Thank you, bitmover.

@adolvlovo: I just want to get the same info I can retrieve from the Bitcoin network by typing the command within the Bitcoin Core CLI without using it.

Is there a way to retrieve bitcoin statistics, such as Difficulty and Hashrate freqently (especially with JavaScript)? How?

Thank to both of you for providing me the information I need. Electrum might be a solution. I'd appreciate having a board admin move this thread to the Armory forum.

Armory keeps saying "Scanning Transaction History"

Hello,

I am using Bitcoin Core version 0.21.1
and Armory in version 0.96

on Windows 10, both in the portable version (which does not need to be installed). I have not changed any settings on the programs except: "Minimize to systemtray when open" and "Minimize to systemtray on close" enabled in Armory. I also added Armory to the registry so that it starts automatically with Windows (Screenshot 1).
Bitcoin Core checked the blockchain completely in pruned mode. I then started Armory and it told me my blockchain was up to date. Now I restarted my computer and with it Armory and it only shows me "Scanning Transaction History" (Screenshot 2).

What is the reason?
Can I still make transactions?

How can I start Bitcoin Core on Windows without a graphical user interface, i.e. only the thread that synchronizes the blockchain? Or is there even a way to start the GUI minimized (in the system tray)?

  • Less security. By verifying the transactions you don't have to trust anyone's words that what he's telling you is true. Your computer's verification speaks by itself.
There's indeed one point I don't understand so far. Why is my security compromised that way?

I don't understand what is meant by this.

What does this mean? You may help me, by explaining those points in a different way.

Is there a wallet, which can send and receive bitcoins without the need of having downloaded the complete blockchain?

Unfortunatly, the program stops or seems to stuck at 20% while syncing. Don't know why. Here is the log: https://pastebin.com/jypTD4QY

Do I just have to wait? The disc symbol also stops rotating.

It's working, now. Seems as I'd not have been patient enough during startup. Just had to wait a few moments untill it starts syncing (Armory syncing, not Core syncing).

I use the custom paths of "Bitcoin Install Dir" and "Bitcoin Home Dir" and it works.

Question: Where exactly is Armory building its database now?

Damn, it is the correct version, it's running and it's synced and it doesn't work anyway. Sad The log obviously doesn't schon the correct status.

Thank you, HCP, for your detailed remarks. I did all the way you described it, without success.

Here it is what it looks like right now:

I'm not going to show you the log file, since this wouldn't help. I alreade checked the log file and there is nothing unusual. But thank you.

It is not installed, just running (and is holding the blockchain up to date). Actually I'm running a "full node".

"Again" referes to your previous statement regarding Core.

I don't trust Electrum. Is it as save as Armory is?

It is not safe to use a portable version of Electrum on an insecure computer!
What does it mean "insecure"? In which manner?

I didn't read the whole thread. If I should do this, please let me know.

I tried the option with the config file. That doesn't work, since Armory and Bitcoin Core are crashing without error message during start of Armory.

Maybe I made sth. wrong:
Do I have to write "D:\Blockchain" or "D:\Blockchain\blocks"?
Do I have to put this file into the directory of Armory or into the corresponding AppData folder from Windows?
Is it neccessary not having Bitcoin Core running while Armory runs?

I don't understand the statements of that website. Sad Having at least an example conf file in the directory would be helpfull. Need the better options of the upcoming version as soon as possible!

If Armory is not able to find the blockchain within its non-default location there should be an easy to use configuration option. The options offered by the gui simply don't work. Sad

The link provided by you also is just confusing.

The debug window states: "D:\Blockchain"
