinion on recreational drug use
by
DrTeddus
on 17/09/2016, 12:22:25 UTC
Recreational is fine (although I myself haven't consumed any so far), it becomes a problem when the use has an escapist background. Also, drugs are only addictive if their use offers a 'better' reality, MDMA and LSD for example are very situational drugs therefore rarely addictive (besides, everything can become an addiction).
Weed and other opiates should be seen as a temporary stimulant/relief, it becomes a problem when their use becomes highly regular. One should find the source of their stress instead of trying to ignore it.

How much are you looking for because to buy a new phone or a new car the money can't be earned fast, unless you are "playing" with a large amount of money.

If you know more than a language (besides English) you can participate translating threads into this language and get reward for your work.

Wait, is this a thing? I'm fluent in 4 Languages (G/FR/ENG/LUX), ever tried it youself? If yes, has it worked?

Not to be indiscrete, but depending on where you live you might have different opportunities.
Still a silly question to ask, fast/easy money is an illusion.

Btw, is there any way to synch wallet faster, i'm 47 weeks late?
