Prepaid burner phones or prepaid SIM cards aren't avalaible officially without KYC <cut>

Seriously? You can no longer buy a prepaid SIM card or a burner phone without KYC in Germany? That's a shame. I didn't know that. Here in Croatia, you can still walk into a Tisak (newsstand) or a Tele2 shop and grab a prepaid SIM with no questions asked.

Re: How Much Has Bitcoin’s Role Changed in the Wake of Utility-Driven Altcoins?
by
FatFork
on 04/05/2025, 10:23:16 UTC

Bitcoin's held the top spot mostly on being the first and the most recognizable. Honestly, I think that first-mover advantage and the brand recognition will probably keep it on top for quite a while, at least as far as most people are concerned.

Common sense says if a crypto actually does something useful, beyond just sitting there hoping its price goes up, it's got a better shot at sticking around. That's why we see so many groundbreaking, problem-solving projects with solid fundamentals mooning overnight, right? Not because of some viral TikTok or a celebrity tweet. Nope, it's all about the utility. Right? RIGHT?!

Re: Experiment failed (Gambling on the basis of AI)
by

...Curious to ask, did anyone ever try this out? it could work and also fall.

I can assume that everyone who bets on sports has already tried to use the help of AI. The results predicted by the AI did not meet my expectations. It should be understood that the AI forecast is based on forecasts of various experts, which are freely available, and which, like all of us, may be erroneous.

Yes. I bet most of us here have tried to use AI in some form, myself included in the sense of exploring its capabilities with sports data. And you're right, the initial results can be underwhelming. Not saying AI is useless here.  It just can't capture everything that makes sports unpredictable yet and  the human factor still throws its curves that scramble the numbers.

Re: Your thoughts on this...
by

Think about it logically for a second. The sports betting market is incredibly efficient. There are armies of analysts and sophisticated computer algorithms, and on the other side pro bettors all hustling to get an advantage. If someone truly had a foolproof system that consistently delivered those kinds of returns, they'd be making billions quietly, not peddling their secret "working method" online.

So when you see some random newbie account bragging about their off-the-charts success rate, red flags go up.  It screams scam.  These scammers know people want easy money and they take advantage of that greed and stupidity.

Re: Is it easy to spend btc in your country?
by
FatFork
on 27/04/2025, 13:22:14 UTC

Here in Croatia, where I am right now, the rules around Bitcoin and other crypto-assets became clearer over the past few years, especially with the application of the EU's MiCA regulation. It's not banned, and there are companies that are authorized to help people buy, sell, and even pay with bitcoin. For example, there are online platforms and even physical exchange offices and Bitcoin ATMs in cities like Zagreb, Split, Rijeka, and Osijek where you can trade bitcoin (and crypto) for cash.

However, I can tell you that, while it's becoming more common, you can't yet go to just any store and pay directly with Bitcoin (there are a few, though). Usually, you'd need to use a service that converts your crypto currency into the local currency (EUR) to make a purchase.

Re: what is your definition of a true gambler?
by
FatFork
on 27/04/2025, 13:15:43 UTC

Its a tricky question. The way I see it, gambling's always kinda been about putting something on the line while hoping to get more back.  If someone goes into it thinking they'll probably lose their money but they just wanna have a fun night out, that makes me wonder if they really count as a true gambler.

I can see your point about them trying to stay in control by focusing on the potential loss. It's like putting up a wall so it don't hurt as bad if they walk away empty-handed.  But even if they're being careful with their feelings, they still decided to play those games where you can win or lose big and  so maybe it comes down to the choice they made not what they're telling themselves while they play.  Does that negate their status as a gambler? I don't think so.

Re: An investment with high potential and high risk
by

on 27/04/2025, 12:04:01 UTC

First of all, he never actually said that he invested money he couldn't afford to lose. Moreover, as he mentioned, he believed that even a complete loss was something he could potentially recover from given his age at the time. That's a really crucial point to consider.

But yeah, you're right, the thought of just sticking it out through all those Bitcoin drops over the past 11 years blows my mind and  watching your money basically evaporate like that, over and over, takes some really serious belief particularly when it's a big chunk of what you've got.  I mean, seeing 80 or 90 percent of your money go poof has gotta take some real nerves of steel. Most people probably would've tapped out way before that.

Re: My fiat story: How I nearly lost a brother because of banks
by
FatFork
on 25/04/2025, 07:13:26 UTC

A surreal story! Kidnapping, ransom demands for milk and cookies, banks with "no service" during an emergency, then a last-minute change of heart from the kidnappers? Sounds like a bad movie plot. But hey, if it did happen, congrats on getting your brother back!

But there's a plot hole in your story. Bitcoin wouldn't have magically solved your "outrageous ransom" problem either. If you couldn't afford the fiat, what makes you think you'd suddenly have a pile of Bitcoin lying around that was enough? Centralized or not, if you don't have the funds, you don't have the funds.

I am surprised you are asking this question. This was a true life story that few members of my community knew about. These kidnappers were later caught by the police, and my brother identified them.

And when did this supposedly happen?

I think old domain names are easily bought almost all 4 digit .com domains have already been purchased by someone. So I don’t understand how you can still claim that domain age automatically means a service is trustworthy.

That's not what I said. Please reread my previous message because it seems you're completely missing the point.

The current domain for the CCECash exchange is less than a year old, yet their website claims they were founded in 2018. (Why do you think they point that out? To boost their credibility, right?) When asked about their previous domain - which they claim existed - their response is that it's confidential and they can't reveal it due to 'special reasons.' So tell me, how do you interpret that without feeling suspicious?

