Just fyi, GAWMiner reached out to me earlier (11am EST) and I have sent all my pertinent information. His profile is:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=293462

From all the tests I have done, joining different pools (2 pools), using different PCs (3 of them), three USB cables, 3 flavors or miners (cpuminer, bfgminer, cgminer) I finally conclude that my Gridseed is having issues, and/or, I am doing something wrong with my configuration.

The main isse that I found is, my seed will work for a time (say a couple of hours, hashing happily) then suddenly, the accepted shares stops. Restarting and rebooting doesnt necessarily work, but the most common error is (using the 3 miners), that the seed will accept 3 shares and no more. I can leave it for hours, and it won't make a difference.

The good: GAW reached out
The bad: I don't have anything else that works so I can further test.

Hi pistachio, thanks for the reply. I see in your sig that your support gawminer, I actually got this from GAW just to test out before getting the bigger miners. But this experience is very frustrating very lately. I spent my time troubleshooting and babysitting this rather than running it. Comparing it to my ants, I spent less time, my ants are up and running in less than an hour with full hashing capability.

This is true. I do miss the simplicity of ants. I sold all of my ants to buy these Gridseed miners and they have been a constant headache. It looks like a TP-link 703N with the new lightningASIC firmware might solve your problems for $25-$35. I ordered one of these to see how it does compared to the stock LightningASIC controllers. I will post results later this week. This is the one I ordered, http://www.ebay.com/itm/221325209638?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649.

Thank you for the suggestions. For what it's worth, I have seen your reply about USB cable and have used 3 kinds which I know are working cables. I have spent the next 2 hours testing and I got the same results as before.

I do hope that GAWMiner did not send me a known-defective part to an unsuspecting newbie, and I just got an extremely bad luck. After waiting for 5-6 days for this to arrive, GAWMiner is quickly earning my anger. I have tried running these in stock (non overclocked, non modded) way, even lowering the frequency and the results are just abominable. My experience has been really bad so far. I know a lot others has been lucky, and I am in the minority (maybe even the only one). But still, I just wanna share this experience to all. My screenshots at the previous page remains the same and my BFG get stuck requesting for update. All this seed do is request update, get a few, then drops the hashing process onwards not picking up anymore.

I am throwing in the towel, and ditching GAWMiner. Maybe it is not their fault, but after trying out so many ways and means to make this work, considering it's just one piece, I am not getting any more from them unless they compensate me for this.

My original post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=482352.msg6077816#msg6077816

I have tried CPUminer, which works for a few minutes, after which, it won't accept shares. I left it running last night and checked it this morning. The graph at givemecoins.com which gives a minute/hour activity of the miner shows that I was accepting shares for 5min, and then it flat out bottom and never picks up anymore after the next 5Hrs.

The next 3hrs now after waking up, I have also tried using different USB2/3 ports, and have tried using my beefiest PC using cpuminer (I used my Core i5 laptop and Core i7 desktop) with similar results: 67Kh on BFGminer consistently, cgminer crash time and again (on all 3 PCs with Zadig WinUSB driver), have tried reassigning COM port and playing with baud rates. I am starting to think I got a lemon seed and this is very frustrating.

hi dishwara, I let CPUminer run for an hour, and while I'll get hashes within the restart, after the first few minutes, I get 0Kh showing on Web dashboard (not DOS console).

I also only get a bunch of screens (the screens after the first one). I left cpuminer running and it's still running as I type this, but webdashboard shows 0Kh.

And I can't use cgminer for reason I posted on long wall of text, with TL;DR as well. I will let CPUminer run for several hours, but I doubt it will change. All I get is dispatching new work statuses.

Then I have to reboot, and recheck my config:

minerdOC.exe --freq=800 --gc3355=\\.\COM5 --url=stratum+tcp://ltc.give-me-coins.com:3334 --userpass=weminedead.1:x

Have you verified that the Gridseed is still on COM5 after reboot? Unplug it, check Device Manager, re-plug it, check again which COM port appeared.

hi suchmoo, Yes I did. I remove USB, and reconnect it directly to PC and checked the COM port. I noticed that if I used the wrong COM port, that the software won't event start, i.e. the console will say that opening port failed. In my case, it opens, just that it will accept shares erratically.

Edited Post:
Well, this is totally bonkers :/

Now my web dashboard 0 Kh using cpuminer. When I first start CPUMiner, I get this:

Then I have to reboot, and recheck my config:

minerdOC.exe --freq=800 --gc3355=\\.\COM5 --url=stratum+tcp://ltc.give-me-coins.com:3334 --userpass=weminedead.1:x

And I got a bunch of status that seems to be not getting any shares at all:

Hi all,

TL;DR;
My Gridseed works erratically.
Works with GiveMeCoin always getting Accepted shares, but with low Hashrate (max of 70Kh) running for 8hrs
Works with WeMineLTC intermittently. sometimes my Gridseed Accept shares, but a lot of times, it's not doing anything
I have tried CGMiner as posted and to the letter (with Zadig) but crashes
I have tried MultiMiner, but it wont detect Gridseed

More Detailed Description of the Issue and Troubleshooting Done
I am having some problems with Gridseed 5. I got one for test drive and have created an account at WeMineLTC, and downloaded the wallet at the official site, and has fully synced. I've had my Gridseed for a day now. The GridSeed is directly connected to PC USB2 port (i.e. no hub)

At first, I followed this guide to try dual mining SHA and Scrypt:
http://cryptomining-blog.com/1711-updated-guide-on-how-to-mine-both-btc-and-ltc-on-gridseed-5-chip-gc3355-asic/

I can't even run CGMiner because it says I need to install a USB driver. Which I already did, using Zadig and double checking using Zadig "List Device" and also under Windows Device Manager. Mine is STMicroElectronicVirtualComPort(COM5). I made sure I took note of the COM port (COM5) and edited the batch file and made sure that COM5 is reflected. But everytime, CGMiner will crash and will not proceed. I have tried 3 versions of CGminer and downloaded the latest versions (as found on the first post). Note that I have tried CGMiner both at the native STMicro driver and Zadig WinUSB driver.

