The rise of Ai powered crypto scams
by
George Edward
on 26/07/2025, 07:46:32 UTC
As we all know, the level of scams is increasing at a high rate, with different unexpected ways to scam individuals, and most of these scammers target people who are most likely involved in crypto. In 2024, it was confirmed that the GASA Global Anti-Scam Alliance reported over $1.03 trillion lost to scammers. This is an example of how fast scams are rising. The good thing is that every member in the forum is contributing to making sure everyone stays informed. However, no one knows what the next strategy for scams would be.

Recently, I came across a new crypto scam involving AI I am sure most people may have come across it but just to inform those who haven't. After some research on this topic it is clear that AI has introduced new scam strategies, particularly concerning cryptocurrency and other platforms.
This link shows a woman who fell victim to this.  AI scam.
https://www.mcafee.com/blogs/privacy-identity-protection/ai-chatbots-are-becoming-romance-scammers-and-1-in-3-people-admit-they-could-fall-for-one/
Unlike traditional crypto scams that are easy to spot, AI powered scams have the speed, scale, and sophistication of modern machine learning models, making them more adaptive, harder to spot, and often convincingly human.

Let me not take too much of you time reading I will like to quickly share the Common types of AI powered crypto scams. Examples includes

  • Deepfake scams:the AI can generate videos or images that looks exactly like famous celebrities , influencers.

  • AI customer support impersonation: Scammers use AI to Impersonates support agents from exchanges or wallet providers, majorly to extract i login credentials or recovery phrases.
  • Fraudulent automated trading platforms:  creating a complete trading websites and  mobile apps which is built around fake AI trading algorithms  that offers quick gains.
  • Voice cloning and real time scam calls: AI replicates the voice of a person  you know which may be your family members  ,to urgently request access to a user’s wallet or crypto exchange account.
  • KYC bypass: Scammers use AI generated images or credentials to bypass KYC controls and two factor authentication (2FA).
  • AI assisted pig butchering scams: these Scammers convinced you and then gain your trust weeks or months before they will advice  their victims to invest a large sums into fake crypto platforms, with AI supporting communication and content generation

These AI scams make crypto scams more harder to detect mainly because legacy fraud detection systems wasn't designed to identify AI powered scams. Something that's so smart it can impersonate any user, even create fake investment platforms, is indeed a threat to the crypto space.

A lot of forum members have created topics to advise us on how to avoid these scams, which has truly helped us to stay informed. My advice to everyone is to continue doing research and stay safe because I believe that as long as every member in the forum continues to update or inform one another with information about scams, it will give us a chance not to fall victim to these scammers.

Re: Don’t Learn the Hard Way — Share & Learn from Real Crypto Lessons
by
George Edward
on 25/07/2025, 12:44:54 UTC
My dad always told me a story of three brothers, whose parents tested with life questionnaires and here is the question; how many times will a thing happen to you before you learn your lesson?
First person responded, 4 times the third time I will definitely learn my lesson.
Second person said; 3 times and he would learn his lesson at that point and lastly.

The third person said; "it doesn't have to happen to me before I learn my lesson, instead I will learn from when it happens to my brother's."

Wow 😆, that was really funny and a smart move for the third person. Well, everyone makes mistakes, it's a part of being human that is inevitable. And those mistakes serve as a lesson to us, so it's not totally wrong to make a mistake. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say a mistake is a good thing. But In this our cryptospace we make mistakes, but we can learn from them and become better investors and users.

This is really a good opportunity for these kids to learn about the digital world. I used to remember when I was a kid, I loved playing with toys until I was 16 years old. But if you look at this new generation, they rather play with smartphones, computers, or video games than playing with toys. It's true that the world is advancing very fast in a way that it has impacted many people.

Hard Fork in Cryptocurrency: A Dive into Bitcoin's Notable Split
by
George Edward
on 23/07/2025, 08:29:26 UTC
⭐ Merited by Mia Chloe (4)
Well, I was just doing some research about Bitcoin and learned about Bitcoin forks. I know it might not be new to old folks, but I want newbies who are new to Bitcoin and aren't familiar with this to also be aware.

So ,After the invention of Bitcoin, there have been many other coins known as hard forks, all of which originally came from Bitcoin. The first Bitcoin fork was Bitcoin XT, but the most common and successful known hard fork is Bitcoin Cash. Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash shared the same history and blockchain until the split on August 1st, 2017. The community couldn't agree on a solution for scalability, mainly due to the block size limit capped at 1 MB, which caused slow transaction times and high fees. This led to a split in the community, with some supporting the new chain (BCH) Bitcoin Cash with a new protocol, and others sticking with the original Bitcoin Core (BTC).

  Hard Forks and Soft Forks

Some people mistake all these forks with the original because they have "Bitcoin" in them, which is wrong. That's why there are two types of forks, hard and soft . so people can differentiate between hard forks and soft forks. To put it simply, a hard fork requires all network participants to upgrade to the new rule set and reject the old rules, while a soft fork continues to accept transactions created by the old rule set. The main difference between a hard fork and soft fork is the change in protocol is gradual.

