My balance was 450 BTC, no open positions. All deposits made by mtgox codes. I'm interested in joining the process too.

Bitcoinica can just pull that info from their account history on mtgox, no need to get them involved in any way.

Ah, that actually makes sense. I did not consider that. Thanks!

Well, on the other hand mtgox is the only authority to say that there were no withdrawals from bitcoinica to user mtgox account. Such information may lead to identify fake claims. So maybe involving them makes sense..

Well I stopped to believe to get any of my 450 BTC back. I gave them all information about me, mtgox codes, scan of my ID, everything they wanted. I can't do actually nothing more. Mtgox codes is strong evidence (especially when deposits were made just couple of days before hack). And what is also important I had no open positions, just deposit for interests.

Now I got info from genjix that my account has a lower priority. I've lost my hope, I'm really angry...

Nobody knows anything. The questions you've asked, are the fundamental questions. Even if we still do not have our money we should know how they are going to handle our claims. Since they don't stated that yet, I suppose that they either still don't know it nor not going to provide fair treatment.

"Anything you are saying about bitcoinica you can say about the whole bitcoin economy."

Bullshit. Idiots like you that put your money in untrustworthy enterprises drag the economy down. Stop being a greedy fool and think.

It's hard to make a sense comment on your opinion. If e.g. Bitcoin collapse (for some reason, probability of such is small but real) there will appear other people calling idiots everyone who invested a cent in bitcoin economy.

Bitcoinica was a great thing, that could strenghten bitcoin economy. Everybody know that there was a substantial risk. But we have situation that nobody predicted: no offline backups. That could be avoided... But it's a fact.

I still can't believe you all put significant amounts of money in there less than two months after they suffered a serious breach. And all the discussion since then has proven that they still did not take security seriously at all after that breach. Running on VPS? ffs. Perhaps you've learned a valuable lesson. Look into the infrastructure of sites holding your money in the future...

Since first security breach Bitcoinica became "Bitcoinica LP". Anything you are saying about bitcoinica you can say about the whole bitcoin economy. Economy is based on trust much more then the real economy.
I personally still trust bitcoinica owners. However their behaviour and way of how their communicating progress in payouts is not up to standards (actually it's far far from it) I hope they'll do their best.
If they fail giving back our money they should be ready that some of us will take legal action against them (difficult but certainly possible since they're EU citizens).

Good luck Bitcoinica team. I know it's a very difficult situation in your life but you can do it Smiley

Sorry about the above. It was a slip up by me. Tihan is correct.

30 May 23:30: We're going to proceed with payouts of the few people we have verified hopefully tomorrow for 80% of their claims (the remaining 20% will be refunded later). A more lengthy process will be applied to everyone else.

Transparency is not your strong side. Why a few people (how they got verified, by claim form ?).

We want to know rules!!

That's not an option for me. I live in Poland and realizing cheques would be MUCH pain to me. I once tried to do this with Google Adsense cheque, before they started to sending international wires. It took TWO freakin' months to complete. Not everyone's live in the US you know. MtGox reedem codes for USDs and Bitcoin transfers for BTCs please.

+1.

IMHO returning funds should be realized ONLY through mtgox codes. I'm very confident that we need a trusted third party (as an intermediary)  in this process.

I have been a Bitcoinica customer for the last several months.

I made a number of deposits to Bitcoinica from Mt.Gox, using Mt.Gox codes.
I executed dozens of trades, won some, lost some, made no withdrawals.
I never had any issues with the service so I made no complaints and sent no emails to support.

I don't seem to have received  _any_ emails from *@bitcoinica.com prior to the claims form.
I had a smooth, clean, entirely trouble free relationship with bitcoinica to the day of the last hack.

From reading zhoutongs inane unofficial suggestion I get a sinking feeling in my stomach.

Was transactional emails turned off by default? (I don't like frequent, automated emails cluttering my inbox.)
Am I looking at the wrong email address? Or am I missing something?

*slams head into keyboard*

I'm in the same situation.
I only used mtgox codes to make deposits/withdrawals.

MTGox has evidence that I made a BTC deposit. Maybe MTGox could take part in verification process ?

I think most of bitcoinica users has an account in MTGox.

Still nothing up at bitconica.com.  Is the demise of the site terminal?  Three days without even a splash page on the web site telling users there's a problem.  Unless every Bitcoinica user reads this forum (or Slashdot et al), they'd think the site's operators took the money and ran.  Not a good look.

Try http://www.bitcoinica.com (not https) there's some info since yesterday.

Re: The Real Story | What is considered manipulation?
by

Manipulator = someone who trades far more than me, for larger amounts, in large transactions, moving the price against my position and not warning me in advance.

I'd say, Manipulator = someone who owns as many assets as > 20% of total market value. He don't have to catch the knife. He's not the market consumer as we are. He creates the market. He is the market.

Of course as long as the bigger guy comes.

Can you provide some evidence that it was one guy? It didn't look like one guy pushing the price back up to me. Actually, the dump looked more like one guy than the climb back.

No strong evidence, it's only my private opinion based on mtgoxlive observation. BIDS were changing in a very organised manner, that i simply don't believe in such a coincidence.

Cheers people, we have some very strong stability! A strong market.

This so-called stability is due to only one gamer. Price was just about to dive deeply, but than somebody showed the money and pump value to its previous level.

What stops one person trading with himself on two accounts on Gox?

Presumably having only one account gives possibility to trade with yourself. Does mt gox set any constraint that lowest ASK has to be greater than highest BID ?

Re: 50 BTC Per Block to 25 in 2012 !?!?!?!?!
by
WhatsHappening
on 03/02/2012, 17:33:04 UTC
Realistically, when it happens a bunch of people will shut down their rigs b/c of electricity costs, then the difficulty will go down. So although the blocks will be only 25btc it will be easier to get them. Similar to what happened when the $ value of the btc crashed.

Well, there're about 7200 new BTC mined each day. Let's assume that about half of them is to be sold, which makes constant supply pressure on market. As a result, the bitcoin price may get doubled. 25, 50 are just nominals which does not correspond to market value. Difficulty may remain on the same level.

Greetings everyone!

I represent TAYPE International https://taypeinternational.com, a Canadian company with over 10 years of IT consulting expertise and operations both north and south of the border. We have just released two small open-source projects:

CryptoX, BTC-e and Intersango coming soon! There is nothing particularly revolutionary about this code, just a good old fashioned .NET wrapper provided as a convenience for the M$ developer community. Hope it helps someone out there! Feel free to contact us with requests!

Hi thanks for that !
