What else will the right time buy altcoin? All coins are almost in red for months. You can buy even with close eye (just kidding, don’t do that).
I know despite down in price no one will invest right now and everyone will wait for the next bull run to buy coins when their prices will be sky-high. That’s how crypto trading is going on, people buy high and sell in low.

The price of bitcoin is going down again and while I hope that this is a temporary correction this could indicate that this is not the right moment to buy any coin and that it is better to wait, otherwise you could buy a coin for a price that you think it's good only to find out later that you were wrong and that you have to hold your coins for years in order to see any profits and that is a situation in which most people do not want to find themselves because it is really difficult to hold your coins in those circumstances.

I think we are heading to this low bottom consolidation range 6.4, possibly even 5.8, after that we will see some upside in the first few months of 2020

for sure dominance is an important metric to watch, in this current market, it only takes btc dropping a few % and most altcoins will follow, hence, you should only hold a small amount of your portfolio in altcoin, and most in btc, using short positions to cover these small drops
Of course, today the state of the cryptocurrency market is such that investing in all cryptocurrencies is a dangerous and thoughtless action.  If you do not take into account the highest-rated cryptocurrencies, especially Bitcoin and Ethereum, then some altcoin may be a profitable investment, but for this you need to pay attention to future prospects and their relevance in society, in addition, a real practical use for such altcoins  of these coins for something, such as the Throne or EOS for gambling and how active this use is.

true but with high btc dominance, every time btc dips, eos follows... its when it has low dominance and going sideways, that altcoins like EOS pump

My most recommend way is bot trading i've never tried it but also going to try and make it. I've seen some videos of it that really quite catch my interest especially when i am lawsy trader and it doesn't just trade for you and provide automation it also gives you profit by trading without any emotions attach. As long as the bot is properly coded and properly tested, i think there should be no problems with this.

There are some platforms out there that let you 'make your own bot', quite useful without having to design the whole thing from scratch

I couldn't say that this is a perfect time to buy but I would like to say is that the price is low and if we are thinking to put buy altcoins, we better do it now. But please don't be bothered if the price will drop a little bit more after buying cause we can't be sure that the price will pump after.
If we are doubted because of the continuous downfall, better not to take the risk.
because there is no perfect time to buy mate, specially in this volatile market but at least there is a chance that we have right timing and that is what important for profiting here.
Although, the market is very volatile but there's certainly a perfect to buy mate and the perfect is by seizing egood utilized y TQ dip price occasion to sell when the price surge.
That is how I look at the market today. If we are satisfied with the market price to start investing in crypto, then that would be great. But trying to push someone to buy, I don't think that is how we encourage people cause it might be difficult what if the market still to dump more. I don't think that we want to blame. We have the reason to buy, not just of being in perfect time we gain more profit but also because how we work on our investment and a good choose of coin/s.

I agree, I would hold buying altcoins right now, although I would still short btc until 6.8/6.4k range

Re: Hodler, you motherfucker.

What I mean is that most trader spend their times monitoring the price for hours like 20 hours a day and 4 hours sleep in extreme way or let's say continuously monitoring the market 14 hours with less rest in it, that's the way people can re buy in the right time

But that explanation undermines your previous point

If you are looking into the market once or twice a week, you may see where the ship sails, and thus choose your entry and exit points (mostly, the latter).  Indeed, if you make a couple trades a week, this won't make you into a day trader (though opinions may vary), but that still makes you a trader, not a 100% holder

Technically, it is exactly the idea behind "hodling", i.e. to forget about your cryptocurrency investments for a few years (the longer the better). You can see such advices springing up here and here of the forum, especially when someone was unlucky to buy at or near the top. To sum it up, a hodler is essentially a failed trader

I firmly agree with you.

Especially during the last days of high volatility, every holders got its portfolio in red (maybe not the ones that bought at less than 7k). Instead, trading would have let them leverage this trend and turn its portfolio into green.

I guess it depends on, if in this period you trade trying to 'buy the bottom', or whether you short, or use trading platforms that allow you to do similar things

Re: Savings Vs Investment?
by
UserMatt1
on 15/12/2019, 13:07:10 UTC
The traditional norms made us believe that savings are a safe option to store your wealth.
But is it true now?
With inflation, we all know that the prices of the wealth we have kept in our savings account will decrease. What is the use of saving when ultimately we are not even able to enjoy what we have been saving for years?
The smarter option?
Investment! Investment is not gambling if done rightly. Very often we see people not putting too much effort into learning and jumping into FOMO. They don’t have enough guidance that will help them to invest better.
You must be reading the wrong books. Traditional wealth management doesn't teach you to store all your wealth in savings. As you said, most of your wealth should be in form of investment: stocks, bond, property, etc.

Savings has its use too. It is not to store wealth but mainly as an emergency fund, a very liquid asset that you can tap into anytime you need a considerable amount of money for an emergency: health emergency, crisis, etc.

