Litecoin is cheaper at the moment to transfer. I'm not sure what fees coinbase charge but it's normally between 3-5% which isn't much at all. Bitcoin network is congested currently with unconfirmed transactions causing the fee to rise temporarily.

oh, but charging 15 - 20USD fee for sending 50usd isnt expensive? thats unreasonably expensive for me

Litecoin instead of Bitcoin?

Hi, shall i transfer Litecoin instead of bitcoin from Coinbase to Binance and then use those Litecoin to trade for Bitcoin on Binance and then use the newly bought Bitcoin to trade with altcoins?  this way will enable me to get cheaper " sending" fees by Coinbase?

I came across some people saying that sending Bitcoin directly from Coinbase to their Binance would charge very expensive fee. but sending litecoin is much cheaper. is that true? some said they sent 50USD worth of bitcoin to Binance and Coinbase charged them 15 - 20USD of sending fee! come on, thats crazy. hope you guys are keen on helping me! and no i cannot use GDAX. it requested for my driver license or sign up as business which i dont have either other than my passport

Paying taxes depends on which country you are purchasing Bitcoin in. In the United States, Bitcoin is considered a property, so you're legally obligated to report your bitcoin as a property investment, and pay capital gains taxes on it if the value appreciates.

If you're talking about an exchange tax, most exchanges take a small (usually very small) percentage of the overall value of the transaction when making an exchange.

If you're asking about general taxes, it might help to know which country you're from before you'll find the answer you're looking for.

thank you so much. I am from Norway

do all the normal people have to know about the tax system? i am 100% ignorant about this kind of things. it can be really tricky for people like me to get into legal trouble for things like this. I don't wanna get into any trouble. so i wanna pay all the taxes that I am required to

capital gain is tax for the 100usd capital plus the 50usd profits?  if so, i could lose money selling at that price. its not even enough to cover the money i invested....

Hi, when bitcoin are realized from buying other altcoins. do i have to pay tax? for instance, I use one bitcoin on altcoins. i have the pay the "x"percentage for the flat value of one bitcoin?

also, by paying for the profits you made from bitcoins.. does it mean....if i spend 100usd on bitcoin...the value raised to 150USD. do i have to pay the tax for the 50usd profit. or is it including the capital 100usd? in total  "x" percentage of the 150usd?  sorry for my English. hope you are keen on helping me

This is the part of the Wiki page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_bitcoin_by_country_or_territory#Northern_Europe) immediately before the part quoted in OP.

Quote
The Norwegian Tax Administration stated in December 2013 that they don't define bitcoin as money but regard it as an asset. Profits are subjected to wealth tax. In business, use of bitcoin falls under the sales tax regulation.[134]

So tax will be applied if you sell Bitcoins at a profit and using Bitcoin for a transaction will be treated the same as cash, i.e. VAT applied.  Basically Norway is the same as rest of Europe/EU, as one might expect, the only differences are in how things and when the details are announced.

yes i comprehended  it as if was an old law passed in 2013 until 2015  they amended it to " purchase  and SALE"  are now exempt from VAT. why they emphasize on " sale" it sounds really tricky. or maybe its just my English is too poor =)))
but . if you say so. i believe you.  thank you for the help

"The Norwegian government stated in February 2017 that they would not levy VAT on the purchase or sale of bitcoin.[135]"

Hi, hope you guys are keen on helping me.I got that information from Wikipedia.

By" sale " does it mean selling your bitcoin for money would not be taxed or no need to inform the tax offfice? That sounds too good to be true.... I know you don't need to pay VAT for buying Bitcoins in Norway which is excellent for Bitcoin buyers in Norway . But how do you define " sale"  selling and trading? anybody can help to explain it? Thanks in advance.
the country norway is one of the bitcoin buyer. in this coutnry many of the people uses bitcoin. and in my opinion i think it is only ought because the government allowed it so they want to earn it but the problem is if the tax is very high it is not right because bitcoin transaction is very high and what you're earnigns if the bitcoin transaction is high plus the tax right ?

to my understanding, the government was also uncertain how to categorize bitcoin when it comes to taxation. so the law was kind of vague. serioulsy. im not too sure either. i  am just tempted to buy some since the coins been plunging  like crazy recently. hoping to make some money off it

From what you posted I can understand is there is no tax on bitcoin in Norway and, if there no tax law or any kind of notification saying that there is tax, I don't think you should even worry about paying any kind of taxes. People buy Bitcoin because they choose not to pay taxes. So if you're buying and selling in cash you don't need to worry. Now if you're buying from a exchange that has your legal documents you could show it as a assect and pay tax on short or long term
However according to me there is no need to pay taxes.

ah ok. thank you so much. but people buy bitcoin because they dont want to pay tax? for real? i am a 100% noob on this. i started this like a week ago =)))
but it seems every one that is involved with bitcoin i came across are complaining about the tax from the bitcoin  profits they make. again. im still learning. thank you

Original source needed for more context.  As written, I would interpret as there is no longer VAT on purchase of Bitcoin, assuming that Bitcoin is currently considered a good or service that attracts VAT.  VAT is a sales or purchase tax for those unfamiliar.

oh on the contrary, because of the crazy high tax here which makes bitcoin impossible to survive here. so they passed the tax exempt law for bitcoin. which is really good news for us. but if SELLING ( for cash )  would also be tax exempt, that would sound too good to me. so i wonder if anyone can confirm it for me? i would be very grateful
