Coin Goals
Swamp Coin was created to help restore the balance to ecosystems around the world that reptiles and amphibians call home.  As a future 501c3 non-profit charitable organization, Swamp Coin leverages the power of blockchain, cryptocurrency and masternodes to help generate the funding these habitats desperately need.

Swamp Coin will be accepted by animal rescues to fund the medical care and adoption fees required to give our swamp based friends new homes and a chance!  We are are a small team taking a steady pace to build the right network and partners to slowly but surely chip away of the overwhelming cost and effort associated with ecosystem homeostasis.

Hey guys quick one, on nvOC15 it seemed to be internet bandwidth friendly this new version seems to suck up a fair bit of juice to the point where there isnt enough for any other device in the house.

I notice there is a new remote in terminal is that a possible culprit?

No need for Full zero to reply I am sure a member has already solved it.  I searched back the last 30 pages and used search but couldnt find anything.

I am in Australia and unfortunately our internet speeds are ranked pretty poor compared to other OECD countries.

Hi guys, if posted prior my apologies as I tried to search this thread and the global threads.

My question is in regards to 'Maximus007_Auto_Temperature_control'

When I have it on it doesnt matter what I set the 'target_temp' for each card at it seems to like running the cards at 70 to 80 degrees and will up and down scale the fans to keep them there.  Fans are at 30 - 35%.

I prefer a temp of 55 to 60.

Then I thought I would turn it off but even if I set manual fan to yes and the auto temp to 'no' my fan speed of 65% is not reflected so I think the script runs regardless of what you put in 1bash.

Anyone had this issue and either (a) found a way to make it respect the selected temperature or (b) disable it and allow for manual fans?

Many thanks!

change:

Code:
TARGET_TEMP_0=60

TARGET_TEMP_1=60

TARGET_TEMP_2=60

TARGET_TEMP_3=60

TARGET_TEMP_4=60

TARGET_TEMP_5=60

TARGET_TEMP_6=60

TARGET_TEMP_7=60

TARGET_TEMP_8=60

TARGET_TEMP_9=60

TARGET_TEMP_10=60

TARGET_TEMP_11=60

TARGET_TEMP_12=60

TARGET_TEMP_13=60

for b see:

Hi Fullzero,

With a fresh install of NvOC , changing target temps doesnt do anything on my rig.  The fans do move up and down but they dont maintain target temp.

For example I set target temp as per your note to 60 and the cards run at 80.  The fans go up and down on each card to maintain 80.  The expected result is that they go faster to say 55% so the card runs at 60.

If I follow the steps in (b) this doesnt do anything different.

I am using v17 , was this an issue in 17?  Or could it be my cards causing the issue
I am in Australia and we have celcius as our default temperature and you guys use farenheit could that be an issue somewhere?

In version v15 if I set manual fans to 70% they ran at 70% - for me in this version they seem to do their own thing Sad

I think living in Australia doesn't have anything to do with 'Maximus007_Auto_Temperature_control' script Cheesy

I would suggest try V18 and try the above suggested options, there were issues in v17 (I had similar one) so better try v18.

If the issue still persists in V18 share your 1bash with me, i will compare it to mine and see if there is any issue.

EDIT :

Lets give fullzero max time on development getting done for next releases by solving the minor issues ourselves

No worries ill download v18 and give that a shot.  Is there a forum for minor issues such as this one as I agree with your suggestion.

Hi guys,

Installed 12 p106-100 mining cards into the ASrock h110 , when I boot with claymore the mining starts and then freezes withing couple of minutes with error 15 saying that it can't get any temperature info. I've updated the 1bash and the files in the first post but it doesn't seem to be working for some reason... I tried to change the miner to genoil and it mines for 10-15 minutes and then freezes the system as well .

Has anyone seen this before or maybe can advise on how to get rid of this error?

Gday this error caused me heaps of issues, for me it was hardware related.

1. Check that the lock tab on each riser 'clicks' onto the card some cheap nasty risers don't click easily.
2. Check your power connectors on the riser they should all be snug.
3.  Check the power cables on your power supply are all 'clicked' in to the PSU, sounds silly but if you move your rig around its easy for one to jump out.
4. Failing all that a riser could be dodgy, replace one, if you get the error replace next one and so on.

All of the above has caused that error message for me and was a major pain for a good month!  Hope that helps, seen some other people resolve it by disabling software but none of the software stuff fixed it for me.

