Re: Saving is not enough
by
Juicyhome
on 24/07/2025, 17:53:47 UTC
Most people want to save money or savings as they are called, But most of them even if they want to, they can't because their salary is not enough for them to set aside money for savings.

When it comes to business people, most of them do not put their money and they do not save savings in banks, instead they prefer to put it in other investments
that do not let their money sleep.
No matter the salary one earn, always have little no matter how small it is. Saving is a culture, if you can not save at your level you can not save when you have plenty. so no matter the circumstance, keep little for raining days. Because what you save today will save you tomorrow, always have a saving habit in your little earning.

Even business people, do save before putting it into business, when you save and you meet your target you the money to invest in business, do not save to spend it later, that is bad.

Manchester United could have been the club to sign Gyokeres from Sporting CP, but since he made it known that he wouldn't join Manchester United, that made Manchester United not to enter the race to sign Gyokeres, and that's also the reason why Arsenal was able to sign Gyokeres. Arsenal was very serious about signing Gyokeres, but since Sporting CP used Manchester United to raise Gyokeres's transfer fee, Arsenal found it difficult to meet Gyokeres's transfer fee fast.
That is not the case, Gyokeres was interested to play in the champions league, and Manchester united are not in any Europe competition this season. No striker of his level will play for a club that is not in Europe competition, is not that he rejected Manchester united, he needed to play in champion leagues that is why he chosen Arsenal over Manchester united.

Arsenal was not much interested, it was the player that forces the transfer to Arsenal. Manchester united offer was better than what Arsenal offered him. But the player choice must be respected. Gyokeres is not ready to build a team with his former boss Ruben Amorim at Manchester united, he wanted to already made team, like Arsenal who was lacking a top striker.  I wish him well as a Manchester united fan.

Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2024/2025
by

on 24/07/2025, 10:09:24 UTC

This is not just about mentality alone, it's just unfortunate. I don't think all of their players will have that poor winning mentality at the same time. Moreover, they have players like J5 and Havert in their midst and they have different mindset because they are UCL winners players. Again, everything is wrong with finishing second for good three seasons because they had the chance to make a difference but they took it for granted and paid for it. You can not be doing the same thing over and expect a different result. Arsenal usually start their season with a very decent and good performance but relent towards the end of the season when other teams are pushing harder thereby making their finishing at average level.
Football is a game of experience and luck. I think Arsenal lack winning experience and are face with hard luck. a club with title history, will struggle, and it will also affect the new players, If you sign for a club like Real Madrid, and you see their gallery you we be motivated to win title, but in Arsenal no evidence to show. It will take them years to build winning mentality. They have had great opportunities in the past three years yet they bottled it. Because they have no confidence to win title, If Arsenal was a serious club Arteta won't be in charge after 6years without a league title after spending millions for Transfer every year. Club like Real Madrid once a manager fail to win a title he loses his job, that is a club with winning mentality. Arsenal will still bottle the league this season, last year they have the golden opportunity, because all the top four team was not inform, including Liverpool, Arsenal could not take on the advantage. This season, will be very top for Arsenal, because Chelsea and Manchester city eyes are on the title.

How can d former president of naija died in d London clinic, is there no money to take him to a better hospital in London were him can receive a good treatment to recover fast. Dis is a big disgrace to our leaders because d late president Buhari once said that he has invested huge amount of money to build standardized hospital in naija, what make his children take him to London clinic, wen dem no his father has built standard hospital in d country, I think dis is a lesson to other leaders who don't want to change from their corrupt attitude in d country, please d family of d late president Buhari accept my condolences and may his gentle soul rest in peace.
If you listen to Former president Buhari SA on media  Femi Adesanye when he was asked why Buhari  did not use the Hospital in Nigeria, he stated it clearly that if the Buhari was using the hospital at home he would have died since. I agree with him on that, Nigeria has standard hospital in some places, but we lack qualified personnel. last week a friend of mine spent over 1m on his child in the  hospital, because he was  told that his child lack blood. After some days the doctor told him it was a wrong result, they gave him another result of another child. This is the fear of every rich people and politicians.

Even when i was with my dad in the hospital, he begged i take him to abroad for treatment. He was not okay with the doctors and nurses approach, they lack empathy and mostly unqualified.  Do not blame anybody that seek for medical abroad, if you have the resources you will do the same. The medical students are busy creating content online. The educational system is in sorry state, to get it right, one must get it right by fixing the educational system of the country that will in return produce a qualified medical personnel.

