faucets actually means tap.

bitcoin faucets give you free bitcoins to try out bitcoins.
Alt faucets i guess would mean free alternate cryptocurrencies for you to try them out.

Ive used a torrent each time.

I just did a re-download of the torrent, fresh install and now I am stuck on 28 weeks syncing for the last 10 hours.

I am on an SSD, 100mbit, 16gb ram, win 64, so I dont think its my hardware/connection.

I'm going on 10 days trying to get this to work...

any other ideas??

You could try to use bitcoin-qt.exe -dbcache=100 setting to increase the cache. That should speed things up a little. Default is 25.

A healthy practice is to check the FIAT value of bitcoin as infrequently as possible.

I recommend once every 3-6 months at the most. Day-to-day and week-to-week fluctuations are as meaningless as turn 5 of a Civilization game.

Nice one.. love the analogy you used.

I think he just wanna check out the performance of the miner that you are going to sell.

No way he could hijack your miner. After all, the physical miner is with you. You can change the settings, etc on your end unless your network is unsecure and he changes your network password or something, in which case, you could just switch off your miner.
