Re: Most profitable PoW coin now?
by

So, I understand that there is currently no coin that is immediately profitable, right?

Then, what would be the best coin to mine right now that would increase in value in the next bull run? Ha ha, I know that's not an objective question at this stage, but I would like to hear some "expert" opinions.

Most profitable PoW coin now?

I'm sure I'm not the first one to ask this, so flame me if you want, but: "What is the most profitable coin to mine now?"
I still have a pile of old gpu's left, and it pains me to see them just lying there.

Xanpool

Does anyone here use Xanpool? I have used them a lot in the past to sell my crypto for cash. Now they seemed to have stopped, at least in Hong Kong. Took my crypto and never paid out. Now don't respond at all.
I would very much hesitate to use them in other countries now, seeing that they probably took the money and ran. Another crypto scam...

2Miners have stopped paying out
by

2Miners has now stopped paying out completely.

I fully get that gas fees are high, but would much rather pay high fees, than let someone else keep (steal) my money.

Trust is a fragile thing.

Just beware, some pools have stopped paying out completely.

Over at https://2miners.com/ they "promise" to pay one day when the fees drop.

Gotta say, I would much rather pay high fees, than have someone else simply keep my money.

You want to stay away.

Yes, of course the 580W consumption is just taken off the software. Off the wall I haven't measured this rig yet.
But the same software reading for my 6 x 1070 rig is much lower mh/s and over 700W power.

Thanks for all the replies, but I have finally solved it. After using many different clock speeds, voltage settings, etc, I finally discovered the memory timing levels.
Wow, what a difference! Now the same card runs at 30mh/s and at a constant 75 degrees (its hot summer in Hong Kong).
Now this rig, 7 x rx580, runs at 207mh/s using 580W power. All temparetures around 75. Nice and stable.

core clock: 1150
core voltage: 850
mem clock: 2125
mem voltage: 900
mem timing level 2

All these settings are now done in Radeon software, rather than Phoenix. I seem to get better results this way.

XFX RX 580, dead?
by

on 27/05/2021, 04:29:28 UTC
I am sure many here has probably had this problem. I have an XFX RX 580 that keeps overheating.
I have changed the thermal paste and memory pads several times. Cleaned the heat sink thoroughly and replaced the fans, but still the same problem.
Is the card just dead? Or is there something one can do?

The only answer here is Bitcoin.

If you want to ask about other coins, you must do it in the 'other' coin area, not here.

You're in the worng forum. This is the Altcoin mining forum.

Yes just about every coin exept Bitcoin. All coins, esides Bicoin, are run by a small group of developers.

Crypto and energy consumption
by
JohnyBitcoin
on 18/05/2021, 02:21:34 UTC
Just want to put this out there. What is the problem with crypto mining and energy consumption? Yes, I know you'll raise environment concerns, I get it.

However, consider this: a civilisation is measured by its energy consumption. Before we discovered fire and used any stone tools, the only energy we had was whatever our bodies produced. Then we discovered fire, made tools, invented the wheel, etc. Until now, when we use computers, robots and other machines to help us live. Our life expectancy and quality of life has increased dramatically.

Shouldn't we concentrate our efforts on using clean renewable energy, rather than restrict our use of it?

Frankly, if there is a problem with too much energy consumption, we should go back and live in caves, and hunt in groups.

Re: Ether Wallet

I have had enough of MEW. Mobile app not getting transactions, getting different balances on the web and mobile app and a non-existant support. Definately not the place I want to store my money in.
MEW with metamask addon is a secure way to keep your coins.

You see, the statements you have put in, seem to be out of sheer frustration and lack of knowledge. If you have MEW then the mobile wallet is not MEW, it is different, are you sure you are using the proper apps?

Difference is balances is something I have never encountered, again this is supicious but all of the time a theft if happened has been a problem on the client side.

Support does not exist is true, but MEW is supposed to be used for advanced users who know how to secure their browser and JSON keystore file - they wont need any sort of support. If you are not an advanced user, I suggest the options provided by the users above.

I would like to hear from your side as well, about these two statements. Maybe there are some solvable problems here.

Sorry, but I do mention the facts. Some transactions are not registered on the mobile app. That is a fact.
The web based app did register the transaction, and therefore displayed a different balance. Another fact.
This problem was also reported by other users, but no response from the developers.
I did contact their support via the support function in the mobile app. Did get an automated response and nothing else.
Having mined Ether for since 2017, I think I am advanced enought to use MEW. What, do they require a phd to use their app, that clearly has some holes in it?

What are the best ether wallets with mobile and web apps? What do you use?

Re: Blockchain Centralised
by
JohnyBitcoin
on 12/04/2021, 04:35:44 UTC
I know people don't like to hear this, but Ethereum is unfortunately not decentralised. Major decisions, like EIP 1559, the difficulty bombs, etc are made by a small group of people.

Bitcoin is fully decentralised, that's why nobody can change it, but Eth, Polka, Ada, Ripple, etc are controlled by small bodies of people. That is the definition of "centralised control".

For instance, the SEC would not be able to take Bitcoin to court, like they are doing with Ripple, because with a decentralised currency like Bitcoin, there is nobody to hold responsable. It is fully decentralised.

Only 6000+ people control it then. So, a 51% attack would be less centralised than the current situation.

Ethereum Difficulty

I know this may be a simple question, but here it is.

Why is the ethereum difficulty so high now?  Is it because of EIP1559?

I'm just trying to understand why people say Ethereum blockchain is decentralised.
Who decides when and how EIP1559 is implemented? When to implement Eth2, etc.
Isn't it just a small group of people controlling it?

Adding a worker in HiveOS
by

on 24/02/2021, 01:22:14 UTC
Can someone help me out here, please.  I have started using HiveOS on one rig. It works fine and I want to deploy it on all my rigs.

Now, when I try to create another worker, it simply would not let me. See attached pic.http://www.eb3d.co/worker.jpg

What am I missing? Why would it not let me add the worker?

Re: Two Nvidia 1060 cards with Lolminer

Okay, silly question here: How do I add commands to the batch file for Lolminer? For instance to use only specific cards.
I've seen you should add something like "--devices 1" to the batch file, but where do I add it?