So I ditched the idea of dual mining and just focused on Scrypt mining.

So I used MultiMiner, but no dice. Even if MultiMiner can detect my AntMiner U2, it can not detect Gridseed (I have seen posts in Nwool's GitHub about how the gridseed works). Asking and posting at GitHub has no reply. And just like with CGMiner, I have tried MultiMiner both at the native STMicro driver and Zadig WinUSB driver. So...I ditched MultiMiner.

I went to BFGMiner 3.99 and lo and behold, it detected my Gridseed FINALLY, and it went to work. Since it's my first time using Scrypt (and a week in Mining BTC), with DOS-based utility, I struggled to understand some of the display. But eventually, after checking WeMineLTC dashboard and looking at my DOS status screen, it dawned on me that my Gridseed is NOT accepting any shares. Bfg will send request for work update on the server, but it just won't get anything. So I have to, again, use both Zadig WinUSB and going back to STMicro driver, but only the STMicro driver works. So I stick with STMicro.

I checked everything, from username to port to URL. Then for some reason, my Gridseed started to accept share, out of nowhere. I started getting KH on my dashboard. But, there will be a lot of time lapse where I won't get any share (I figure I'm just getting bad pool) but nope, I waited for 8hrs and my hashrate went down.

A few reboots, and a few reconnect later, I get random share acceptance so I decided to try joining GiveMeCoins.

Now this new pool (GiveMeCoins), I get regular accepted shares. I am ALMOST happy. I let it run for 8hrs, but I noticed something odd on my web dashboard and my BFGconsole dashboard. My Hashrate never goes beyond 70Kh. I'm supposed to get more than 100Kh, heck, almost 300Kh. With frequency set to 800 (I have seen others set it to 850 and higher), I was hoping to get higher. So I dabbled with it and noticed that Gs0a is being used while Gs0b-Gs0e are not (from the BFGconsole).

I am baffled by this. I can't really tell for sure if my unit is defective, or the pools I am joining are really bad. WeMine won't give me shares, while GiveMeCoins gives me shares but with such low KH.

Any help will be appreciated. I am at the end of my wits here.

System Specs:
Windows 7 32bit with all the latest service packs, no bangs, no whistles, plain old OS
No other software, no antivirus, no firewall except for Windows default firewall (no Essentials)
I have 2 AntMiner U2 connected to it, via USB Hub, working and hashing happly, using MultiMiner (CP uART driver)
I have 1GB RAM
Atom 2Ghz CPU
Gigabit Internet
45Mbps Comcast Internet (speedtest on mining rig shows close to it)
64GB SSD for storage/boot/applications
Gridseed directly connected to USB2 port of the PC

My BFG for WeMine is written as:
bfgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://power.wemineltc.com:3333 -u weminedead.1 -p x  -d gridseed -S gridseed:all --set-device gridseed:clock=800

I also tried other pools at WeMine
bfgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://usa4.wemineltc.com:3336 -u weminedead.1 -p x  -d gridseed -S gridseed:all --set-device gridseed:clock=800
bfgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://usa4.wemineltc.com:80 -u weminedead.1 -p x  -d gridseed -S gridseed:all --set-device gridseed:clock=800

As for GiveMeCoins
bfgminer.exe --scrypt -o  ltc.give-me-coins.com:3334 -u weminedead.1 -p x -d gridseed -S gridseed:all --set-device gridseed:clock=800

I also tried adding stratum
bfgminer.exe --scrypt -o  stratum+tcp://ltc.give-me-coins.com:3334 -u weminedead.1 -p x -d gridseed -S gridseed:all --set-device gridseed:clock=800

If you guys have any suggestion or seeing what I am probably missing, pls let me know. I haven't tried running the Gridseed on other computers though, so I am still not ruling out my slow CPU as the problem, I never tried on other PC because I have seen others run Gridseed with much simpler host (rpi, etc).

Hey everyone, noobie here. Decided to join BTC mining just for fun and not for making money (though it should be good too). I used to do a lot of Folding and SETI back in the days, and when I saw some "affordable" ASIC miners, I decided to jump in and got myself a measly 4Gh total (2 USB Antminer U2)

So some questions here, I am using MultiMiner using the ASIC (I disabled GPU option) and it says I have 2Gh on each (under "Current" column), with 1.5Gh (under "Effective ") and total Gh shows as "3.1". These values fluctuate as well but not too far from those (give or take .1 to .2 difference). However, whenever I check the webpage, my hashrate shows less than 1Gh (i.e 875Mh as of last 10 rounds). I have been running them for 24Hrs now, so I don't know how many rounds that is.

My specs:
Two(2) Antminer U2 (2Ghz each), plugged to USB hub. No errors ($30 each), not overclocked
Host PC is an old Centrino laptop, running 2Ghz CPU, Win7 2GB RAM, connected to net with old WiFi (802.11g)
I use Stratum protocol
MultiMiner software, calling BFGMiner with standard parameters on COM3 and COM4

* So is it normal I get less than 1Ghz for 10rounds?
* Is using an old laptop on old WiFi a bad idea? (I can watch Netflix HD movies without hiccup, but huge file transfer is a no-no)
* Should I run these ASICs 24x7? Or do they die fast if I do run it like that?
* Should I wait for a week to get my actual hashrate?
* Why do my score keeps getting reset?

Thank you and sorry for noob questions