_Examples of Hard Forks_

There have been several other splits resulting in hard forks, each with their own motive. Some examples include:

  • _Bitcoin XT (2015)_: Was the first notable hard fork of Bitcoin. It was launched by Mike Hearn in late 2015, and Bitcoin XT aimed for 24 transactions per second. To accomplish this, it proposed increasing the block size limit from one megabyte to eight megabytes. Bitcoin XT saw some success but was later abandoned in 2018
  • _Bitcoin Classic (2016)_: Unlike Bitcoin XT, Bitcoin Classic also had another attempt to increase the block size to only two megabytes.
  • _Bitcoin Unlimited (2016)_: Proposed a very flexible block size limit, with nodes and miners limiting the size of blocks they accept, up to 16 megabytes. Despite everything, Bitcoin Unlimited failed to gain much acceptance.
  • _Bitcoin Cash (2017)_:Split from the main blockchain, allowing for blocks of 32 MB, which speeds up network transaction processing times .
  •    _Bitcoin Gold (2017)_: Bitcoin Gold is a hard fork that followed Bitcoin Cash in June 2017. It proposed changing mining algorithms to ASIC-resistant.
  •   _Bitcoin Diamond (2017)_: The purpose was to increase the block size limit and change the mining algorithm.  [/li

    • Bitcoin Private (2018)_: As the name suggests, it merged with Zclassic to create a private cryptocurrency.
    •   Bitcoin SV (2018)_: Created as a result of a split in the Bitcoin Cash community by a handful of figures surrounding Craig Wright, a person who claimed to be the original creator of Bitcoin. The aim was to restore the original Bitcoin protocol.

It is indeed certain that all these hard forks were either abandoned or forgotten, but Bitcoin Cash remains the most successful hard fork of the primary cryptocurrency. On June 17, 2025, it was the 13th largest digital currency by market cap. During a hard fork, all history is copied to the new blockchain, including transaction data and wallet addresses. This means that everyone who had coins on the original blockchain will automatically own the equivalent of the new cryptocurrency. However, the value of each coin will be determined by supply and demand.

I'm happy to share this topic with everyone, and I hope everyone will learn and do further research to gain a deeper understanding. These hard forks may have the name "Bitcoin" in them, but this doesn't mean that the coins are better or worse than the original Bitcoin.

Re: Bitcoin mining using an Android phone
by
George Edward
on 22/07/2025, 21:50:44 UTC
Dude, seriously, if you try such a thing, be ready to get a new phone. Mining bitcoin with a smartphone will first of all impact your battery life by draining and consuming your phone's energy, leading to your device getting spoilt.

No doubt, modern smartphones are more powerful than the first computer that was invented in the 1940s. But still, when it comes to Bitcoin mining, there are far more advanced and specialized computers for the job.

I'm sure you brought up this topic because phones are smaller computers, yes. But they have a limit to what they can handle.

Re: The processes to prevent scam.

These are quality good points .The issue of scams is spreading very fast, and every day they come up with new strategies to scam people. And if you've noticed quite well, they are very convincing. As long as you don't know the person, that should tell an individual that they shouldn't engage with them.

Because these days, nothing comes for free, especially money. And when you fall for it, instantly you become a victim of scam, and that is something you can't go back from. You will only have pain and regrets.

Honestly speaking, if such a thing would happen in my country, I will likely be frustrated like the stress would be too much to handle, especially for parents. They might not even have time for their kids or any loved ones.

if this kind of event happens in my country, it will definitely cause protests. And the funny part is that there would be no benefits from any of it that is not fair  .

Well, whether it is good? I believe that there are plenty of ways to address economic issues than taking away people's free time. And an event like this will definitely cause disagreement between both citizens and the government.

Re: 'We Can Double Your Bitcoin', why are Nigerians still falling for this in 2025?
by
George Edward
on 22/07/2025, 08:05:06 UTC
OP what you just said is true  that double your money scam is really another major issue we are facing today in Nigeria. Let me add some more insight on how they do this thing base on what I was told and how we can protect ourselves.

Many people fall for scams like this due to the fact that they are looking for quick gain no doubt  which doesn't make any sense. First of all, when an individual is approached with such an offer ask yourself, in this our country dem still dey see  free money ?which is not possible That's what you should say to yourself, because everything comes with a price once you fall for such all you have is pain and regrets.

While some individuals might still fall for it, after paying a specific amount of funds to the scammers, the scammers might find a way to convince them to just leave it that it will grow. You might even see your money increase and then the scammer will approach you and tell you to keep investing. Because of the money you have  seen, the individual will send more money again. But when it reaches the time to withdraw, it becomes a problem. That's when most realize that it's a scam, but it's too late.

My advise is that it's good to always stay informed about everything, and when approached with such an offer and you know nothing about it find someone with knowledge about all these internet scams to confirm it, so you wont fall victim to it.

