Re: [ANN] Binary-Chain - VeriCoin and Verium - The First Dual-Blockchain Protocol

I think they are waiting to implement the 2 chains together once Verium reaches a certain hash rate for mining. Not 100% sure though.
When they do that, it'll be a binary chain.
Could you please explain your point about the hashrate sufficiency to implement the binary chain?

He probably meant a hash rate high enough that they deem it secure enough for the dual chain. But i dont think that is what they are waiting for.
It is probably just in need of more development, the dual chain is complicated and not something they can just release without alot of coding and testing Smiley

Last I heard the goal was for a Verium network difficulty of 0.3 before implementing AuxPOW (Binary Chain). It's been on a nice uptrend the past few months, once the Devs finish the P2Pool project (decentralized mining pool) within the Verium wallet, and also finish the mobile wallet/miner it won't be long until we hit that difficulty. Good things coming!

Good day,
Almost more than 2 weeks  I installed Verium Vault and keep it mining 7/24
 Still nothing!!!
Are there anyone who is mining with Verium Vault?
Is it worth it to mine with Verium vault?
 Hashrate is: 626.45
network hashrate is: 19169.3

 Thanks

It`s been one month and still nothing....
i give 2 weeks more and thats it...
I think this is not about luck!!!

I'd really recommend joining a pool like https://vrm.mining-pool.ovh/index.php with your hashrate. Difficulty has been rising high recently. Pretty soon they're adding an in-wallet P2Pool so you can get incremental payments right out of the wallet, releasing Q1 2018.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but anyway... Decided to give mining a shot, so downloaded a Verium Vault program. However, it needs literally forever to fully synchronize with the network. Sitting at 86.1% for the entire day now, with 18-20 connections. Is there anything I can do to speed things up?

File > Reload Blockchain will get you the latest bootstrap which is update every 15mins

It should never take more then 5-10mins to sync for both VeriCoin and Verium

Can't really make it work. But it's moving forward... slowly. Sitting at 96.1% right now.

2nd question of the day is if there are any thread limitations? The program runs on a (different) 48 thread server with 32GB RAM, but for some reason it's not utilizing the full potential of the setup. Currently it's at 27% only, which is not that impressive.

What's your memory usage look like? I've got a feeling 32GB of RAM for 48 threads may not suffice. Verium is extremely memory hungry which is what makes it so ASIC resistant. I've got 6 threads running and I'm using roughly 5GB of RAM.

Just checked. Sitting at 7 GB, with 20+GB free RAM available.

You might be better off asking the mining channel in the Vericoin slack. There's a few big time VRM miners around them parts. http://slack.vericoin.info

Re: Mining VeriCoin with Macbook Pro?

Whats up everyone, noob here. I've recently been researching these alt coins and came across VeriCoin and Verium. It seems pretty straightforward to "mine" VeriCoin. Download the VeriCoin-Qt software, and start staking/mining. But my question is; is it possible/safe to mine VeriCoin through the app with a 2014 Macbook pro 1TB memory? Will it even work/will it damage computer in anyway? Sorry if sounding silly, but whats a forum without noobs like me, am i right?

Staking with VeriCoin on a Macbook Pro would be fine. I would be a little nervous to mine Verium though, Macbooks get pretty hot as is and if the heat sink is clogged (dust & hair) you can damage the CPU in the long run. If the Macbook stays cool with good ventilation you'll probably be fine.

Thank you for the information. Now, my question is. Once I open and start staking, it says "Waiting for network connection" .... "0 connections". I have very high speed internet connect to my computer, so I am not sure why it is saying this? Is there anything I can do for it to connect and start staking (Waited for an hour and still says waiting for network connection).

File -> Reload Blockchain -> Check the box to download the vericoin.conf file. That should resolve that!

So, making a hole in firewall for port 36988 (and forwarding it) did the trick, however as the program does not advertise that this is necessary and average user may not be tech-savyy enough to use netstat and figure out by itself ... then I see it as a quite an ugly flaw of the wallet.

Or, if they are behind NAT over they which has no control (ie. they can't set up any port forwarding) ... then they might be out of luck even if they know exactly what is the problem.

