Well... my 10k resistors came in today, switched out the 22k resistor for a 10k on one of my good units.
BFGMiner 3.6.0 - 2.82 GH/s - 0 HW Errors
CGMiner 3.8.0 - 2.51 GH/s
I only let it sit for about 10 minutes on each mining software, so going to let it run for awhile in BFGMiner now.
Before the installation of the resistor this unit was consistently at 2.2GH/s

Temperature at chip: 37.7 C / 100 F

I found drawing a line along the side was easiest, one to two lines did it for me.
my initial scribbling over the top was not necessary :-)
i'd measure the resistance again after, I'd not let it go below 0.84.
you might need the eraser and a couple of attempts to get the right result.

Pencil Mod development.
I modded a one of my other ones, from ~2.2Gh/s to 2.9Gh/s, it ran for about 12 hours before seeminly dropping off, got home and found it's heatsink was coming off ( might replace it now, just apply heat )
pencil mod, not very precise, don't push it too far. good thing is, you can use an eraser to undo it.
has anybody else taken a resistance measurement across R15 (in circuit) ? what do you get ? I saw 0.97Kohms before pencil modding, 0.87Kohms after, the one I took to 2.9Gh/s was around 0.84Kohms (too far).

you need power for the hub itself, plus I find power supplies not always 100% efficent, ie 2amp actually only capable of 1.9amp.
Anyone else noticed that sometimes the LED's on the Blues just blink red on and off but sometimes they light up alternate yellow > orange > red and don't blink at all?

I know in BGFMiner you can toggle an identify switch, which switches the miner from showing the yellow LED on or off, personally i prefer it off with a red flash for accepted work.
Thanks for the info. I tried but the in-circuit resistance stays at 0.97K, no matter how many HB lines I make. So there was no difference in hashing either....
Did you need to remove any coating from the resistor? (I don't think that they would apply conformal coating to a USB miner).

nope, I did not remove any coating. I didnt draw lines, more like a child coloring in, scribble style :-)

R15 was modded, I used what I had around, looked like HB lead in a pacer automatic pencil.
Not sure if it means anything, I threw the multimeter to measure the resistance across the resistor 'in circuit'. measured 0.97K ohms, after the mod it measures about 0.86Kohms.
It's been running for over 13 hours with the same speeds and error rate as I posted last night.
As my pics above show, make sure you have adequate cooling.
I'd like to get a USB current meter (like: http://gizmodo.com/usb-power-meter-tells-you-which-devices-will-kill-your-514285397 ) to see if there is an increase in power draw from the hub. anybody got reccommendations ?

Rightmost BF was pencil modded, also furthest from the fan. my estimate was pretty good, middle fury was 39oC, right fury was 49oC.

Left most BF was pencil modded, Chip definatly gets hot on this side too, forgot the temp, notice the difference the distance from the fan has.

sensor on the erupters, significant difference the fans have, i'll have to re-arrance the fan layout.
Eruptors were exceeding 60oC
alignment was a litle bit out
I have some small heatshinks, might put one on the front of the pencil modded fury.

I might be able to get a photo of the hubs with my IR-Blue, wont be untill sunday evening though, I left it in the office.

Since Vista SP1 Windows x64 requires drivers to be signed and you cannot permanently set testing mode. If reinstalling some other OS isn't an option I'd use VirtualBox and pass the USB devices through to either some linux distro or a 32bit windows guest OS.
I use VirtualBox a bit, I have never tried passing these devices though, does it really work ?
There's another Amtel package that needs to be installed, from repository.
Unfortunately, the re-flash did nothing to help my 1.4GH/sec fury. It's still only getting 1.4GH/sec.

same here, installed the required package ( on ubuntu, sudo apt-get install dfu-programmer )
ran the update script ( needed to run as root so, sudo ./dfu-prog.sh ) #spent 5 mins trying to work out why it wasnt finding the fury
upgraded each of the BF's one at a time, all successful.
four of my five are acceptable (at 2.2-2.4GH/s)
The lazy one is still below 2.0
my buddies one refuses to work, it reports hashing at 2.3GH/s however does not get any results accepted (invalid nonce), when mining using just his bad BF, the difficulty at 1 there is the occasional accepted result but 98% hardware error (using bfgminer 3.5.1). I flashed it however no change.

I have one BF hashing at under 2GH/s that I'll run it on regardless but what changes are there I should look out for ?
