...in any case my phone pings me with every response due to it hitting an email account associated with this forum login. I should really find away to turn that off it's wayy too invasive now.

The solution is to filter your email Smiley

Gents, please do keep the quoting to a minimum. Limit yourselves to one quote per post, for everybody's sake.

Good work thus far, bitcoinorama

OTHER ATTENDEES:

Please feel free to chime in, more voices are needed in the choir!

I've been quiet thus far because the accounts that are given by Bitcoinorama (aswell as keyzersoze, who also attended) are accurate. Bitcoinorama was very thorough with his questions and has been very thorough with the report of said questions.

For me nothing changed with the Monday open day!

Most of the people who visited open-day weren't tech savy or have any experience with ASIC/FPGA so you can't really blame them. I'm just glad they even posted information/photos here. I'm pretty sure the reason they went was because mostly they just wanted to confirm for themselves if the company behind them were legit/real or not.

If I had gone, you would've seen live updates, videos, heaps of photos of everyone/all the parts/demos etc. I would've asked the hard questions.

But I'm from Australia. Sweden is a long way away.

Hehe want to be skype'd in? I'm sure that could be arranged Smiley

Not kidding but maybe i missunderstood, this was only to symbolize the sizes and they just grabed the closest thing around so there are multiple instances for error so keep that in mind but the cooler will be massive.

I myself have no hardware ASIC experience so my understanding of this is strictly limited.

@Bitcoinorama/KS: could you please be so kind and stop flooding this threat with this useless shit? you should continue on other communication channel, but please don't bother us with this here.

It would be good if the quoting was cut down a bit. My scroll-finger is starting to complain Smiley

Thanks 600Watt for adding info =)

I have some pics of the aircooling the showed us to get an idea of how big the coolers will be. As i understood it this is NOT the actual cooler just that it will be in this kinda size.
Also the started to talk about the actual size of the ASIC itself and it's quite large also the showed a board to symbolize the actual sice of their ASIC, commenting that this is the reason why the cooling is quite massive.
So the board laying on the side of the cooling unit is somewhat the size of the asic. I reserve myself that i might have misunderstood this part. It was just mentioned in relaxed conversation afterwards.

EDIT: Pic are onroute lol had a snag just a few minutes more
So here are the pics

The ruler is in METRIC centimeters (cm)

FWIW they said they aren't taking a salary right now and somewhere someone said they can't take profits until they deliver in some Swedish law..

I guess that is kinda hurt money type stuff

Of course there's no way to prove it, but selling a few queue positions, of which KnC was more than happy to facilitate, would hurt them not as much.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/15js8JsyHAiGoq_ELzx0hxG4xdA9ePJrhrc8y2bbWbRc/edit?pli=1

Question 26: They were asked about a pool and had to have it explained.

Also, where is Q. 27?

Sam claimed that he and Andreas have been mining, assumed as a team, prior to starting KnC. Was it solo mining or on a pool? And if pool, which one?

It had been asked and answered, they asked the group if we agreed which we did with no protests.

...  Anyone have any idea who the chip provider is for kNC?

I gather they do the chips themselves

No, it is either TSMC or Global foundries. They are the two companies who have the capability to do this. KNCminer did not want to specify which one of those two that they are using for commercial reasons.

Hi folks,
Sorry for the wait but the meeting was around 2 hours and it takes a shitload of  time to process all questions and make it fairly clear what was said.

Hopefully this will answer some of your questions and help you form a better perception on whether KNCminer is the real deal or not, ie if they can do this.

Since I don't wish to bombard the forum with a crazy amount of text I've put it in a GDoc. Let me know if there are any issues.

I noticed that on their linux machine, they even had a seperate console utility to monitor the status of all the FPGAs (temp, current, power usage etc), this means that they have a whole suite of FPGA related design platform, and they just fit bitcoin's hashing function into that platform

And they said they are not going to have an ASIC prototype, just replace the FPGA with standard cell ASIC and direct go for mass production. I think this is risky, without a prototype, how can they sure all the heat and power usage fall in a reasonable level? Unless they have done this many times before, they might encounter what BFL experienced last year

Why u dont ask them?

as i understood it they are experienced with heating/cooling problems and approaching it with being flexible in both the number of chips used per device and extend of load on each chip in an overall modular setup.

Also remember it's meant to have liquid-cooled ASICs...

They will be air cooled. I'll evolve this later on.

Hi folks,
I feel that the community is waiting to hear back from the Open day event. Me and my associate attended. We put forward most if not all the questions that I have received (quite a few). It will take me some time to write all the answers down, hopefully I'll be done by tomorrow afternoon.

It has been said already by others who attended in this thread, but I'll reiterate what they stated. This endeavor seems legit. For the moment that is all I'll say. Answers to the questions will be posted as well as a few pictures soon(hopefully tomorrow afternoon).