For me the error was very sporadic, my rig would run for 1 day then crash then run for 5 mins and then crash and so on.  It would run 2 days max.

Power Issues Solved

Rig Symptoms
I was mining fine for a day then 5 crashes in a row over an hour then fine for 1 hour then the rig froze up, I reset the rig it would work for 5 minutes next reset then it would work for a day. Essentially very random and sporadic crashes and freezes.

Changing power settings and over clocking settings to factory made no difference.

For anyone having this error message in dual mine mode

"NVML : current temperature, error 15"

Orin single mining mode an error message along the lines of

" ...Hash gone stale " I cant recall exactly but along those lines.

In both cases the rig freezes completely or you can move mouse but cant execute anything.

Then for me this was a hardware issue , a few of these have caused me the issue over the last month :

1. Make sure all cables are 'clicked' into PSU - I think one of my kids pulled one out as one of the cables was lose - plugging it back in got me 7 days going again.

2. Make sure all cables are , 'snug'  this one was my fault I didnt have one of the cables in tight on the riser.

3. Finally replace risers one by one.  I had one riser that 'wouldnt lock with a click' onto the GPU.  This is an issue these must lock click on the GPU.   I had another low quality riser in a batch of good risers that was just tempermental.

Anyway with all three of these resolved I have now been up for 8 days and no crashes.   Hope this helps others with similar issues.

The web had a few software based solutions from turning down power, to disabling certain programs like watchdog and other programs and even updating drivers none of these fixed my issue.

Hey guys I am running v0013 and it was running smoothly for 5 weeks.  Now every few days the terminal locks up with this error :

Error message : NVML: cannot get current temperature, error 15

Has anyone here seen the issue before or found a way to resolve?

My rig uses 9x 1070s OC settings are cc100 / mem900 which was stable for 3 weeks.  Recently I power limited to 140 ( I dual mine ) but I seem to get the error whether power limit is on or off.

Since the system freezes I cant remote in to reset it.   I might buy a wifi power point so I can reaet it today but would rather a cure Wink

I scoured the forums and some people reckon turning off WD worked in windows but cant seem to replicate the fix in Linux.

Here was one solution :
"Problem solved : -write "-wd 0" in claymore start.bat -in windows power management high, pci off"

Woot woot!

Solved my power issue.  Ok so rewind and I was a rookie and started my rig with 1 card.  Fullzero fixed that issue for me by showing me how to copy my xorg file over.  I think that was also my power issue.

Essentially I re imaged the SSD and now I have power and my cards are doing 28.5 ETH and 500 SC each  Cheesy

For anyone else that started with 1 card and copied xorg over you might want to re image as well.  I was on 25.5 ETH and 550 SC before.

( last time the dual mine switch was on 70 I changed it to 60 )

Thanks everyone for your help Smiley

I think you are using too low of a powerlimit and this is preventing higher OC from making a difference.

What powerlimit are you using?

When dual mining you need to use a higher powerlimit; ensure:

Code:
POWERLIMIT="YES"

POWERLIMIT_WATTS=125
  or higher maybe up to 135 .  I don't have any ASUS GTX 1070 Turbos so I don't know what is OPT for them.

########

Interesting when I first set up rig 7x cards used 1150 watts.

When I had PL set to 125  the power use dropped to 985w at the wall.

Now if I turn PL off or use 135 or 140 there is zero change at the wall it still uses 985w.

When terminal boots up I can see the PL come up but I have a theory that it is stuck at 125 and not changing.

Is that possible?

I have another rig that I just set up with 4 cards and it uses 785w regardless of the power setting.  On that rig the correct setting shows when terminal spools up but it is not limiting power. With 125 on each card I thought it should be 700 w max.

Any ideas on if PL can get 'sticky' ?

Hi guys I am very happy with the stability of my rig but I am still trying to get my head around the overclocking.

I dont seem to get much difference between the following combos

Cc 100  mem 100
Cc 100 mem 600
CC 100 mem 1100
Cc -100 mem 1100
CC -200 mem 1100

They all yeild around 24.5 MHs on ETH and 570 MHs in SC

Sometimes I get some nice results which I cant get again.  For example I tried CC -50 and mem 1100 and I had 27 ETH and 570 SC

I tried some other settings then decided -50 and 1100 was the winner only to find this time I get my normal 25 ETH results.  After writing down 50 different combinations and re doing them 3x each I am convinced they all do the same thing.

If I use these cards in windows I can hit 28 ETH and 530 SC with MSI after burner.

