Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tank Davis
by

Why is Jake Paul so popular? Why does he want to fight Tank Davis? Does he really find that fair? Tanks Davis is 1,66 m and Jake Paul is 1,85 m. It's almost 20 cm difference. It's really huge and unfair. This is similar to Conor McGregor (1,73 cm) fighting to Alex Pereira (1,93 cm) or Jon Jones (1,93 cm). Who finds this fight fair? It's a shame. I don't understand why people are interested in seeing Jake Paul's bullshit fight. Okay, his fight against Tommy Fury was interesting but fighting against 60 years old man and 20 cm shorter man isn't really a proud thing to do, nor interesting.

Jake Paul is a joke to the boxing world but he doesn't mind that as long as he earns massive amount of money doing it. This exhibition fight will benefit both of them as Tank Davis will earn more than he used to do when fighting regular boxing fights and he doesn't need to train hard, all he got to do is present and that's it, money in the table for him.

Yup they need a big man who can help laput and Sangalang inside, even how good their guards without a big man inside it still a disadvantage for them, let see if how they'll use their cards now with coach LA, SMC or Boss Al may give him competitive squad, in terms of bringing Yap back that's still far from reality as things relied or depends on how the SMC management will act on this matter, though I really like to see him back but again the answer depends on how Boss AL will recommend him and back him to the management.

I saw a picture of Greg Slaughter with coach Tim Cone in my facebook account. Though slow, i think Greg has the size to guard Junemar 1vs1 with no need to double. Greg has been guarding Junemar since college days so i think it would be a good idea if Magnolia would acquire the services of Slaughter.

Is it not possible to just keep him with the team on a small salary? I think he can still give moral support because of his experience, and he’d also be happy retiring with the team. We know that Raffy is already old, so seeing him play even at his age would be a good statement. it shows that if players take care of their health, they can still compete even when they’re older.

If James Laput is not on the roster, Magnolia might still consider keeping him on a veteran minimum deal, similar to how NLEX held on to Asi Taulava until he turned 50, haha. Between Laput and Raffy, Laput has the edge,  he’s younger, more mobile, and has the stamina to keep up with someone like Fajardo on both ends of the court.

One thing I’m really hoping for is that Magnolia brings back James Yap, even just for a farewell run. He was instrumental in their Grand Slam campaign, and it would be fitting to retire his jersey with the team he helped make history. Politics aside, James Yap deserves his moment in the PBA spotlight.

Re: What are your thoughts on cockfighting?

A lot of places here in our country have events called "Sabong," or cockfighting. This type of gambling is common in the provinces, as many gamblers don't have other forms
of entertainment besides cockfighting.

Some wealthy people here even breed fighting cocks. They raise them and feed them expensive feeds to prepare them for a fight when they're older.
What they do is sell the fighting rooster for a high price.

Cockfighting is quite common in our country, in fact, some even consider it the national sport after basketball. While there are concerns about animal welfare surrounding the practice, many breeders find it thrilling, especially when the roosters they've raised end up winning matches. There are also breeders who focus solely on raising birds for commercial purposes. They rarely participate in the fights themselves but instead sell their roosters as part of their business.

Re: Is gambling inspiring people to work harder?
by

on 26/08/2025, 02:14:57 UTC
It's not good to work extra hours to manage money for gambling, but if it was for supporting the family or managing finances, then it would definitely be good. Is it any kind of income to earn money by working extra hard and then gamble with that money and then lose money after betting? There may be other ways to have fun, but it is not something that has to be done with money earned after a lot of hard work. If he had worked hard, of course he would have saved his hard-earned money, but instead of doing that, taking a gamble is an uncertain and unguaranteed possibility that is not worth supporting under any circumstances.

It’s simple, if the money we’ve earned through hard work isn’t something we can afford to lose, then we shouldn’t be gambling with it. For those of us with regular day jobs, finding extra cash to gamble can be tough, especially when side hustles aren’t easy to come by in our area. A smarter approach might be to set aside a small, fixed percentage of our monthly income specifically for gambling, so it doesn’t interfere with our essential expenses.