If you are still needing help with this - you need to untick 'CPU infinity' within GuiMiner, the program will then use your GPU for mining, and your hashrates should improve.

Thanks, I gave up on this and switched to CGminer. but I appreciate the reply! Hopefully someone with similar issues will find help from it Smiley

RT seems to offer some decent coverage, BBC kindly offers a picture and a couple of paragraphs;

http://rt.com/news/sweden-riots-multiculturalism-not-working-598/

Haven't a clue how/if that affects them. It's a shame to see tbh as the last time I was in Sweden it was the archetype of a tolerant society. Still the media will portray an agenda they want to create...perhaps a local can divulge more?

In short, this is about social inequality and not about multiculturalism. More relevant though is that this should not (95% certainty, my opinion) in any way affect KNC.

    Update#2
I will bring a powermeter with me, just in case. Good idea with the audio recording. Here in Sweden you don't need to ask for permission as long as you partake in the conversation but it is polite to ask.

Photos/Videos (I'll try to include objects for distance-reference)
    * Mars unit hashing
    * Mars without a cover/case …shots of the internals if possible
    * Hashing results in the software client
    * The power supply attached
    * A meter read of the power draw at the outlet – hopefully they’ll provide a monitor, or do you have one you could bring?

    Questions
    1) Is this demo unit built on the final design revision that we’ll see used at the time of full-scale production?
    2) When will Mars begin production, if it hasn’t already?
    3) Has any development work yet begun on the ASIC modules?
    4) (If you’re not able to get a wattage reading from a meter)What is the power consumption on the Mars device?
    5) What is the projected power consumption of the Saturn/Jupiter?
    6) Do you plan on discontinuing the Mars BTC miners by a certain date or a quantity sold? (See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=170332.msg2200152#msg2200152)
    7) With this modular design, how will the ASIC units be interfaced with each other, considering that additional devices may be added at a later time?
8 ) Will these connected ASIC devices use a single shared network connection? What about the power?
    9) Why only 50.000SEK in capital? (about 5500 EUR, not even funny considering there are so many founders. no penalty for failure, so not much of an incentive for success either)
    Quote
#9 I also saw in the thread that people think my business with Andreas has a value of 5000EUR. That is the price it costs to register an AB(limited company)

But we do need clarification on when funds are required from us and whether delivery is guaranteed inside of designated buyer complaint periods given by the chosen payment methods, I.e. assurance that payment is made no earlier than 45 days before product is.
    10) Who pays for this really, how?
    11) Debt incurred? how much, how long?
    12) Why no ORSoC ppl on the board or directors? (not even deputy directors, only K/C wives or family?) (See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=170332.msg2200152#msg2200152)
    13) Is there an employee payroll or just founders?
    14) Why start K&C AB as a consulting/hosting firm with the ORSoC ppl aboard?
    15) K&C AB focus on miners or hosting/consulting?
    16) Where is the real office? K's house, C's house, K & C AB office, another one??
    17) What about security (data/facilities)? (why self host? no datacenters?) Disaster recovery plans? [careful, no specifics]
18)What about patents? Potential lawsuits? (are they insured against this?)
19)Are the founders insured? Does the insurance money cover losses/refunds? Is the company the beneficiary or not?
20)Expecting more sale outside of Sweden than in, can they finance the VAT in-between tax return periods? (See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=170332.msg2200152#msg2200152)
    21) Project % completion?
    22) How much of the production will be financed by preorders? (possible corollary: why not more seed capital?)
    23) Obviously with the Swedes' worshiping the semi-permanent sunlight they get for the summer months causing an acknowledged lackluster in productivity (according to JJ), will this in anyway affect the design and manufacture of their Saturn and Jupiter miners? And, what realistically, are the chances of having those devices delivered in September?
    24) How can you be confident this will happen when both BFL and apparently Avalon have had issues delaying their production beyond reasonable expectations?
    25) Most important can they meet the September 2013 dateline. When is the 350gh/s Asic prototype Miner going to be out? July 2013??
    26) Will KNCMiner support P2Pool mining?
    27) Given the five way partnership with three from OrSoc and with their experience of FPGAs and ASICs in the past, how will they achieve their technical goals and how long will it take?
    28) Are there any potential third party hiccups that are likely to delay anything?
    29) What projects of similar kind have they completed before?

    Other
    1) Where are you? Office / Workroom / Lab …?[/li][/list]
    2) What else is around? Desks (with phones? ..how many?) / Workstations / Machinery …?
    3) Who, specifically, is in attendance at this meeting? Do you see other people around as well?
    4) How much noise does the Mars device produce? ..perhaps think of something comparative
    5) Do you feel much heat radiation from the Mars unit?

I haven't gotten any new info regarding the open house yet. No reply from Sam and nothing from KNCminer in the thread.

Someone wrote that is was tomorrow in this thread?! I'd like to get a confirmation regarding that.
