Re: Official FutureBit Apollo II/BTC Software/Image and Support thread

Hello all!!

Been mining for the past 3 years and read through the whole thread in that time.
But now I have a question and problem.

I've got a batch 3 Apollo BTC Full Node that has been running flawlessly for years on Turbo.

About two years ago I got a batch 4 or 5 Apollo BTC Full node and that's when everything went wrong.

Long story short, as I was setting it up, I didn't realize that I cannot hot swap the HDMI monitor between both units so I thought the unit was broken, when nothing showed on screen.
I turned the new unit off and on, switching cables, and ALSO connecting BOTH MINERS via micro usb to micro usb cable on the OrangePi plug.

I thought that was one way to swap settings from one unit to another, not realizing that is only the case for hooking up a Standard Unit to a Full Node. But not with that cable ;(

Since that first initial setup phase, I have not gotten the miner to work.

The new Batch 4/5 miner blasts the fan at 100% on startup and I dont have a red light on the front.

I've copied the Bitcoin Blockchain from the old miner to the new miner's SSD and I bought a new SD card and flashed it with the newest OS.
Nothing. Fan Full speed and no light.

Doing a side by side from the old miner and and the new one, the new miner does NOT have a light on the bottom of the Pi, it does NOT have a light on the SSD board, and the ethernet light blinks yellow (or green?) but does not have two lights blinking and flashing.

Hash Board gets power from the PSU and part of the Pi works.

Are my boards damaged? What's the next step?

Thanks for any help.

Had a smiliar problem after changing the fan on the Orange pi. it was down to the plastic cable that connects the Pi to the NVME was very slighly loose and wanst giving a good connection! Had to give it a really good push in again. took ages to figure it all out  without it you get nothing apart from a light flashing on the pi's an the fans at full speed. Once connected probably i started to get a light again on nvme and it booted up.

hope this helps

Hello guys, some help would be appreciated with the Apollo 1.
I have the older mcu1 edition.
I wanted to use to the new Os as i want to solo mine.
When I wrote to a new micro as, the unit does not read it.
Tried several cards and still nothing.
Now when I put the OG micro sd, it doesn’t mine.
HDMI doesn’t work either, always used the ip to get in.
Ip method no longer works too.

Thanks in advance

Any lights on the front of the unit? does the fan run at full speed by any chance?

Not  revealing who this was but....

I just called the bank that the deposits are made in. It's called Metro Bank in London. I told them about the fraud and they freaked out... Everyone here should call that bank right away to make a complaint!! The more that call the faster things get shut down!

Bank number: +44 20 3402 8285.
Account numbers:
EUR Account Number: 13633018, Sort Code: 23-05-80, IBAN: GB31MYMB23058013633018
USD Account number: 13633045, Sort Code: 23-05-80, IBAN: GB78MYMB23058013633045
GBP Account Number: 13631317, Sort Code: 23-05-80, IBAN: GB77MYMB23058013631317
Company Name: Destino LIMITED

Call them now and make a complaint!!

I once had a call from  Daniel  who said he was nothing but a supplier to BA i asked why a supplier woudl let a  different company use their Bank accounts to make payments or represent them at shows.

I'm goign to call the bank in the morning even though i did'nt pay by that way it may be worth talking to them and letting them know what is going on.

News
Date added: 12 Nov 2014 Prospero X3 issues

There have been several reports and X3 units returned to warranty that have failed during hashing. While the issue has happened to less than 0.5% of manufactured machines, we would like to assure that this is under our standards of quality and we deeply apologize for any inconveniences this has caused.

We take this matter very seriously and have started looking into it with the first report we have received. We have also already contracted several expert companies to help us analyse and locate the problem. Until now we have not received their final answer but their preliminary analysis is that the problem is caused by faulty soldering of the mosfets which allowed them to overheat and enter in a state of short-circuit which caused the PCB to overheat and the PCI socket to meltdown. We believe that the smoke caused by the mosfet and plastic burning is toxic and must not be inhaled. For this reason we ask customers who have just received their X3 to keep it in a well ventilated area for at least 1 week as we did not had the chance to test the latest shipped miners for more than 1 hour.

Please rest assured that this issue is covered by warranty and in order to provide peace of mind to customers that are concerned that this might happen to their machine we are offering hosting into our partner's datacenter in China. This includes any X3 unit that has been shipped or still due to be shipped. Please contact us via our customer support, should you like us to host your X3.