Di four things wey you mention de very important for any community to get progress, before person go choose anyone if im get di opportunity to bring development for im community na to check di one wey dem de lack. Wetin one community get in abundance anoda one go de lack for di same thing. But assuming say my community de lack for dis four things wey you mention and I get di opportunity to choose only one of dem to execute as a project e go be between road and electricity.

Among dis my top two I believe say road project de more important pass because without road accessibility there is no how wey development go take enter di community. After road na electricity project because skills acquisition especially for digital skills and most jobs need electricity to de functional. Alternative sources de to get water, some communities get well to draw water, rivers and streams.
you talk well, but as you talk, weytin anoda community get another one no get, and weytin dey you important no go dey another person important. Na why i talk as make you look your community well, and take one project wey they reall need. I no say de four na essential things we all community supposed get, but na bad government dey cause all these debate.

So no pick two, just one we your community need most, you pick road and electricity, you don fail the test be that, just take one wey you fix do with 500m. As for me road dey my community na electricity i choose, wey if i install my community go happy die.

I don't like the negativity spreading around football fans ever since Arsenal became linked with Viktor Gyökeres. Why all that? The team he is joining is known for been the best defending club in the Premier League for the past two seasons and also one of the best creating multiple chances,  he will come in settle in like the king  and give Arsenal the necessary goals. I'm happy Arsenal got a hit man, there's nothing stopping that team from winning the Premier league competition.

Did you expect Rival club fans to clap for Arsenal for signing Viktor Gyokeres? This is premier league, be used to club banter. This is just the beginning, you will cry out blood, by the time Gyokeres play two games without scoring a goal, the internet  will catch fire from Rival fans.

It was a perfect signing for Arsenal, last season they suffered because there was no proficient striker in the squad and they really needed a world class striker, now they have one, Europe National league and Portuguese pro league top scorer. Arsenal has no excuse not to lift a trophy this season.

Re: Drinking vs Gambling
by

That's what am trying to explain since some people thinks that alcohol doesn't have much addictive effect like gambling, maybe they don't know how some people have become addicted to alcohol that they get drunk every day and night. A drunk can not even think properly or manage anything like a business or job. I remember the first night I got so drunk, I broke the screen of my phone that night and also hide the phone under my mattress, when I woke up the next day was around 12pm with a severe head ache, first I started looking for my phone without remembering what happened the previous night. When I finally found the phone, it was damaged in a way I had no memory about. So, being addicted to alcohol can really be bad.
If am to choose between gambling and alcohol addiction, i will choose gambling addiction. Both are evil but gambling is lesser evil compare to gambling addiction. Alcohol do not only destroy your finance, it also destroy your health make cause you more of pain. The funny part of alcohol addiction is that even if you do not have money, there are people willing to buy for you. But in gambling no one will give you money to go and play gamble, you play with your money and when you are broke you stop. no one will give you free bet.

i stop taking alcohol at my 30th year birthday. I when i was taking alcohol do drink responsibly i only got drunk once. I always stop at my level, if am drinking beer i wont exceed three bottles. I apply same method to my gambling , once the spare cash finishes am done gambling. Nothing will make me borrow money or touch my saving. One must be guided, drink and play gamble with your head.

Re: Has self defense become a crime?

You're obviously judging this case with your emotions. This is what the law says, "The right of self-defense is a fundamental right, but it is not a license to take the law into one's own hands."
I'm not trying to be in support of the killings carried out by the Fulani Herdsmen across the country but the fact is that, the man in question has gone against the law by killing the Herdsmen. He had a better option of running away because, running away from a fight is all a means of self defense instead, he personally took the laws into his hands and killed the Fulani Herdsmen. The law forbids that!
What are you saying mate? Herdsmen that has been terrorizing and destroying farmers land and even kill them on the farm, Herdsmen that the government on several occasions has told the farmers to defend themselves, Herdsmen that was proscribed as a terrorist group by the government is what you are telling me that mr Jackson sunday broke the law by killing one and wanted to  kill him.

We keep aiding evil in this country because of tribe and religion, how do you run away from someone that try to kill you? do you know the  situation mr Jacson Sunday was in? Is just like retuning an armed robber gun to him, who was trying to shot you and the gun felt down. Please that judgement with all standards lack merit and you have no prove to paint it good in the eyes of the law.