Most other coins can work quite well without the port forwarding (I can't remember of having to forward ports for any of the other coins actually ...), so this is what might be unexpected even to more advanced users.

That's interesting, I've never had to open any ports on any wallet I've ever used. Is your network double NAT'ed? Behind two firewall/routers by chance? One other thing you can verify is that you have the most update .conf file which has the most updated nodes. You can find that here: http://resources.vericoin.info/category/technical-support-files/

Hello!

I cannot compile vericoind-1.7 and veriumd-1.1 with USE_AVX=1 USE_AVX2=1. The following errors are printed when linking:

Code:
obj/scrypt.o: In function `scrypt_N_1_1_256_multi(void*, uint256, int*, unsigned char*)':
scrypt.cpp:(.text+0xc76): undefined reference to `sha256_transform_8way'
scrypt.cpp:(.text+0xc96): undefined reference to `sha256_init_8way'
scrypt.cpp:(.text+0xcf8): undefined reference to `sha256_transform_8way'
scrypt.cpp:(.text+0xd04): undefined reference to `sha256_init_8way'
...

Does anyone know what the problem?

I may not know for sure, but I think Verium is mined using the SSE instruction set, not AVX/2. I would just compile with default options, should take care of the issue assuming there aren't any package dependency issues.

Hi,

My Verium wallet syncs as i always has. But i downloaded vericoin wallet now and i got error when it tried to download conf etc from your website.

Got 0 connections so cant sync the whole chain manually either.
Could you share a .conf file (official)? Thank you Smiley

I uptedated the Vericoin wallet to 1.7 but still "Waiting for a new network connection"

Did you solve this problem? How?

thanks

Go to the "File" menu, click on "Reload Blockchain". Select the checkbox next to "Install new vericoin.conf file?" then click Next (or Download if you haven't bootstrapped yet, this will speed up sync time). After it's done restart the wallet, then you should get connections.

Tell me when will the coin appear on the exchange? And on which one, I would like to know the approximate price of this token.

VRM and VRC are on many different exchanges. The most popular one's are Bittrex (VRM & VRC), and Poloniex (only VRC). You can find others in the separate VRM & VRC threads.

Hi

i did remove stacking option and let it run all night but this morning still nothing

very strange here....

Turning off staking does not immediately free up coins, that will just prevent future coins from being staked (until you turn it back on). The coins in question will free up after the new interest received has 510 confirmations. You can check in the history how many confirms the new interest has, once it hits 510, your coins will be freed up once again.

Good lord, chill TF out people, you ain't gonna get rich mining Verium within 24 hours, especially when no-one can mine in this case. These are some of the best devs out there, they've explained the issue, and have a fix coming. Go grab some coffee, go outside and get some sun, think about your lives for a day or two while the fix is being released. It's not the end of the world. Don't demand anything when you have no place to demand anything. The blockchain will be back up and running normally soon. Breathe.

P.S. There will ALWAYS be bugs, not matter how much testing is done, don't blame the devs for this. You sound like assholes.

Hey guys,

looking into problem.  The blockchain froze so we are on pause till we resolve the issue, it looks like someone submitted a block with a future timestamp and that threw the difficulty calculation off.  I'm looking deeper into the problem, but likely we will need to release an updated wallet that handles this problem specifically before we get going again.  Thanks for your patience while we work this out.

Thanks for the update! Good luck squashing the bug.

Before we go after let them explain. Maybe they have a reason for their statement.

Eh... trollish account name, trollish registered date, unfounded statement (until there's a reply explaining the opinion) that looks pretty trollish. The world can be harsh, because of this it has taught me that if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, well, it's probably a duck.

Troll aside, not sure what can be said to back up that statement with a pioneer coin that has one of the most stable dev teams out there. I mean... this thread is 866 pages long. I'd say it has more of a future than 90%+ of all the other coins out there especially with its already proven development history, not to mention many exciting additions to come! But alas, 'tis just my humble opinion.

I didn't quite get/understand Verium at first, but the more I'm reading about it, the more I'm liking it! Seems like a great way to bridge the crypto/commodity gap. Is there a whitepaper already released for it? VRC holder since mining/release, glad I HODL'ed all this time!
