I'm going to chime in that I met Ron at CoinSummit this past week and had a really nice talk about what Mastercoin is doing. As an investor that was losing faith, It was a very productive discussion that has fully reassured me. Perhaps the MSC guys aren't the best at doing PR, but they really seem to know what they are doing otherwise.

I would encourage anyone who has real questions to try and meet the Mastercoin guys in person. They seem far and away the most competent at what they are doing in the Bitcoin 2.0 sphere.

So, as an investor- to hopefully counter a bit of the negativity here: I was very impressed.

Why Mastercoin trade volume is so low? We get new centralized exchange and still 24 hour volume worth of $338. In coinmarketcap.com that is same level with Tickets what have higher trade volume. Still price is "+15.63 %"  Shocked http://coinmarketcap.com/volume.html#msc

Speaking objectively, it is because the distribution is low and concentrated in MSC. Like with Bitcoin, the majority of those interested already invested what they were willing to invest in the past, and since  bid support is currently low since it depends on growth and not much has happened in the past couple months, any increasing ask support will send it down like it has been. 'No news is good news', so they say, which I'll admit is not very encouraging.

However, as I understand it, MasterCore as a reference platform will help accelerate development into the other features and there still is $1.8M (3x more than what we first crowdfunded with) to leverage and grow with instead of just simply working under the paradigm of cutting costs. We're reoptimizing effort vs expected output wherever we can with an emphasis of expanding into the most conducive areas of value.

I am so disappointed with MSC team! Wasting hundreds  BTC and nearly one years, you guys provide no wallet easy to use and  commit suicide by manipulating the MSC price in the fundraising of MAIDSAFE.

It's time to change the record- I think we've heard this one before.........

Read the MSC blog- cool stuff is coming. Give it time.

I had a chance to show the Aeternum KeyVault around today at La Maison du Bitcoin in Paris. What a cool space! Not only do I wish I lived in Paris because it's so beautiful, but because La Maison du Bitcoin is such a beautiful Coworking with cool energy!

Also check out the new case for the devices- a high impact resin case. I'm thinking about selling the devices direct in this case as well.

Hi all,

I want to clarify a couple of things.
We are a small team, which is not an excuse, just fact.
We are trying to cover, and I'm sure I'll forget something,
1. Phone
2. Twitter
3. Facebook
4. Email
5. Reddit
6. (A lot of) forums
7. Skype
8. Webchat

It's quite a few channels, and I'm sure that we can improve.  We are not a help desk team, we are developers and business people.  I personally would be ashamed of fronting our fledgling company with inexperienced help desk people charged with making reassuring but meaningless responses!

You are trying to do too much with too little. Cover one communication channel, and one channel only. Drop the Skype, Webchat, Facebook, Phone, (Lot of Forums) and get one simple place you can stay in touch. Run your own simple discussion forum or just use Reddit. Period. I understand you are very talented and have a great track record, and I'm as excited about swarm as anyone, but you are freaking me the heck out concerning your abilities to pull this off by focusing on a 8+ channels of communication with 3 dudes that can't get back in touch using a single one of them. It's screaming style over substance (Like that 24/7 chat room that is empty). PLEASE cut out all of this and just stick to either your own forum, or better yet JUST stick to reddit (So you don't have to actually run the forum yourself). Nothing else. Screw the twitter, facebook, Skype, etc.. until you actually have a product and not just our money. In the meantime, keep in touch non-stop, but one channel of communication, and skip the chatrooms. Honestly. If your developers have time at this point in the project to chat to anyone who drops into the skype lounge, then please let me have my Bitcoin back. Because those are not the developers I thought I was funding.

I agree with the above. My experience so far as an investor has been nothing short of shocking. In fact, I want out. I have placed a sell order below market price at www.counterwallet.co/#pages/buysell.html

You have our hard earned money, but you fail to earn our trust.

For a project of this magnitude with this much funding, it is inconceivable to me that minimal planning has been put in place to support investors.