In my opinion, cockfights are really incredibly cruel to animals and are a disgusting spectacle. But the most important thing is that they corrupt human morality. After all, it is legalized murder and mutilation, even if we are talking only about roosters. You know, I read about millionaires who amused themselves by organizing fights of homeless people. We can also remember the ancient risky organizers of gladiator fights. There, gladiators fought criminals, wild animals. In addition, the organizers pitted many wild animals against each other, trying to create bloody scenes that would tickle the nerves of spectators. Fortunately, we do not see gladiator fights now, since moral progress does exist. I hope that cockfights will also become a thing of the past someday.

I understand your point since you're not used to watching this kind of activity. But for us who are already accustomed to this kind of gambling, we no longer see the cruelty toward the animals. It's probably similar to the cruelty experienced by elephants in circuses, since performing there isn't really their will either.

@bisdak40 @Boafeng. Do you these boxers' names?

I'm only familiar with Canelo and Crawford from the list above—hehe. Who knows, maybe one day one of these undercard fighters will rise through the ranks, become a champion, and make a name for themselves. For now, they're still grinding their way toward stardom

Who won the deal?

MAGNOLIA made the biggest move so far in the PBA offseason,
acquiring the signing rights of Javi Gomez de Liano from Terrafirma in exchange for Jerrick Ahanmisi and the Hotshots' second-round pick in the coming draft.

Gomez de Liano, 27, is coming off a stint with the Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters in the Korea Basketball League,
although his PBA rights belonged to Terrafirma which acquired him in a trade with Barangay Ginebra in 2022.

The 6-foot-3 forward now brings fresh blood and size to a Magnolia team that parted ways with veteran big man Raffi Reavis aside from losing new recruit Will Navarro,
who signed with Busan KCC Egis in the Korean league.

Good to know that Magnolia is making some moves to strengthen their roster.

Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tank Davis
by

on 22/08/2025, 00:57:05 UTC
That is major news. Jake Paul facing Gervonta Tank Davis in Atlanta is going to draw a lot of attention. Even though it’s an exhibition, it’s a fascinating matchup since Jake last match. Tank brings incredible speed and power, while Jake has the size and reach advantage. The weight class issue could definitely be why it’s not a professional bout, but regardless, this is going to be a must-watch event. I believe this will have some betting on PolyMarket later on. Id do hope this time no more subtle Act like what was the last game has been with Tyson.

This fight is clearly a money grab for both Jake Paul and Gervonta "Tank" Davis. For Jake, it's a much smarter matchup than going up against someone like Anthony Joshua, he’d stand no chance against a heavyweight of that caliber. Tank Davis, on the other hand, is significantly smaller than Jake, and while there's a real risk of him getting knocked out if Jake lands clean, we all know how savvy Tank is when it comes to avoiding danger in the ring.

That's how it works many years back, but since these two giant companies managed to bought those old rivals franchise they are now dominating the league, if that can be done maybe it was been process but the influence and power of both MVP and SMC already dominating, we've seen that when there are franchise who shows interest to enter the league they'll make sure that it won't happened without their authorization, not verbally but behind the acquisition, they've got the voices to echo before PBA commissioners will take their actions.

I remember that during Phoenix’s first attempt to enter the PBA, they were blocked by SMC by renaming the San Miguel Beermen to Petron. That just shows how selfish this company is, so it’s no surprise that they really want to dominate the PBA as if it’s their own league.

Speaking of teams, I read a social media post by Snow Badua saying that someone is reportedly interested in buying the NorthPort franchise. Hopefully, this pushes through, and I also hope that the buyer is a wealthy team that can compete with the SMC and MVP teams.

Sure, Tenorio hasn’t proven anything yet since this is his first stint as a head coach in the PBA, but I’m hopeful we’ll see some positive changes.
I really don’t want the team being stuck with the “intro boys” label.

With Magnolia’s current roster, I don’t see them making it to the finals, unless they bring in a high-caliber import to shake things up. I used to admire the Hotshots, especially because of Ian Sangalang. He held his own impressively against Junemar Fajardo, which made him stand out. But lately, his performance has been slipping, and I’m not sure what’s causing the decline.

