Re: Market cap of crypto 1% of worldwide stock market cap

That is interesting and a new milestone that crypto has reached but I will be more interested when bitcoin reaches the 1% of the total money supply which is a lot bigger than that, when that happens bitcoin another cryptos will go up considerably and that point bitcoin will be one of the most important currencies worldwide.
Do you think Bitcoin will reach that or rather another new crypto jet to emerge?

Re: Transfer My Entire Savings to Cryptocurrencies?
by
OrganicCoin
on 11/01/2018, 18:52:10 UTC
As many others have said, I would not put all the money in the crypto world, why not split it 50/50 or whatever suits your risk willingness.
A note on the exchanges: In the end, I would use different exchanges, so if one gets hacked you will not lose everything.

Beside this the most important point IMO is: transfer the money to your private wallet and store it in a paperwallet or a hardware wallet like the Nano ledger. It will cost you a bit for each transaction but once your money is stored on something not connected to the internet you won't get hacked anymore Smiley

Those are both good points. Sure as long as new people invest in crypto it will grow and I guess in the end a lot will depend on the fact if crypto gets broadly adapted as a means to pay for goods/services. Then it will have “real value” above the speculative one and the whole discussion about bubbles changes completely.

However, my thought about this was: the whole stock market value is basically the value of all (joint-stock) companies. Meaning it represents the value of a huge portion of the whole economy of the world. I just find it hard to believe that the whole crypto market really worth one percent of that.

On the other hand there are already a lot of crypto adopting real world problems and being more or less shares of a company. So maybe I am mistaken with my assumption.

As you can see I am quite indecisive about this but find it an interesting topic. For that reason, I wanted to have a discussion about it. Smiley

Re: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?)

The way activity is calculated:
The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every hour.

I have a question abouot this part: Is time an integer or a float?

Ofc its int
For example, check that:

Code:
waittime = 360;
if(activity >= 15)
        waittime = (int)(90 - activity);
if(activity >= 60)
        waittime=(int)(34.7586 - (0.0793103 * activity));
if(activity >= 100)
        waittime = max((int)(14-(activity/50)), 4);

Thank you Smiley
Well time could be a float as well e.g. 3 weeks being 1.5. Thats why I was asking.

Market cap of crypto 1% of worldwide stock market cap
by

What is everybody thinking about the fact that the total market cap of crypto is about 1% of the worldwide stock market cap. I would argue that viewing it that way, it’s hard to avoid talking about a bubble. I would suspect a huge correction at some point. Do you guys share that view or do you think I am missing something?

Re: Best tip on saving money
by

I think the first and most important step is changing your mindset and think about what you really need. Many expenses can just be avoided without decreasing the quality of life.

Google "stoicism". Besides being a very interesting peace of philosophy adopting stoicism can help to save money.

On the other hand, I made the experience that it is good to focus initially on saving but move on soon and think of ways on how to improve the income. The combination of both will really increase your savings.

Bloggers that helped me to safe (even from a very low income) are: "Mr Money Mustache" and "Radical Personal Finance", check it out Smiley

Hi there,

I really like the idea of this project, and I consider to buy some Komodo. But I have a question about the coin. If anybody could answer me, that would be great!
Is there any source that explains how exactly the coin will be tied to the Komodo platform? The opening post states "KMD coins are the fuel of our platform...and Komodo services may require KOMODO." This sounds a bit vague, are there any more details about this available?

Well, that whitepaper is just a list of options other coins implemented. It does not include anything that they may consider to implement, or worse, what they eventually would understand. It's just a piece of nicely formatted marketing rubbish.
The whitepaper you keep referring to is the alpha version, so we can expect it to improve until the final release. Smiley

Re: WARNING DeepOnion is a SCAM, proof inside!

The coin is a scam, there is no feature other than TOR in it, what they advertise is a complete lie, it is not anonymous. But they build successfully a big community of lemmings that pay for the older members. They are forced so to participate in the so called "airdrop" (which it is not but that was discussed before). Or simply call it Ponzi.

Well MadMac I don't really understand why you are ranting so much about this coin. I agree with you on the following point: it could be a scam in a way that at some point the team does stop to deliver and drop their coins. There are two reasons why I do not belive that this will happen:

  • Why should they, they will make way more money if they continue to deliver
  • If it is really their plan, why didn't they do it now? It is not guaranteed that the value of the coin will increase a lot more during the airdrop period since there will still be an unusually high inflation. However, it will most likely increase after it, when the inflation stops and the coin is fully developed

Apart from that, they do not state that the coin already has all the anonymity features. If you take a look at the roadmap it becomes clear that, until now, they followed the roadmap. And then I do not see the difference to many other developing teams who are releasing coins (often even with an ICO). Many of these coins initially lack most of the features they will have, once the project is finished. Is it possible that a team promises too much? Yes of course, but this is a problem with each and every new release and I would argue that a coin where the dev team has shown already that it can adhere to a roadmap (like DeepOnion) is a much safer bet then a project which uses an ICO before they did any development at all.

Re: How to solve world hunger ?
by
OrganicCoin
on 04/01/2018, 12:56:41 UTC
I guess the hunger crysis is only a symptom for a world, where goods are to unequally distributed. While some amount of inequality is very good for competition as soon as someone can't afford food its too much. Many actions of the rich countries increase this inequality. So I think the food crysis can only be solved by political action of the developed countries.

I think for BTC the answer to this question is no. But I guess there will be some blockchain (or blockchain like) based currency in the future that could be widely accepted.

Also I am sure it will be illegal to evade tax. So I personally won't encourage to have such services to come into existence. Majority of the governments are already against crypto currency. So if we have any such illegal service running openly, it will further damage the reputation of Cryptocurrency.
That is a very good point! Only to clarify this, it was not my intention to encourage someone with my reply. I guess only if most of the businesses with crypto is done in a legal way it won't be banned and heavily regulated in the near future.

I think that would just be an illigal opeartion in many countries. Probably it is possible if you hide the transaction within a phantom/ofshore company. But I guess that would only be viable for larger amounts of coins.

Re: BITCOIN MAY BE LEGAL IN INDIA
by
OrganicCoin
on 28/12/2017, 17:00:05 UTC
It is expected that Bitcoin may be legal in India as Indian Govt. imposed TAX on transaction of cryptocurrency.
I am not quite sure why the taxing of a certain transaction would change the legal status of the traded good. I guess they do just clearify that the gains, made with cryptocurrency are taxable and if you trade with crypto it is taxable as well. This does not make it a legal currency at all.