When I saw clips of the massive killings in Benue State by the Fulani herdsmen, I quickly had a flashback on a case involving a farmer called Jackson Sunday and a herdsman in Anambra State in 2015. Jackson Sunday in a bid to defend himself against a herdsman killed the herdsman in order to escape from the herdsman attack but recently on March 7th, 2025 he was sentence to death by hanging on the ground that he would have fled instead of trying to defend himself. This is a wrong judgement and a redicule to our judicial system. This judgement have raised contention in the legal and none legal environment.

https://www.thisdaylive.com/2025/06/03/justice-denied-supreme-courts-judgement-in-sunday-jacksons-self-defence-case-part-3/

https://www.premiumtimesng.com/opinion/784603-sunday-jackson-a-victim-of-a-miscarriage-of-justice-by-chidi-anselm-odinkalu.html

Now, I begin to question our laws and ask certain questions:

- Should we continue to run when our lives are threatened and properties been vandalized?

- Is self-defense now a crime in Nigeria?

- Is a victim now an offender?

- Does herdsmen have the right to kill?

- What would have been the fate of Benue State if the reverse was the case?

I need opinions on the questions raised.
OP this is a contemporary question and i think we should all add a voice to it, Thanks for bring this up, many people never read about it until today. I followed up this news and also made my contribution on various media. This reduced Nigerian judiciary system to zero. Its an eye opener that there is no justice in the Nigerian legal system. The international community condemned the judgment, but since it was Supreme court judgment its very hard to reverse.

It shall not be well with the judge that gave that judgement, it further show that in this country cow and herdsmen are serious citizens and that is why the government are playing politics with herdsmen attack on farmer's crops and killing the farmers, at the end no single herdsmen has be arrested. Government has hands in it, and they are being sponsored by politicians to achieve their political interest. The case of Jackson Sunday was the worst and obvious evidence that the Nigerian government does not care about our life and properties. Wherever you are avoid trouble and if you perceive one run far.

Rashford simply didn't fit in at Manchester United under the manager at the time. And I actually believe Rashford could be more disciplined when he finds a club where he truly feels comfortable. However, I personally remain puzzled as to why Barcelona, who have no shortage of good forwards, are still trying to add a player like Rashford. This could be due to Barcelona's failure to sign Nico Williams. Barcelona also failed to secure other options, so now all they can get is Rashford.

Rashford is a player of undoubted brilliance. He was loaned to Aston Villa last season and performed quite well there. So I think he'll do very well at Barcelona, as Hansi Flick will know how to maximize this player's potential. Rashford himself has expressed his desire to play alongside Barcelona's young star, Lamine Yamal. And now that's about to happen.

No player can give his best under a manager that doesn't believe in your talent, Rashford is a promising player and one of my favorites. As Manchester united fan, seeing him playing in another club is a thing of joy. I always wish to see him play in Manchester united. But in football no one can predict the next move of a player. Beside Manchester united is not in Europe competition next season. Rashford searching for a club like Barcelona is a good move for him.

Barcelona coach Hansi flick needs a competitive squad, and quality bench. Everyone has to fight to play. Rashford will be a key player for Barcelona next season, just as he did in Aston villa last season.

Even more distressing, in some areas, house payments exceed their monthly income. So, how can they afford a home, even with mortgage payments? Ultimately, they are forced to rent to find a place to live, sometimes having to wait in long lines for a bathroom, as not all rental properties have bathrooms.

Acquiring a house gets harder day by day for young people and even those who wish to stay with their parents are being told to pay rents too. The debate had been a huge one last year, why would parents add to the bills of their kids. Low opportunities and high cost of living is dealing with this generation but the next one to come I bet you won't have much problem with it. Because the internet and Bitcoin age would offer jobs and businesses to them at an early stage of life.
That is right, the future will be bright for our children, they won't have to struggle the way our parents and what we're seeing today. Bitcoin and content money will be enough for them to pay any bills, they won't  have to build house or rent, they will just buy house of their choice the future is bright with bitcoin and content creation.