Yeah, Tenorio will definitely be put to the test this time as he steps into the drawing board. And by the way, LA isn’t the only rookie head coach making his debut when Season 50 tips off, Coach Willy Wilson of the Phoenix Fuel Masters will also be entering the spotlight for the first time.

Re: Deposit threshold can minimize gambling addiction from poor sector?!

Do you believe that the Deposit threshold can minimize gambling addiction in the poor sector?!

I believe this move by our government could significantly reduce gambling activity, though it won’t eliminate it entirely. USD 175 is a substantial amount here, and not everyone can afford to spend that kind of money just to enjoy casino games. That’s why I was surprised they didn’t go through with implementing that fee. Instead, they chose to unlink casino platforms from e-wallets—a decision I personally think isn’t very effective.

By the way, anyone here knows when the PBA will finally resume?

Now that FIBA Asia is done, players can chill for a bit, but honestly I’m itching to see the PBA back in action so I can start betting again. From what I checked online, the season might start around October 5, 2025… but I’m not 100% sure if that date’s accurate. If it is, man that’s still a long wait.

No PBA, no NBA… looks like we’re in for some boring weeks ahead.

Season has finally ended with SMB vs  TNT finals, we will start the SEASON 50 of the PBA, this will be a big opening event as we celebrate the 50years of Philippine basketball Association.
The season will begin on October 5, 2025 until 2026. 1 Season - 3 Conference.

What can we expect from the PBA season 50?

I’m not expecting much from this historic PBA Season 50, especially with Will Navarro and Jamie Malonzo out of the picture. Kevin Quiambao won’t be entering the draft either, since he’s now playing in the KBL. So any talk of a major shake-up in the league isn’t really in my vocabulary, except maybe watching how the new imports stack up against JB and RHJ. That’s the only real intrigue left for me.

What do you think about this move by the government? Will it significantly reduce gambling addiction, or will it only make the problem worse?

I’ve read the news and even watched the Senate inquiry on this issue. In my view, the restrictions may help reduce the number of people falling into gambling addiction, simply because it’s no longer as convenient as it once was. However, I hope the government realizes that this is only a short-term fix and not a comprehensive solution to the deeper problem of gambling addiction in our country. Hardcore gamblers will always find a way, many may turn to illegal betting sites just to satisfy their urge. In that scenario, the government loses twice: not only does it fail to curb addiction, but it also misses out on potential tax revenue from these underground platforms.

In fact, it's a multi-billion peso industry, and if it were to be shut down, many ordinary citizens would be affected.
Why is this so? How will they be affected? Are they beneficiaries of this multi-billion peso industry or are they the ones that the industry is feeding off-of?

Thousands of people earn their livelihood as breeders, and numerous breeding farms across the country employ handlers and gaffers to support the operations. In a cockpit arena, gambling accounts for only about 30% of the activity—the rest revolves around commerce and community. It’s difficult to grasp the full picture unless you visit an arena yourself, but that’s the reality on the ground. These venues employ a range of staff, including referees, who are also considered formal employees."

I remember when COVID hit and cockfighting was temporarily stopped, those people mentioned above really struggled to adjust and find other means of livelihood because they had grown so accustomed to it.

What are your thoughts on cockfighting?

Cockfighting is extremely popular in my country, the Philippines. In fact, it's a multi-billion peso industry, and if it were to be shut down, many ordinary citizens would be affected. It's said that cockfighting existed even before the Spanish conquest, which is why I believe it's deeply embedded in our culture and tradition, making it difficult to simply put an end to it.

Although many people say that cockfighting is cruel to animals, setting that issue aside and focusing on the event itself, I find it incredibly thrilling. The matches can be highly addictive—especially if you have a genuine passion for these birds.

Your thoughts?

Sorry for the off-topic but i just can't hold back my excitement seeing the highlights of the this year's FIBA Asia Cup finals between the Boomers and the Dragons. Who would have thought that this will be a close game as almost all of the opponents of the Boomers where blown away by an average of 20 points. Yes, the Australia won their 3rd consecutive Asia Cup title but not without a scare from the gutsy Chinese team.

Who here placed a bet on China? I didn’t get to place a bet because it was Sunday and I was busy with other things.