We have an update from Black arrow

October update

Power supplies - fixed

In the light of the issues encountered with a limited number of the Power Supply units, we have been pushing really hard the power supply manufacturer, Apluspower, to address all the issues. Apart from reliability issues, the PSU did not comply with EM emissions, although our contract with Apluspower clearly mentioned that the PSU must be CE and FCC certified.

As a consequence, after the PSU issues were fixed, Black Arrow went through certification procedures. Prospero X-3 is now CE certified. Please click here to review the certification.

We are happy to report that according to our knowledge, testing and 3rd party certification, Apluspower have now fixed all the problems discovered and reported and we have resumed shipping. Please note that the power supply is certified together with our Prospero X3 as a whole unit and not independently.

The old design PSUs failure rate is lower than 5% and replacement is only required to comply with EU/US legislation due to EM emissions. We will dispatch new PSUs on our own cost to all customers from EU&US who wish to receive a replacement, but please note that customs duty are the responsibility of the receiver. Customers outside of EU&US will be eligible for a replacement only if their PSU is faulty. We will not be requesting our customers to send the old PSUs back.

X1 manufacturing – in testing

We have stopped manufacturing X1 and we will be shipping all remaining customers X1.5 which contains 2 chips and hashes at 160-180 Ghash in an attempt to clear the compensation sooner.

Certification for Prospero X1.5 is in progress.

X3 manufacturing - fixed

We had issues with the speed of built for the new units therefore we had to make a contract with a new business partner who demonstrated that they can manage delivery of large volume in a short period of time.

Our new partner has just finished the first batch of units which will be dispatched today and tomorrow. Their assembly speed is a clear improvement and at this rate we will be finishing all X3 deliveries in next few weeks.

14nm Bitcoin ASIC

We are still heavily involved in the 14nm ASIC project.

We are happy to report that after bringing on board more talent we have exceeded our initial 0.3W/Ghash target by 4.3 times by employing all techniques possible in ASIC and algorithm design. Our current design efficiency is now 70mW/Ghash (0.07W/Ghash) which allows us to build a 1 Terrahash chip in a single die while using 70 Watts at chip level. This will allow development of a 20Thash machine while using 1.5kw.

We intend to make this chip available for sale only from stock (No pre-orders)

Indeed very strange although it took jumbley to actually bring it to their attention as they banned me and my posts.....

you can open and should open a case on line - you dont have to be in the  UK

I checked the online version all out after visting and will take you no more than 15- 20 minutes depending on how much information you give - You can list  three people  in the case so i listed BA and there address china / hong kong / Alex and his address in the UK and Daniel and his Company address as He has / is taking Black arrow's payments through his  company ( not exactly legal Daniel ) and he has been to shows on BA's behalf. You can then add more it says if and when needed.

If you do open a case be sure to list my Crime number and also notbatans's crimenumber if the information section os they can link everything together.

To be Honest  I dont really care where they are from - I'm married to an estonian so location means nothing to me - There has been stirring in the  Press as one of the leaders of a political party did state he wouldn't want one living next door to  him.... Personally I would love it.... I'd could just pop round and make sure we get our refunds.

In truth you get good and bad everywhere in the world - Just in thi scase they are Romanian but the could easily be british,  French, etc etc

The police were more interested in him having a prior in Romania rather an being romania with it being part of the EU - Makes it eaiser for them.

I had a chat with Daniel this morning they actually bothered to ring me ( jumbley did ask them too ) I explained to him when i visited the police i gave them his details and his company - He todl me he was just a supplier of theres and is BA is not  his company - I had to explain that not many suppliers let other companies take payments for them and "help Out" at trade shows!

We'll see what happens I put everything in an email and he will speak to the managers - I'm not holding my breath. He said they had sorted out the problem with the psu's. but again i've been fed so many lies over the  last 10 months or so.

Police investigation of course stays open so we'll see where that takes us all.

After i spoke to the police they advised that if anyone else wants to also get in touch you can do it all online - you dont even have to leave your home.

Hi all,
Just to let you know I'm currently contacting the law offices of Charlotte C.Linn in regard to  a class action law suit against Black Arrow.

They are currently running a class action law suit against  KNC for much less than Black arrow has done. Over at : http://kncclassaction.com/

I'm looking at the possibilty with them of doing the same against Black arrow for us.

It is early days at the moment but if you have ANY information that may or even not be useful Can you  let  me have a copy?