Well, give them a little bit of a break- It's only been a couple days. stuff takes months to take shape. I think they get the point and will get on it.  Good luck with your sell- but saying you want out because you think it's maybe a failure isn't really such a good way to make a sale! :-)

EDIT: I don't mean to be harsh. Sorry if I sound that way. Maybe instead of Reddit, just use this thread here. Keep it simple. Answer everyones questions in one go. :-)
EDIT2: Maybe just pick a time of day questions will be answered as well IE: 10am each day, all the questions from the previous day will be address. It's a simple way to wait until everything has been asked, and that way people know when to expect and answer, and you get a chance to carefully think through each answer so it's comprehensive, well composed and clear. Also it will cut down on needing to answer the same "Whats the golden ticket?" question that gets asked over and over. And People can be refered to earlier answers if they are being repetitive. You can then just compile each daily answer into an FAQ that gts uploaded to the site. So you don't have to answer old questions more then once, you just say, "See FAQ". Simple.

We invite anyone who has urgent questions to please PM or join the Swarm skype chat

And you can't just post the link to this?

EDIT: for the record- the 24/7 chat never has anyone in it.

Sorry, but 6 figure salaries from our BTC & minimal effort to provide accessibility & support for investors is just plain rude.

I am in the Skype chat room, & even in there they are unresponsive..

Hi Marcus - I am chatting with you in the Skype right now and taking in all your concerns, please bear in mind that the headoffice in Berlin is closed as its the middle of the night there and I would like to ensure you are getting your concerns addresssed

I think you should label your hours. Right now the site says "24/7" support which is something a) you don't really need to provide and b) obviously can't provide. But having it up there only will make people think you're failing to communicate. Also I am sure plenty of people don't realize you are on central european time- something you should clarify as well.

But yeah- you need a forum.

They could fix this- I hope they get on it. It's terrible when great ideas are derailed from failure to pay attention to small details. Also, to be fair- with the launch last night at midnight- they were up very late. :-)

EDIT: I too have a golden ticket. Hmmmm!

Elsewhere they say the difference in speed is 2.2 to 5 times as fast. That is far, far less then an order of magnitude.

CZ decided to launch a testnet, with links to the github weeks before the coin launched. While it seemed like a good idea at the time, to test his coin .. what he actually did was open it wide for people to prey on. I find it not only probable, but instead extremely likely, that there were GPU miners either at launch or within the week after it.

His unfamiliarity with the typical nature of this board left his coin extremely vulnerable and he is now left to contemplate a hard fork to stop the abuse. Please note that with this abuse he might not even have the ability to enforce a hardfork due to potential miner take over. Here is what I'm talking about, and this is half of the daily emission. Thus, 50% of mining is done by his software.

It does not matter if it's 2.2 to 5 times as fast, the time in which his coin has been exploited vs the time it has not been exploited is very large. Unfortunately, Claymore or another developer did not provide a GPU miner to act as a crutch until such time when an open source one was ready.

Fortunately, with the slower emission .. this has a chance to even out over time. I hope the best for him, but I do not believe he grasps the full nature of variables involved in what he's doing .. this is not knocking his ability to program.

Hmm, good points. However, he could enforce a hardfork even with a more powerful miner out there, as hardforking only requires that the people using the coin update their software. If for example the dev says, "This is the new version" a rogue miner doesn't need to accept it, true, but if all the services and majority of users stick with the 'official' chain, then the rogue miner would solving blocks that no one else accepts.

Of course, GPU miner was not ready on day 1. Brand new algo would take some R&D time. So far, we have an account of a single entity at a ~2x advantage (not exact figure: could be less, could be more). So essentially he has 2 CPU solo for every 1 CPU of joe public solo . And now the pools are gaining interest levelling the playing field.

I would not be surprised if a GPU miner was actually available on day one. Unfortunately (or possibly intentionally), the GPU implementation of Boolberry runs almost an order of magnitude faster on GPUs than CPUs on unoptimized code. Optimization was reportedly extremely easy for those who undertook it,

...Of course, the original CryptoNight implementation was crippled too without us realizing it, and we pushed the optimized code when it became available. But none of our core team had anything to do with that.

Elsewhere they say the difference in speed is 2.2 to 5 times as fast. That is far, far less then an order of magnitude.

