Re: Ledger Nano s scam
by

Just read about someone that was scammed for 35k from a ledger Nano s bought from eBay. The ledger had already been set up and the seller made a legit looking scratch card with the 24 recovery phrase on it, subsequently logged in and stole his funds.

I bought myn on Amazon, I am right in assuming that the 24 word phrase can only be viewed once. When I set myn up I was given the words in order which I have stored in a safe place. Myn can be compromised can it as i was given the word combination on set up?

Every electronic device could be flashed and compromised. My guess is that exactly this happened here. Somebody flashes the Ledger with corrupted seed.

Nobody should ever buy any wallet from other place than original producers.

That isn’t what happened, the ledger was already set up and the seller made up a scratch card containing the 24 word phrase.

If the ledger is tampered with it won’t work as there is a test every time it connects, the hacker would need to know the privacy key

Can anyone put my mind at rest here? I set it up as a new device and was given the 24 words on the ledger itself. Does this mean I am safe?

Myn was Amazon and I set it up as a new device, made my own pin and was given my 20 words which are safe.

Should be fine?

BCT fork BTCP and ZCL

I’ve had a look on Bitcoin Private site and can’t get an answer here. My BTC is on my Nano s but my ZCL is on Bittrex. To get BTCP should I keep ZCL on the exchange or move to my Nano?

Any ideas?

I'm never using this site again. I only used it as I was having issues with my Blockchain app. I may have missed my opportunity for a good buy because of this.

Expensive and slow, never again.

Re: Selling BTC to add to XRP
by

Why do you think that it is a good time to buy now?
Based on the history, seems like the price of ripple has been signifincely increased at the last few days, it has been going up even against the bitcoin(and bitcoin went up against fiat by itself).

If the only reason you are interested in buying XRP now is because it recently went up, then you shouldn't do that.
You should be checking if there are any news about the coin the support it's uptrend.

I’m very new to this, under 3 months new infant,  but XRP was the one that cought my eye from the get go. I love this movement,  people controlling their own money and it is the start of the end for the banks in my opinion, however I don’t see them going anywhere soon, hence why I see real potential in this coin. It can cut down 3-5 day expensive transactions to cheap 4 second transactions. If it does what they say it can, and it looks like it can, then it’s a no brainier, it has potential to be the global standard means of payment.

Ok, I’ve just convinced myself writing that paragraph, I may be wrong and come back here in the future and say I was wrong. This game is all a gamble, some you win n some ya lose. See what happens.

I’m just not sure what BTC is anymore, but I know it’s probably still a great investment and will continue to be. It could reach crazy prices, I have some BTC and I’m happy with that. However, with ripple it has a real world use, it’s solid tech and has potential going into stupid numbers. It’s lightning fast and cheap, it solves a lot of problems in the works, if Ripples XRP is used for even 5% of daily transactions then you’re talking Mars not Moon

I already have a lot of XRP bought at 0.20s and 0.40s. I think it could become a standard means of global cross border transactions. 50billion coins locked up now and If it can capture a decent  % of the global transactions then there’s no limit.

Selling BTC to add to XRP

Madness or not?

When I got into this I said I would not trade, just invest with money I’ve earned and hold through what I think will be an incredible 2018. But I’m now thinking of selling ETH/BTC or LTC to get more XRP. With it breaking the $1 I don’t think it’ll drop below 0.80 now and think the coin has real potential.

Stick to my plan or do 1 trade before Ripple runs away 🤷‍♂️

Re: MyEtherWallet question

Hope this is the right section, I already posted this question but I think it’s been deleted from altcoins section.

I set up a wallet on my ether wallet and then did it again, I can use the one that opens when I connect my ledger no problem but I’m worried the password and key I have written down may be for the first one?

I don’t want to xfer my funds till I know I have the right key and password for obvious reasons.

How can I check? Or do I create new wallet and keep password and key, but if I do that how do I know I’m accessing the most recent one created and not one of the older ones.

Sorry if I sound daft, I don’t really know how this site works 😂

You can identify whether you are opening up the wallet you had previously created or one that you created recently by noticing your ether address.
Each wallet should have different ethereum address for receiving coins. Just open all of your wallets one by one and note down ether address for remembrance. Once you find out your primary wallet, save its backup and forget others so that you will not get confused in future

Thanks for the reply mate. How can I open both wallets? When I connect to ledger on myether wallet I get a pop up with 5 or 6 ether addresses. One shows my ether coins from the ones I put in my ledger via the chrome app. The others I don’t know what they are.

If I create a new wallet will it be added to that list? Then I just put my tokens to that address and il have the password and key for tha address and ignore the rest?

I probably sound daft I just down understand how this site works. Thanks again

I don’t need to enter anything to unlock the wallet, I just plug in the Nano s and enter my pin and I’m in. Because I set up 2 “new wallets” I don’t know which one I’m logging into. I’ve searched the internet and I can’t see this problem anywhere, someone must have made 2?

Either that or it’s not an issue and I’m 100% logging into the 2nd one. I want to set up a new wallet, save key and password, but how do I know it’ll be that one I log into?

This is probably a stupid question but I don’t want to send funds till I know and I’m not comfortable with my tokens being on an exchange.

Any ideas anyone?

I’m now at BTC 27.32% ETH 17.34% OMG 6.21% XRP 36.4% and I’ve added LTC @ 12.1%

I’ve bought more of all my coins and have done well last week or so especially LTC and XRP  yesterday. I haven’t sold any as I want to keep all at least till 2019. I’ll be adding to this weekly and looking at other coins to diversify a bit.

Question is I’m thinking of using some of my profits in one of my coins to buy more XRP. Not Omise though ya! ETH, LTC or BTC. Any thoughts?

Alright guys.

I’m having issues with MyEtherWallet. Well not issues, it’s all working fine but I’m a bit concerned I have the wrong Keys/Password.

I set up two new wallets on the same MacBook as I didn’t think the first one worked. I only have 1 set of passwords and key. How can I test my password and key to make sure it’s for the wallet I log into when I connect my ledger. I only have a fraction of my OMG in the wallet and want to make sure I have all the correct pieces in place before I send the rest from the exchange.

So basically I can access my wallet fine. I have a privacy key a password and I want to double check I can access this wallet using these. Any help?

Sorry if this is the wrong section, I had a look but couldn’t see anything specific👍🏻

wow, thanks for all the replies! I went to bed for a few hours after a long nightshift there and didn't expect to wake up to that. Ill look into the coin recommendations Wink Also i had to do a few quick googles, ICO's, HODL etc ha

Like i said i'm not interested in trading atm as i see it as a little daunting and i have zero understanding of this or any market, though it has always interested me. The only reason i am he is because of a few random people i follow on twitter, and i am a newbie as much as i say i am to the guy that said otherwise  Grin. 45 min drive to work daily gives me 90 mins daily of youtube vids or podcasts to listen to and some reading so I built up a very basic understanding quickly.
Some of the % returns I've seen is crazy and see this as a potential place to make life changing money if you get it right/lucky, but what i have invested (2-2.5k usd maybe) could disappear and i'm ok with that. I'm in this for the long haul and will hodl till the time is right.

Quick question, i looked on reddit and hit a link that someone later said was a phishing link and im a bit paranoid now...my ledger nano is arriving monday and ill be safe then, but would i be at risk now? I have blockchain app on my phone where my BTC and ETH are and Bitsmap for XRP. Anytime i enter passwords etc is on my PC and i dont save any passwords or recovery words...all on paper?