Screen shots, Broken promises, Messages from and to, Information about BA or Alex in fact pretty much anything that may help

I dont want order numbers or address' etc at this stage I want to collate information to pass onto them.

You even have to supply a name that way we have the information ready for them.

If you would like to email it to me you can at the following address

NoMoreBlackarrow@outlook.com

(even if you dont thing it would be helpfull please still pass it  onto me)

I know this will probably get deleted but I've finally had enough of all the lies and broken promises

Just to update you as had a few questions from people -

Charlotte is VERY interested I'm going to catch up with her hopefully  early part of next week and will pass on whatever information is sent to me.

Black Arrow know my order number so they know I'm not just competition trying to ruin them (they are doing a pretty good job as it is). I, like the majority of you, am customer that sank in my case over $6000 in to Black arrow along with a friend who sank over $12000 into them. I'm just fed up of the lies, broken promises and silence from  Black Arrow.
US people are interested in Also passing details of minersource on to her. I have no problem with that  - I have not ordered but I am more than happy to include thier details to her as well as they seem to have stopped refunding people.

Thanks

I'm in Europe but please mention Minersource, they keep ignoring me and even tried to ship 2 worthless miners to me last week (6+ months delayed) even after the order was cancelled and refunds were promised. If you need any details you can PM me.

Last Monday I've sent an email to Miner Hosting LLC/ Minersource stating that I would accept a refund of $200 less then I paid, so far no response. It's all very disappointing and I hope to soon leave this mess behind me but I can't just give up and lose so much money.

I'm in europe too  although I ordered direct from BA but indeed will do

FROM http://ecointalk.net  Angry
Posted Yesterday, 04:55 PM

They are not Chinese.  If it isn't apparent, Black Arrow appears to be one or more Romanians who live in the UK.  They pay Chinese companies to build their equipment for them.

I believe they ceased production at their previous factory because the company they contracted out was very slow, and probably because they ran out of money.

They found a new production company that can produce all the miners in three days, but I don't think they are producing anything, because they are out of money.  (It would be obvious if they were, because in three days, they'd be done.  Since that hasn't happened, you can figure out the rest.)

I believe that they are looking for some kind of third party investor who will provide the necessary cash to complete production.

In the meantime, they may be producing units themselves, slowly for lack of anything better to do.

I believe the company is broke.  They may be mining with some X3's to get enough cash to keep the lights on and pay people, and maybe finish a miner here or there by hand.  But at this stage, it sounds as though they are just broke and looking for new investors.

I would like to think differently, but when I ask about their financial situation and why they are unable to do certain things, their lack of answers indicates they are broke.  No denials.  No proof of any kid.

I think if anyone looks at this with a clear head, you have a company that hasn't made a sale in over half a year, trying to pay people to build these miners.  It's game over.

Sure, they MIGHT find an investor.  But this generation of miners are worthless unless Bitcoin goes to a thousand dollars a coin, but every difficulty increase that clicks by, no matter how small, shows us that the machines will be that much pointless to produce and ship out.

It's a terrible situation to be sure.  They took a lot of people's money, including mine, and gave them nothing in return.  Being broke, they have no way to fix it.  It'll come down to lawsuits and legal action before too long, because they won't be able to prove to any investigating body that they can make good on the contracts they agreed to.  They are screwed.  The only hope is some kind of angel investor, but I really don't see how one would step into this mess and waste money trying to fix it.  Not unless they got complete control of the "company" and all of its IP.

I wish Black Arrow luck in trying to sort this mess out.  But the whole thing is a wash as far as I see it.  Pretty soon I'll be able to get 2th for less than what it'll cost BA to ship me my units.

I will post  this here as my posts seem to keep getting deleted over a ecoin etc:

I've been waiting for a crime number for the alledged data breach back at the start of August so i can give it to the UK police.

I was told on the 25th:

"The Chinese police are refusing to open a case because they want a list with a minimum amount of customers which is higher than we have. To open a case with the Hong Kong police somebody from management will need to physically go there, which they haven't been able to do yet. "

And today when i asked i was told :

"We have been to the Shenzhen police but they didn't want to continue as I said in my earlier post. We haven't had time yet to go to Hong Kong and go to the police there."

I'm starting to think there was no data breachand yet again i'm lead a merry Dance Sad

Why cant anyone be bothered in a month to report the crime to hong kong police?
