Most of the points for this season are earned through spot holding and trading activities. The exact formula for the point system isn't public and varies each week, but I've found that buying and holding $PURR — a memecoin launched by the devs — has been a decent strategy. Personally, I’ve been consistently earning around 100-200 points each week by holding ~100k of $PURR.

Keep in mind, though, there are only two weeks left in this points season, so if you're just starting now, you might not accumulate a substantial number of points. However, it's still worth checking out Hyperliquid. It's currently the leading perpetual DEX, surpassing older competitors like DYDX and Jupiter.

I've heard a lot about Monad, but I haven't been following it closely. How to get involved? Is there a testnet available, or running a validator node?

While I do see Solana's potential, it's still quite a distance from Ethereum's level. If we look at the TVL, Ethereum currently has about 8x more than Solana. The same kind of disparity exists between Kamino and AAVE. Solana needs to attract significantly more volume and users, especially institutional investors and whales, to close that gap.

As for the recent Ethereum ETF inflows, it actually suggest a broader challenge for all altcoins, including Solana. If Ethereum is struggling to attract interest, it's hard to see a future where a Solana ETF (if it ever exist) would fare much better. Right now, institutional interest seems to be focused primarily on Bitcoin.

Yeah one of the founder (Jeff) was a HFT trader at Hudson River Trading before starting his own crypto MM  firm. The fact that the Hyperliquid team is small (only about five people, IIRC) also might explain why they could fund themselves without relying on VC and outside funding.

I do both spot and futures on HL. I've been using HL for my futures trading over the past two months, and I also hold HL's spot coins to farm points and generally bet on HL's success. I think as more USDC flows into HL's spot market, it could drive up the overall market cap of these coins, potentially pushing their prices higher.

That said, it's still incredibly risky. There are a lot of uncertainties, like when the HL Token Generation Event will happen, whether there'll be a Season 3, and the possibility that the prices of these memecoins could tank after this points season ends in late September.

As a long-time Solana user, I don't think this will have much impact to SOL price. While it's a positive development for Solana's market presence, the fact that it's not a U.S. ETF limits its potential influence. The real test would be a US spot ETF approval, but even then, the effect might be muted. We've seen with the recent ETH ETF that the initial excitement may cause a short-term price spike, but once the hype settles, the price often reverts to following broader market trends. If you look at the ETH chart, you'll notice that the price is actually lower than it was before the ETF approval, despite the ETH spot ETF already trading.


For a coin as matured as Solana, it's challenging to create a single narrative that can significantly impact the price. I wouldn't be surprised if SOL price continues to mirror BTC & ETH trends rather than breaking out on its own like it did back in 2020-2021. On a more positive note, the recent shift in the Fed's outlook towards cutting rates could be beneficial for the broader crypto market. Lower rates typically lead to increased liquidity and risk appetite, which could provide some tailwinds for SOL (and crypto in general) in 24Q4 and 2025.

Apologies for shilling Hyperliquid again but there's an interesting opportunity here that I think more people should be aware of. Hyperliquid has a community-owned vault called Hyperliquidity Provider (HLP), designed to provide liquidity for their perpetual markets.

Key points:

• Current vault size: Over $257 million USDC
  
• Recent performance: 23% APR in the past month (previously exceeded 30% before a recent surge in deposits)
• Strategy: Unlike traditional AMM pools prone to impermanent loss, HLP employs a sophisticated market-making strategy developed by the Hyperliquid team
• Revenue streams: Profits from market-making, a share of Hyperliquid's trading fees, and acting as primary liquidators for perp markets
• The vault has consistently generated profits across various market conditions (see PnL chart below)

If you're looking to put some USDC to work, the Hyperliquid HLP vault might be worth investigating. As always, please do your own research and be aware of the usual risks associated with DeFi platforms.

How could they offer such high rates? (I'm too lazy to look it up myself) Unless it's just a promotional rate with capped amount, this sounds too high of a return for passive USDT staking.