Coin name can be changed. Maybe just go with "BBR" as name.
Dev name/nick is irrelevant. Coin can only survive if (sooner or later) lead dev is replaced by a vivid team. Only a coin lead by dev team can survive.

Monero devs have funny nicknames too (fluffypony, tacotime, ...). But they also have two devs with normal names: othe and David Laporte. Wink

Also the "privacy" coins are quite a new thing. They need totally new services built around them, and need a new infrastructure. It will be interesting to see where they go, and if they can gain traction.

Problem with BBR is lack of blockchain.
Quantity of coins is roughly unknown but probably about 500-750k.

Roughly a market cap of BTC1,187.5

XMR market cap of BTC7,805

I for one have no idea what to make of BBR since it has a terrible name. Watching for short-term trading opportunities and developments though.

How does it lack a blockchain?

The GUI is in HTML? If so- perhaps we could develop something like HIVE where exchanges can be plugged into the GUI directly?

What is HIVE ?
Anyway, it it technically possible and reasonable - i can do it.
GUI is rendered by WebKit, the same web engine that used in Chrome browser.

Hive is the OSX Bitcoin wallet. https://www.hivewallet.com/  It looks great and has plugins.

BBR/BTC  +156.6%    Last: 0.00231  High: 0.00301  Low: 0.000815

I think we missed the train yesterday. Sad

Maybe not, there are some serious issues at the moment and talk about a hard fork- so don't feel so bad. Those gains might be only temporary.
I think those "gains" were because of the GUI wallet news (yesterday?). On my opinion a GUI wallet have almost noting to add to the current value and this is a two days hype. If you think you missed the train and want to buy I think it's going to be where it was very soon. I have less then 1 BTC and some XMR and I'm not replacing any of those for BBR. If i had for example 100 BTC - why not - I was going to buy some just in case.

Additionally, I'd like to add that there's very little supply. There's been a 50 BTC buy wall @ a price of 177% of yesterdays starting value before the spike .. it's been there for hours. Nobody has sold into it. To further test this, I put out a few very small orders of my own and, again, nobody sold into my buys until a little over an hour (I set them at 230% of yesterdays value!) . I think this has a lot to do with the private GPU miner situation .. where the people who don't have access to it are forced to have extreme expectations on what price they should sell at. I literally can't buy any at a price that's more than double yesterday! I wouldn't even consider paying more than that .. so ultimately I had to just give up. I hope some real progress is made on addressing the tendency to hoard ..

Well hoarding is always a problem, but perhaps there are just too few of them to not hoard, if you know what I mean.

EDIT: how fast is the supply increasing?

Can anyone explain please:
- Why we need a hardfork (or not)?
- What about the scratchpad ?

there are gpu miners for wild keccack now (which is used by bbr).
as this coin is intended to be cpu only there is a scratchpad needed for mining (just as a added memory requirement).
a gpu dev figured out how to store it effeciently: so we are talking about a hardfork to change the size of the scratchpad (or to change anything else we want to)
to be more correct - wild keccak scratchpad is increasing with each block. Now scratchpad is about 7Mb. It will grow about 90MB per year, and, since at this moment scratchpad is not big enough - it is possible to use gpu textures cache to mine it faster, as i know.
But according to dga calculations gpu miner is about 2.3 times more cost-effective than cpu, since big advantage gives only expansive cards.

PS: Probability of that i'll do hardfork is less than 1%. Now we focused on optimizing miner and implementing stratum pools.

Hmm, I based my previous post off of the belief that the GPU miner was 7 times faster.  If the difference is 2.3 and will likely become less with CPU miner optimization and as the scratchpad grows, then a hard fork isn't necessary.  But that's just my unsolicited opinion.

BTW, I like the GUI and have been using it.  Going to play around with the HTML.

Great!
There will bi bugs, i'm sure - so i'm waiting for bug reports to fix it ASAP.
And there a lot of places where html need to be adjusted, since i'm not web developer, javascript is just a hobby for me.

The GUI is in HTML? If so- perhaps we could develop something like HIVE where exchanges can be plugged into the GUI directly?
