Re: LITECOIN DUMPING HARD!!!
by

Literally every coin is red the last couple days.
I wouldn't be dumping anything unless you have some inside knowledge.
Most coins will be back up 10 to 20% in the next week.

Re: 5 grand.. 5 coins... 5 years

I would definitely pick Monero as one of the 5 coins.

Government agencies are working VERY hard right now to track bitcoin users.
https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/project-titanium-eus-plan-decloak-cryptocurrency/
This is only one program of many.

Privacy is going to become very important in the next two or three years and Monero is one of the most stable coins.
Dash and Zcash will gladly work with Law Enforcement because the only thing they care about is the price of their coins and investment from corporate sponsors.
(ZCash has stated they will work with LE and Dash is #1 not private because all transactions are recorded in masternodes and #2 a partner with Coinfirm to make their blockchain AML/KYC compliant)

Monero will be one of the only anonymous currencies in the future you can trust.
Verge XVG and Zcoin XZC might also be good privacy coins but need a little more time to develop.

Stumbled across this coin and it looks promising.
Website looks great, seems to be actual development taking place, very promising for a coin with such a low market cap.
Definitely worth taking a risk on IMO.

Everyone is just watching and waiting to make their move.
Not sure if this is headed up or down...

The entire crypto market is a giant bubble.
It may take months or years but the whole thing will crash like a house of cards.
There will be twenty or fifty useful coins/companies that make it. The rest will disappear.

The trick is to figure out which coins will be around after the rest die out. Wink

With Jaxx you have full control over your keys too

Except the keys aren't encrypted and anyone who gets access to your device can easily get your backup phrase.
(Over a network not just physical access.)

https://vxlabs.com/2017/06/10/extracting-the-jaxx-12-word-wallet-backup-phrase/

Even when your Jaxx has a security PIN configured, anyone with 20 seconds of (network) access to your PC can extract your 12 word backup phrase and copy it down. Jaxx does not have to be running for this to happen.

With the 12 word backup phrase, they can later restore your wallet, including all of your private keys, on their own computers, and then proceed to transfer away all of your cryptocurrency.

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/project-titanium-eus-plan-decloak-cryptocurrency/

"TITANIUM, which stands for Tools for the Investigation of Transactions in Underground Markets, is a three-year, €5 million ($5.5 million) project that will unite universities, private research firms and law enforcement agencies from the U.K., Germany, Spain, Austria, the Netherlands and Finland.

Project TITANIUM will develop tools and best practices for criminal investigations involving cryptocurrency in Europe, which, up to now, most law enforcement agencies have pursued on an ad-hoc basis.

The project plans to create forensic tools to spot clusters of addresses controlled by the same entity; identify mixers or tumbler addresses used for money laundering; crawl the webs, both clear and dark; and automate information gathering about illegal activities."

In the next few years I see privacy as being one of the major selling points for alternatives to Bitcoin.
(Unless Confidential Transactions are integrated into the Bitcoin Core code.)
Monero doesn't rely on any master nodes (which is a liability IMO) and already has exposure with people looking for privacy.
As people realize bitcoin mixing is not keeping them anonymous (in fact it may be doing the opposite) we should see a LOT of vendors on the clearnet and darknet continue to adopt payment in XMR.
If you don't own any Monero, buy a few coins or you may well regret it.

How many coins do you see that have a market cap putting them in the 100+ rank, yet have Top 12 volume in a 24hr period?

Plus it had a steady volume every day for the last few weeks. Usually between $100,000 and $300,000 a day.
Either this is an extremely well orchestrated pump or someone was buying coins because they knew an announcement was coming.

I agree with PeterTheGrape. There is still a lot that is unknown right now so its definitely a gamble.
I've been steadily buying this coin since the 750 satoshi range, and I still don't know if this is just a pump and dump or actual speculation because of good news.

Right now we are relying on users like Coinbiz for the information coming from Chinese sources. (Very grateful to Coinbiz for any news he posts!)

I'm actually scared to step away from the computer because of how much this coin has gone up...
Sell or HODL?

If someone is doing a pump and dump they are spending a LOT of money the last few weeks to do it.
I really hope this coin has long-term potential because the premise behind it is very solid.

As Coinbiz pointed out its probably hard to get metrics for visits to the site because it relies on Google Alexa.
We need someone to research how many people in China are checking the website! Smiley

I've been watching Lomocoin for about a month now.
There has been steady volume of about $100,000 to $500,000 every day with spikes into the $1 million plus area,
and usually more buys than sells.

Honestly it looks like someone was accumulating coins slowly.
Maybe someone with insider knowledge?

If there is some more good news about development/ partnership price could definitely hit $0.1 by the end of summer.

Re: Is Xtrabytes a scam?
by

XBY was way overhyped.
I don't know if its a total scam but it got pumped, and it gained a cult following overnight.
People were acting like it was the next revolution in crypto, which is a pretty big claim.

Remember its very easy to manipulate the price of a new coin when it has a small market cap and is only on a couple small exchanges.

Maybe XBY end up being good but its got a small team working on it and for me that means it will be a while before I think a coin is worth more than a few million market cap.
(Unless I have some inside information or the developers have a proven track record on other projects.)

Re: Pump'n'dump notifications: is it really that innovative?

Yeah if you got enough people signed up you could say a coin was about to moon, make a couple buy orders yourself,
and then start unloading coins on the followers.
Price would go up as people bought and it would look like a legitimate service while dumping your bags.
Pretty genius if you can get people to continually follow your advice.

Is there any information/ suggestions as to what kind of hardware and connection would be required to run a node?
I think this coin definitely has promise and would consider the option as long as it wasn't too cost prohibitive.
Would love to hear recommendations for setting up a node whenever that information is available.

Is there someone to report to the non Chinese-speaking community what is announced from WeChat?

If anyone can get information from Chinese sources and post it here, it would be greatly appreciated.

Everyone should watch the video that was posted earlier in the thread:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFXkJjgPlII

I agree with basically everything that was said in this interview and think this project is headed in a good direction.

Also check out this presentation by Greg Maxwell (Bitcoin core dev) about Confidential Transactions.

Privacy implementations are going to be very important going forward in the crypto space.

Verge XVG is good but its not going up much higher any time soon IMO.
Its a good long-term hold. You will probably double or triple your money in the next year or two.
For the future? No telling. Sky could be the limit. I would definitely advise to own at least some amount of Verge.

For 100x you are going to have to get in early on a coin with something like a $1 million market cap.
I've been doing some research and I will post anything I find but its probably not going to be a coin listed on Bittrex yet.
You will need to find a coin listed on a smaller exchange like Yobit or Cryptopia or mine it yourself and get lucky when it gets added to bigger exchanges.

29 things that are wrong with Bancor

Great article about the total shitshow that is Bancor.
Personally if I owned any of this coin I would dump it the minute it hits the exchanges.
My prediction is that it makes money at first, slowly drops as people realize its not a needed service, then burns to the ground when the shoddy code is exploited and becomes the next DAO.

I'll be sitting on the sideline for this one.

Buy high sell sober.
Purchase whatever shitcoin is being spammed in the trollbox.
Go to 4chan /biz and buy whatever garbage people are claiming will get them a Lamborghini.
Lose all my money and rob a bank. Die in a shootout with police.

Get rich or try dying.