Right now, rent and buying of land to build are really hard on us, it's not really easy for us out there especially when you were not born into a rich family. one has to grind hard to foot bills, then, you still have some parents that add to our pressure, but no matter what head up and keep doing all you can to buy and hold Bitcoin for your kids.

on 20/07/2025, 10:51:15 UTC

I would have asked for this because I have facts for my own comparison, but it just isn't a discussion I would appreciate being involved in, it is more like comparing who is the lesser of two evils. The fact remains that both of them are evil and it is not worth our time and energy.

A better scenario that would've interested me is comparing greater of two goods, that way I would be happy proving that one entity is better than the other based on good track records. and have fun in the process. If this discussion would've been comparing Yaradua to Obasanjo at least, then count me in.
Funny you, you want to comapre Yaradua to Obasanjo? Yaradua did only 2 years and Obajanso did 8years and was trying to bid for third terms. In comparison, you only compare element that has similar characteristics. Excerpt you want to compare their frist two years in power. Then you can go ahead and compare, just like comparing Tinubu and Buhari led Administration, you have to wait for Tinubu to complete his two years. The reason people like us think Buhari did well is , if you compare his two years to Tinubu you will know Tinubu has borrowed more money then Buhari 8 years and Jonathan  6 years combined.

With the hardship and early campaign for second tenure, one will not have to wait to say Buhari was a saint compare to Tinubu. Believe it or not, Buhari led administration is the best we ever had, check his infrastructure, social welfare policy and IGP under each government. The issues we have as people is bad leadership  ranging from the Local Government Area to Federal, so the president might have good intentions but those that share the common wealth will embezzle it for their personal gain. That is what happened to Buhari, he has good intentions but people around him was bad.

Re: Is it due to skills or luck?
by
Juicyhome
on 19/07/2025, 20:05:05 UTC
So the question is, can we still call that luck? Or is that already skill at work?
You cannot guarantee your bets in gambling. You will have a fifty percent chance of winning or losing. Now if we talk about casino games, then no skill will be of any use to you here. I think casino games are completely based on luck. But in sports betting, you will get an advantage by applying skill but you cannot guarantee it. It is seen that in some matches, strong teams lose against weak teams, so no matter how skilled you are, if your luck is not good, you will lose. So we can say that gambling mostly depends on luck.
There is no skill in gambling, if there was any many people with the skills would have written a book about it. Gambling is the only business without a successful client, the only one that benefit is the  bookie.

It's  a pure lucky game, 100% no skill is needed, just pick and stake, if your luck shine you will if goes wrong you accept it and try again. Have been playing gambling for a decade now, yet i have no skill to use and win bet, i keep losing like every novice out there.  Just hope your luck shine whenever you stake.  as a gambler always have it that your luck won't shine everyday, it might be once in a while. so do not play gamble everyday, bet responsibly.

Indeed, it is too early to conclude that Manchester United will be a title contender next season is not as easy to say even though Manchester United managed to get Bryan Mbeumo after first getting Cunha.

The presence of two wingers and a full-back has shown Amorim's seriousness to be said to be targeting something that many fans expect because fans will surely see other teams have brought in many players to welcome the competition next season.
One thing is to buy player another thing is for them to deliver,  last year Manchester United bought many players that were not fit to play for the club. Cunha and Mbeumo need to fit into the already exiting squad, but the advantage they have is that they are Premier league players, they understand the league better. So it won't  be hard for them to Adapt to the squad.

Manchester united is still build a team, so they will not be favorite  for  the title next season, they should be more focus on top four spot. This year title is between chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool, they are my favorites club.

on 19/07/2025, 07:29:03 UTC
If you're  given 500m naira to fix one thing in your locality, what would you choose? Road, Water , Electricity and digital skills  for youths.
This topic is necessary to test run our brain, on how to develop our community if we have the opportunity to serve, or if NGO assign a grant for us to fix the most necessary  things in your locality, what would you choose to do first out of the four listed above. The people we have in government today has not plan or project in mind, that  is why they are not performing as we expected. The  money is there but they seems not to understand the most important need of the people. So as youth lets engage on this topic and see what you really need in your community.  please choose only one and tell us why is most important in your community.

If am given 500m, i will use it to electrify my community, my community has no electricity, we have good roads and good drinking water. what is lacking is electricity and if i can fix that, it will attract investors to my community, it will help medium scale businesses, and in return it will reduce the crime rate. Everyone in the community will be engaging in one business to the other.

