Right -- that is a list of some Tor exit nodes among which the offending IP is listed. That IP in the URL (194.63.142.59) was just part of the search result link from Google but that wasn't the important part.

24.184.196.101 is a Tor exit node according to https://check.torproject.org/cgi-bin/TorBulkExitList.py?ip=194.63.142.59&port=80, so it's almost impossible to figure out who it actually was. Good luck though for what it's worth.

Yep, of course I have been emailing them. The purpose of me posting here is so that my process in retrieving my money is transparent.

I still have not received my one and only withdrawal attempt from MtGox, initiated on May 27, as I mentioned earlier in this thread. I wonder if I'll ever see it.

Well, I did say I would update, and my update is that you are correct. But seeing as everyone else seems to be having a problem, that doesn't surprise me at this point. I'm glad I didn't get too far into exchanging yet, but the money in limbo here is still enough for me to care.

I still haven't gotten an update on mine. Last email was from June 3 asking for my reference number as I mentioned before. It seems like people who emailed after me have gotten their withdrawals. What could possibly be the holdup? I almost feel like I should email again. I'm really getting tired of waiting for a withdrawal from almost 2 weeks ago, but I understand that this Dwolla feature is new to their site.

Did they write you an email telling you they requeued or anything? I still haven't heard from them since they asked for the transaction id.

I've read here 4 days or so, but I initiated a withdrawal from mtgox on the order of $50 to my Dwolla on 5/27 (which is 6 days ago right now). Is this common to wait this many days? I'm just wondering how much longer I can expect to wait.

Well I thought the OP was stating something obvious until I saw people disagreeing.

Consider a scenario where someone from not even a year ago took on a BTC loan to buy a new computer valued at $800 USD. Each bitcoin was about 0.4 cents each then, so they would need to borrow 200000 BTC. At a conservative 2% interest rate to offset risk, that's 204000 BTC.

Fast-forward to today and the loan is due. Each BTC is ~$8.50 right now, so the borrower needs to get $1,734,000 of value in order to pay for an $800 computer from last year.

Do you think someone who didn't even have $800 of purchasing power a year ago would have $1.7 million now?  Granted, I don't think bitcoin will increase in value so exponentially in the long run as it has in the last year, but the point will still stand regardless if you are placing a naturally deflationary currency against an inflationary one. Maybe lending might make more sense if there is equilibrium, but as long at the BTC economy grows and each bitcoin needs to account for more value, then that isn't going to happen.

You don't really need trusted users except genjix himself. He can give out one of his addresses that anyone can put money into until it receives a total of 2000 BTC. At that point, the name change can happen.

One of my friends must have seen the slashdot article in February. I dismissed it for a week because he didn't describe it thoroughly (I'm pretty sure I was under the impression that it was centralized and that mining was a way of cheating the system, based on his initial description). Eventually, he posted a blog post that was much more descriptive and piqued my interest. I spent an entire day reading about it and decided to get into it. Started mining a bit. Got lucky and bought 40 of them at nearly their lowest price since I was introduced to it (about 70 cents each). Holding most of it because of ridiculous deflation but trying to use it where convenient.

I did the exact same thing today and had the same 'problem'. I didn't know about that rescan option, so I don't know if it will work. I just deleted the block data and the client redownloaded it. When you import a wallet and already have blocks, the wallet you imported 'missed' the transactions, so it will not display them. If you redownload the block chain while the imported wallet is loaded, the wallet will see the transactions that belong to it as the client redownloads the blocks that affect this wallet. This had been my observation at least.

Let me know how rescan works if you use it.

Also, try putting the involved addresses into http://blockexplorer.com/. If the transactions show up, they are confirmed (I believe).

I'd love to help out sometime. Didn't notice the call for developers on the other dev board. I've not used Git before, but I have used other version control systems (SVN, CVS, MKS). I tried building the dependencies for bitcoin and ran into a few issues, but I'll definitely give it a look when I have more time.

Thanks all for your responses. I just feel like it's important that we remove as many barriers to entry into the Bitcoin economy as we can. I need way more things to buy and a much larger audience to sell to.