That's true and that's why you should diversify you investments, but if you are holding crypto, like random altcoins, and they keep on losing value, then what's the point in that part of your portfolio, might just as well invest in BTC that represents a sort of compound index for the whole crypto market

I don't think lending and bot trading is a good way of earning passive income. It might be an efficient way of earning passive income but it's not guaranteed to give out profitable results every time. It is quite risky too.

I don't know about open trade and vertex.

I kinda like staking and used to stake some coins earlier but then the profitability decreased over time and hence I left staking.
I don't find any coins which are profitable for staking but you guys do let me know if you know coins which are worth staking.

That's true, it definitely requires being a little bit active, setting and adjusting strategies. But with certain platforms they don't guarantee you massive profits, but quite constant most times

A great way is also to automate your trading!! for example, platforms like YANDA.IO, allow you to set automated trading strategies, based on parameters you choose, and make money passively!! Quite good, should definitely check it out  Grin Grin

To me bounty hunting despite the fact that many launched project did not make it to the exchange still remains the easiest to make money within the crypto-currencies ecosystem but it also require patience hard-work and diligence

Another good way can be referalls; good exchanges like binance and other companies let you invite friends and earn from it too,
another great one for it is Yanda.io , they pay you in BTC for referring friends

Each person holding crypto might have very different needs, incomes or ways to spend their time. I'd say, along the lines of BTC being the most permissive form of money, everybody is free to use it as they please. Profit might be the goal, or maybe not. Who knows what obscure reasoning might be behind each individual's decision to hold crypto, but there's very little to be done about it.  Cheesy

well not really.... everyone in crypto is mainly in for the speculative side, if you had different needs (like a safe investment for your retirement), you would invest in a pension fund or safer assets

The latest crash on the markets will be a big lesson for everyone to learn the basics of how exchanges protect our funds. Quadricagx case was the best tutor for me to not give the bitcoins to someone who holds the private keys.

I totally agree, ideally if you don't trade much, you should just hold your funds on a cold wallet or a ledger!!!

Due to the security threat on the exchange, I think it's already losing trust from investors and also traders who had their funds on these exchanges and it might take a very long while before they might be able to gain back the trust they had before the hack experienced.

I can just advise them to keep pushing on and make sure they focus on the security of the exchange so that we don't experience such anymore because that would be the end.

The worrying thing is that they haven't even re-enabled withdrawals.... as soon as they do so, most funds will leave the exchange...

Re: What metrics should my trading bot be taking?

Please move didn't think it fit in securities sub forum...

Ok so I have recently (~4 months ago) I got my trading bot exactly where I want it in terms of algos and the return it is making. I now want to add some metrics the only one I can think of it is P&L. What are some others metrics? Also with P&L is that something taken every day or how does it work, some trading software I have seen only take P&L as the software runs and when application is closed it resets the P&L to 0? How should I handle that.

You should try our platform: Yanda.io .
You can set all the metrics for you bot. Although, we suggest to set smaller profit taking (like 0.3-04%) and then after time recalibrate the bot  Grin
Imagine digging through 6 years of threads, and finding one with no replies, and then attempting to advertise your own product via a bitcointalk post.

Not really the most productive use of your time, or the best way to attract users for your site. Start a service announcement. Run campaigns and improve SEO. Reach out the youtube influencers. Not like this, please.

Thats true (although I did not go through all those threds hahah)

Buying Altcoins can be a bit tricky and selecting a perfect one in this present market is not going to be easy either. I however believe that the perfect altcoin will be one that has a perfect mix of hype, Good market valuation/relevance and a solid project behind it.
I personally like Tron, Cadarno, RIPPLE, Ethereum and BNB

There are a few altcoin fundamentally really strong, like Icon (ICX) and Wanchain (WAN).

Re: Dropil. Still didn't notice ?

I don't just look at a coin because i believe there would be a bull run in the price of that coin in the nearest future, crypto is just far beyond price and it's time for us to have understanding about this, very soon, we might not need to equate the value of bitcoin with that of USD because bitcoin and other crypto will have its own value.

Hence, let's focus on the real live value the project offers than on bull run that won't last.

I totally agree, that's what distinguishes a coin that will be here in 5 years and one that will not!!!

is that sure to get a profit? I still doubt it's just hype, and in the end we will also lose. for such investments I have not believed 100% because it is not included in the overall crypto market cycle. sorry, I always doubt the exact profit offered.

It's now guaranteed, but has features in place like stop-losses, to minimise it going to other way. Nothing can ever guarantee profits, and we don't either. However, our success rate is 97% so!!

Re: Stablecoins are the new money, is this true?

I believe in a way stablecoins can be part of the future of crypto. Big corporations that need fast currency for payments and settlements, will prefer  a stable asset, such as stablecoins whist also benefiting from the advantages of blockchain!