Better don't join in the fight against corruption when you know that you're also part of the problem we are facing in it today, else you're indirectly fighting your own self, that is why also, it is important that we check mate ourself to know that what we are clamoring for is not as a result of our ignorance on what is supposed to be, corruption is not easy to eradicate, but we can better control our selves form being involved in any corrupt practices by our contentment in life.
You hit the nail, at time we just focus on government corruption and forget those working in private sectors, Corruption is everywhere, even in out family and the only way to control it since we can not stop is to speak against the ill of corruption to the society in our homes. The preaching should begin in our family, many children are into fraud today because they think since the government are stealing public funds they should also steal from others. corruption at every level is endangering the society.

The only way to control corruption is for you not indulge in it, check mate yourself and family members, get it right at the family levels before we talk about those devilish people in government. If we see those in government as evil before because they stolen our future wealth, then we the commoners should not steal from ourselves. We must practice what we hate.

All you needed as an entrepreneur is a trace of integrity and honesty, once you have them, you are good to go. Client buy more from someone they can trust. Your product or services should be cheaper to afford than others in your line, and you must maintain your standards regardless of the market, always stand out. when your services are cheaper and good you gain more clients, once you have their confidence they will pay any amount you add to your service as they keep patronizing

An entrepreneur must be time conscious, never go to meet a client out of scheduled time. Be there before the client, if the meeting is at client's office also be at the office on time.  An entrepreneur must learn how to define  what success and failure  are to you, do not take anyone definition. Because your world view is different from others. Set a goal and try to achieve 80% .  Remember success come from the remaining 20%, after 80% and you see no result never stop keep pushing the 20% of hard work and dedication. Failure is path road to success, every entrepreneurs in the world failed many times, as an entrepreneur don't be afraid to fail.

The last time I remembered government called bitcoin and other crypto to be used for terrorism and money laundering is the time of Emefiele when he was the CBN governor. He did not attack crypto exchanges but attacked bitcoin and other crypto directly with badmouthing at the time.

The present day government only wanted naira to be more stable and try to use crypto exchange to lie about what is causing naira not to be stable. Also if they said Binance helped in money laundering or terrorism financing, that is different from bitcoin and other crypto because Binance is an exchange while cryptocurrencies are coins. Binance was sued by the United States of allegations similar to this and the exchange was fined. CZ which was the Binance founder was also fined and went to 4 months in prison.

Where is the former CBN Governor today Emefiele? he is in Dss for  fraud, this show how empty our leaders are, he was using crypto as an excuse for his poor performance and fraudulent activities. He end up disgracing himself and paint Nigeria with bad image, imagine how binance and bitcoin users will view this country.  Crypto has nothing in terrorism and money laundering as he claimed, Banks too are into money laundering why did he not stop banks from operation, or the money he laundered was it in through  crypto he saved it?

we are in trouble as Nigerians, we have leaders that are analog, at a time where who is who in league of nations are embracing crypto and are passing bills for their crypto reserves, Nigeria with weak economy banned crypto. In years to come when it will be hard to buy that is when this rubbish  government will invest. But if USA pass a law on crypto Nigeria government will copy now that USA has passed their crypto reserve bill, Nigeria is left out.

Obviously evil persist in our democracy not because of those who mastermind the evil but because of those who watch evil happen. When citizens don't show up in an election because of the belief that it is already rigged, it makes the rigging even more easier for the riggers. Like you said, if citizen learn to come en masse to vote and defend their vote it becomes challenging for the riggers and more difficult to rig in an election.

Even though our democracy is in shambles all hands must be on deck to ensure that we achieve the ideal democracy and this can only manifest when all citizens of voting age learn to exercise their civic duty of voting for a candidate in an election. Your candidate is the right candidate so it is always wise to vote for a candidate. Afterall, the fact that there are different candidates makes it an election.
That is what is expected from a good citizens, one must understand the habit of their leaders. And how they do things, you are right mate, once you conclude that your vote won't be counted that is where the rigging is. low voters make it easy to politicians to rig election, because they have to manipulate numbers to meet up the requirements, they will help you vote if you do not participate in an election. As a people we must change and start to hold government  accountable by casting vote not only to protest.

Nigerians are the worst set of citizens in the world, i keep telling people. We are good in critics only, our population should have been our strength to hold government  accountable, but we rather stay on  social media to abuse leaders everyday, instead for us to team up and vote them out during election.