I'll try my best, but I'm not a tech expert.
You sent Payment A and B with different fee. A few was higher and B was very low fee. Payment B was first removed from the Bitcoin network and dropped, because its fee was too low probably when there was a congestion in the network.

Bitcoin miners prefer transactions with higher fees. When you sent Payment B again with a higher fee, miners accepted it, and it was then added to a block with Payment A.

What was in the Crypto space at the early time that is no more existing in the Crypto industry presently???
Your thoughts
It's really hard to tell but for me the crypto currency space just evolved through the Years, if you look back in the early days of cryptocurrency the difference of then and now is that there is more widespread adoption now compared to before .
Even then 1983, an American cryptographer called David Chaum proposed a form of electronic cash also called e cash it was the first  attempts at creating digital currencies that ultimately failed, then Hashcash which was Developed in the mid-1990s, it was successful for some time but still failed non actually achieve what bitcoin achieved with that then the concept of stablecoins was not as prominent with Tether (USDT) being one of the first , people don't talk about all this because they prefer to continue advancing the Cryptospace which is good than look back at how it started .
many things has happened in the Cryptospace that if you even start reading you won't stop .

The Taproot Upgrade
by
George Edward
on 18/07/2025, 06:58:47 UTC
⭐ Merited by Igebotz (3) ,WhoYouCantKill (2)
Greetings to everyone. So I was doing some research and came across  the Taproot  upgrade, which seems to be interesting so I want us to know about it as well.
For years now Bitcoin network has been changing in many ways which is truly amazing since Bitcoin originated but one of the most important has been the Taproot upgrade which was implemented in November 2021. since then Taproot has indeed  changed the way transactions where  been processed on the Bitcoin network and it aim is to give bitcoin and many more users more enhance privacy, increase efficiency, and smart contract capabilities .

It was developed by a Bitcoin developer called Greg Maxwell, who is known for his good  contributions to Bitcoin’s privacy and scalability features. The development of Taproot truly involved coming together of other developers who contributed in the Bitcoin community, including Pieter Wuille and Andrew Poelstra, among others.Their good efforts led to the proposal, discussion, and eventually the activation of Taproot, marking a significant change in Bitcoins evolution.
And many users started to benefit from Taproot upgrade

Many of us might be wondering what then is the benefit of the Taproot upgrade and what is it to bitcoin network. Well here are some of its  benefits:

  • The Improve Efficiency of taproot: By grouping multiple signatures with the transactions together, Taproot enables faster and more efficient transaction verification per block
  • The Enhance Privacy: Taproot disguises multisignature transactions as single signature transactions making it harder to know people that participate in a transaction. This enhances user privacy and security
  • The Smart Contract: this truly enable the use of more smart contracts and also financial applications on  Bitcoin network which includes.
    Decentralized finance (Defi)
    multi signature wallet
    conditional Payment's.
Bitcoin improvement proposal(Bips)

Taproot upgrade is also made up of three Bitcoin  Proposals this proposals are basically called (BIPs)  and the three of them presents different upgrades to the Bitcoin protocol. First we have the

BIP 340 aka Schnorr Signatures: Introduced Schnorr digital signatures which are more efficient, smaller, and enable signature aggregation (combining multiple signatures into one). This is important for both efficiency and privacy.

BIP 341 aka Taproot: Defined the new "Taproot" output type, which leverages Schnorr signatures and Merklized Abstract Syntax Trees (MAST). MAST allows for complex spending conditions to be hidden unless they are actually executed further enhancing privacy and efficiency.

BIP 342 Tapscript: Updated Bitcoin's scripting language, Tapscript to accommodate the new features introduced by Taproot and Schnorr signatures. It allows for more complex and flexible smart contracts while maintaining the privacy benefits.

well the taproot has attracted attention of many more users over the years even most institutions are exploring the Bitcoin network because of it level of privacy and Efficiency. I strongly believe that  As developers and users continue to explore Taproot upgrade they will be new applications that will soon come to existence.

I too have indeed noticed how some exchanges are more cautious about data security while  others not that much.

It's truly a  miracle that many  Nigerians folks are turning to Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies that best suits them , and with the DeFi' nature of the crypto currency  also playing a huge role in addressing all this banking issues and making remittances cheaper and more  faster.

It's wise to choose a device that best fits your profession. But considering that most devices are best at RAM, camera, and battery life, their function varies definitely Like cameras now are for those who frequently take photos and videos. Even factors like megapixels, sensor size, aperture, and image stabilization are important to those set of users who are content creators , photographer's And so on.

But considering what we do as Bitcoin is based on time and speed, so for me I prioritize devices with higher RAM and battery life. Because the RAM enables smoother multitasking, faster switching between apps, and better performance when running demanding applications. And battery life is best because we all frequently use our device, and in situations where I don't have access to power or NEPA mistakenly takes light, as long as my battery lasts longer, I can use it for some days before it runs down.

That is why I prioritize Samsung's, as they are the best to me.