Please note! The domain name usdtccecash.com belongs to a fraudulent imitator. Please do not be fooled, there are more than one imitator. Please pay attention to our official domain name: CCE.Cash. (Due to special reasons, the previous domain name cannot be disclosed, please understand)

I see. Considering the age of the domain, you might be right. But honestly, saying your real previous domain can't be disclosed "due to special reasons" sounds kinda shady too. Just sayin'. That kind of vague explanation doesn't exactly build trust and leaves a lot of room for speculation.

Yes, you are right. But our team was established at that time. If you say that the domain name can determine the trust of a website, and question a team, this is not a good habit.

Well, my experience has taught me that the domain name matters for website credibility. I never said it's the only thing. But come on, a brand new domain for something dealing with people's money, claiming you've been around since 2018 with zero proof, and this whole "secret old domain" story?  It raises eyebrows, period.  It's not a "bad habit" to be careful with your money online - it's common sense. Your story just isn't adding up.

Re: Bitget hacked?
by
FatFork
on 22/04/2025, 07:01:33 UTC

Alright, so their official story is that they weren't really "hacked." I saw what they said about it, and it sounds more like this: "We noticed some accounts were messing with the market, and that set off our security alarms. So, we've temporarily frozen those accounts from trading, depositing, and withdrawing." So, less of a "someone hacked" situation and more of a "we caught some suspicious activity" kind of thing, according to them anyway.

Between 8:00 and 8:30 (UTC) on April 20, 2025, Bitget detected abnormal trading activity in the VOXELUSDT perpetual futures, with unusual volume and price movements. Upon investigation, certain accounts were found to have potentially engaged in market manipulation, triggering our risk control system. Affected accounts have been temporarily suspended from trading, deposit, and withdrawal functions. All other users remain unaffected, and all funds are fully secure.

To ensure a fair and secure trading environment, Bitget will initiate a rollback of irregular trades within 24 hours, take necessary measures, and lift restrictions accordingly. Additionally, for users who traded the VOXELUSDT contract between 8:00 and 8:30 (UTC) on April 20 and incurred losses during this period, a compensation plan will be offered. Please contact Bitget’s official support and submit a ticket for further assistance.

We will continue to enhance our risk control systems and implement additional safeguards to protect the interests of our users. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Re: Pope Francis Passes Away
by
FatFork
on 22/04/2025, 05:56:29 UTC

As someone not even Catholic, gotta respect how Francis approached things differently  humble background, spoke out against inequality, and tried to modernize parts of the Church. That takes courage in such an ancient institution.

That's exactly how I feel too. I was born Catholic, but, like many, I've had my own complex relationship with the Church over the years. However, even with all that, Pope Francis really stood out. His humble background, his unwavering voice against inequality, and that real, tangible effort to modernize, or at least open up the Church a little more. It felt like he was trying to bring it back on the right track and into the 21st century, and that took some courage, especially within such a historically rooted institution. He spoke to universal values, to human dignity, and to the need for compassion. Regardless of your beliefs, you had to respect his commitment to those principles.

Yes, you are right. We did use other links before. In order to adapt to market changes, our team had to modify the short domain name to increase visibility. We have been working in this direction. Thank you very much for your question.
Would you mind sharing the previous domain name so we can check the reviews and its overall history [whatever can be found on different archive platforms]?
Thank you for answering one of my questions, but can you also respond to the other one concerning the automated risk management software (the same goes for paid2's unanswered questions)?

I believe this is one of their previous domains: usdtccecash.com. But that domain is also just under five months old, so I don't know exactly what they're referring to when they mention adapting to market changes and seemingly implying a longer history than that. If that's one of the "other links" they used before, it doesn't really give us much of a history to check.

Re: After the epochtalk failure, should BitcoinTalk be open sourced as compensation?
by

on 20/04/2025, 10:56:01 UTC

For me personally, I think a well-documented API for BitcoinTalk.org would be way more valuable in the long run. It would allow developers in the community to build their own tools and interfaces to interact with the forum. We could get better search functions, notification systems, maybe even alternative front-ends. That feels like a more modern and ultimately more useful way to leverage the community's talent and resources, rather than just inheriting potentially outdated and complex software.

Re: What is the best way to bridge b/w BTC ad ETH?

What is the best way (cheap and fast) to swap b/w BTC and ETH onchain? I don't necessarily want to use a CEX.

Personally, I've always had the best experience with instant exchanges. eXch is usually my first thought, even though it's technically still a centralized exchange, so maybe not what you're looking for. Just so you know, if you were thinking of checking them out, they're unfortunately shutting down on May 1st.  (you can read the announcement here)

Speculating won't do much good now - we'll just have to wait patiently and see what unfolds for eXch down the road.

I appreciate the exch team for their great service over the years.  I've never had a problem with them and think we need more services like this one.  However, I understand why they had to make this change, even if I wish things were different.

So, this has never been heard of?

Yes, this has been heard of. It's called a classic 'too good to be true' scam. 'A mistake made amongst the group'? 'Recovery trade'? That's just more bullshit to squeeze you dry. You got lured in with small, 'easy' wins, then hit you with bigger and bigger demands. It's the oldest trick in the book.

So, yeah, if what you say is really true, you got scammed. And frankly, the fact that you're still trying to justify it tells me they've got you hooked. Just walk away. You're not getting your money back.
