Re: [ANN] AMP - The Currency That Powers Your Attention On Synereo

It looks dire but not all is lost
(...)
Moving forward I expect a feasibility analysis of various options, e.g.:

Option A: Run the Social Network on Ethereum/IPFS // low risk
This. I hope the Synereo team will seriously take this route into consideration.

I have got a claim confirmation from SebastianJU, too, after sending him my PM, signed according to his instructions.
Waiting for refund.
I confirm that I have got my BTC refund today (minus SebastianJU's fee, as specified in his post).

Were there any countries where bitcoin trades were already paying VAT (or inhibited because of it)? In Sweden maybe? In the UK?

In Poland they had a 23% VAT.

BTC exchanges in Poland do not add VAT to the value of the trade and never did.
(It was still a potential threat, though).

I have one suggestion to Sunlot: Pay out all BTC balances of 1 BTC or less than BTC in full at once.
I second this motion. This would lower the cost and effort of the subsequent operations related to creditors' equity.
Moreover, such action might help to restore some confidence in Bitcoin amongst many (and possibly: not well-off) individuals who tried to buy a fraction of bitcoin out of curiosity and got Goxxed instead.
Yeah, it may get them confident enough to buy TWO bitcoins and leave them in the New MtGOX.
Perhaps it may, but I rather doubt it.
Believe it or not, but when I wrote 'some confidence in Bitcoin' I meant literally Bitcoin and not any particular exchange or rehabilitation project.
Right now, Bitcoin does need as much good public relations as it can get, and a quick and full compensation for the small-fish victims of the MTGox disaster would constitute good PR indeed.
A large group of angry customers who get back their funds means many less people who have (somewhat understandable) motivation to actively criticize and oppose the whole Bitcoin project.

Besides, the idea of compensating smaller creditors with some preference over bigger creditors appeals to my sense of justice. (Despite the fact that I do not belong to the former group).

Guess not everybody is that lucky. Payout not on time, critical bug leaving my balance in minus and no reply to support tickets for close to 48 hours. But he is making good money, no doubt about that.

Well, you are not the only one who experienced the 'negative balance' bug in Bitcoin Builder.
Though in my case Josh responded to my e-mail in less than 24 hrs and fixed the problem.
(Other than that, everything went OK for me, including withdrawals.)

2) the most prosperous nation and period known in economic history is the free market capitalism under the deflationary gold standard period of the 1800's in USA.

when there was no income tax!

And when there was cheap slave labor. A worthy example of 'free' market capitalism, indeed.

until we can pay share capital in Bitcoin and we start offering equity then there is nothing to debate regarding legality, however we do have a proposal with regards to paying share capital in Bitcoin.

Danny, the above remark has certainly piqued my curiosity.
Could it mean, that if/when required regulations are met, you might consider converting the current "profit shares" into the fully-fledged equity shares?

Has anyone tried the domestic Polish Zloty bank withdrawal route for MtGox? Does that work any better than SEPA?

The delays for domestic PLN withdrawals are as bad as for SEPA withdrawals. Or perhaps even slightly worse.

The EU Payment Service directive does not distinguish between domestic transfers and SEPA payments, as far as I can see.  Opening an account in another country doesn't help either.  The bank will probably allow it, but it will be illegal for MtGox to transfer more money to and from customers without a license, and breaking this law would be very unwise when they are applying for a license.  It applies to all money transfers within the EU.  Do domestic PLN transfers and SEPA transfers originate from different accounts, btw?  Some banks allow multiple currencies in the same account.

They come from different account numbers (but have the same bank/branch identifier, of course).
Domestic PLN withdrawals have currently even longer delays than SEPA, though.
Still, they might be in the same queue and experience some additional problems (like lack of PLN in stock, for example).

Are there delays for EUR withdraws?
I've been waiting 3 weeks for my 631 EUR to arrive to my account and still counting. So yes, there are delays for EUR, too.

Same situation here. I have been waiting over 3 weeks now for my three-figure EUR transfer from MTGox.
So it looks like that euro transfers do not fare much better than USD currently.

Right, right, now I remember... he's the guy who has to roll that boulder to the top of that mountain all the time, but then he falls in love with his own mother, right?

No Tongue

Sisyphus is the on with the boulder http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sisyphus
Oedipus is the guys who kills his father and takes his thrown and wife (his own mother). Unknowingly if I might add because he wasn't aware he was adopted http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oedipus

Somehow I suspect that oda.krell knows that and he is just pulling your leg... Smiley

oda.krell is the guy who fought the Gorgon, right?

Nope, he is the guy who terminated the Roman empire in the 5th century.

Re: Problems with bitcoin-24.com WARNING! UPDATE!

New update on https://bitcoin-24.com/. Anybody undestands German?

There is link to https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2329063/Beschluss%20Scan_geschwaerzt.pdf. It is notification from Polish bank from 9.4.2013 about account block.

My German is not adequate enough, but it is clear that the bank blocked Simon's account for 3 months on order of the Polish public prosecutor.
The prosecutor did this after receving information from the GIIF - General Inspector of the Financial Information (= main Polish AML authority).
The GIIF in turn acted upon documents from the German (Bremen) public prosecutor and the German police.

MtGOx answer:

Hello,
Due to our daily bank withdrawal limit on our Polish account, all withdrawals are queued and will be processed according
to the queue. Once your queue is reached, the withdrawal will be processed and I will update you on this. Our apologies once
again for the inconvenience caused.
Thanks,
MtGox.com Team

10 days is nothing, really. PLN withdrawals to Polish accounts take usually 2 or (more often) 3 full weeks to complete.

But encrypting a wallet.dat creates 100 new keys in a keypool (...)

I believe you understand it wrong. The Bitcoin-qt client always keeps 100 addresses in reserve, regardless of the walet being encrypted or not.