I am using ASUS GTX 1070 Turbos which are lower end 1070s unfortunately.  ( Im not expecting founders edition results! )

I did have the one video card setup issue which caused my xorg to default but this is now fixed. ( I can see all card limits set when terminal opens and I can see the settings on the Nvidia server )

Im thinking maybe my process is wrong or am I simply wanting too much out of the cards?

To try new settings I close terminal, edit onebash, save onebash, close onebash and open terminal.  ( do I need yo reatart nvOC at the power? )

I write down the first 10 results and take the average.

With MSI afterburner when I move the sliders I see some big changes but with nvOC the numbers change by small increments and if I do get a big jump I cant seem to re produce it with identical settings at a future date.

If my process is wrong or if my results are about right in Linux I would aporeciate the feedback, thanks!

Hi guys, I have a 7x card 1070 rig which has been rock solid for 99% of 2 weeks.

On two occasions it seems to have lost internet connection  ( it is hard wired to the router / not wifi )

Killing the session and restarting it does not solve the issue however turning off the rig and resetting does fix the issue.

Has anyone else experienced a similar issue or seen this with certain settings?

When the console says that internet connection has been lost it seems to be correct as opening a fresh web page says the same thing.

Just weird that resetting the rig through power off/on fixes the issue, cheers!!

You should run a half percent full percent commision for your nvOC.  Every other man and his dog takes a cut dor their hard work and you provide better customer service support than most very expensive software packages!

Hi Fullzero

I dont see any of that when I scroll up, and yes I did initially boot with one GPU ( just wanted to make sure it all worked before powering up the rig )

Sounds like this is my issue!!  How do I resolve?  Smiley

look at this post:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1854250.msg19449945#msg19449945

Let me know if this works.

Cheers mate.  So if my xorg file is blank I need to find the one it backed up and copy and paste that onto the current zorg file.

I have the same mainboard as that user as well so that makes sense!

Hi guys,

I still am not having much luck with tuning my 1070s

It is almost like the card is in autopilot mode and not responding to the bash file.  It is like it takes up the bash file but then the GPU overwrites the settings with auto pilot settings

For example on baseline settings cc100 and mem100 for ETH solo I receive approx 26 per card.

If I use the recomended settings in this thread of cc200 and mem 1600 the results do not change. ( I update and save onebash and then reload the terminal.

If I change to cc10 and mem10 still no change.

I tried changing the settings in both the global settings and then set individual clocks to yes and still no change.

When I look at my Nvidia Server screen it doesn't have the "enable performance level editing toggle switch" that the guides use http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?px=MTY1OTM&page=news_item

Do you have to "enable" manual mode somewhere first?

Has anyone else experienced their ASUS 1070 GTX Turbos refusing to accept manual changes in Linux?

I wonder if it is a driver issue or an ASUS specific issue.

I bet the answer is right under my nose!!  (Most likely a user error issue!! )

Note : Everything else I change in Bash file works fine, such as worker address etc, it is only commands in relation to GPU that has nil effect.

I wonder if changing miners would be better?  It seems Claymore is very AMD focused.  In the Claymore help file it mentions that GPU tuning is not possible for NVidia cards.

Thanks all in advance Smiley

Firstly many thanks for creating this masterpeice it reminds me of other great works from the likes of Bach, Mozart and Picaso.

Wink

I tried searching this thread for the answer so apologies if it was answered already, I also scrolled through the first 15 pages.

Question 1 :

I have 2x ASUS Nvidia GTX-1070s running ( soon to be 9 ) but I cant seem to optimize the MHs for ETH mining.

On stock settings I get 26 MHs a card but I have seen windows users achieve 30-33 by changing the card frequency.  I am the first to admit I am a bit of a tech noob and I am sure the answer is obvious.

I tried various global CC and Memory overclocking but it didnt seem to make any difference.  ( i.e 120/400 , 150/600 , 200/600 )

Essentially I closed the terminal, updated the details on onebssh ( while in Linux ) and then re ran the terminal  but no change to MHs from stock 100/100 settings.

Question 2 :

Also is it possible to start all GPUS when running the terminal?  GPU 0 always starts but then I need to hit "1" to fire up GPU 2.

Question 3 :

Has anyone found a good fan speed and power limit setting for these cards?

Question 4 : Is it normal to have to enter "miner1" 3x at the start?  It looks like the config file is supposed to auto populate it but on the image I downloaded 2 days ago this is not the case.

Any other tips alpreciated, and again apologies if these questions were already answered.
