Don't enable 4G encoding unless you've 4 or more cards.
Install GPU1 and drivers.  Do it in safe mode and using DDU.  Reboot into windows normal mode.  Check GPU1 works fine.
Reboot to safe mode on next restart and plugin GPU2 and see if it gets detected in device manager and proceed to normal boot.  test mining/etc.
Proceed in similar way and once you've 4th card plugged in enable 4G encoding while booting.

Nope, didn't work, already tried that. Despite all my efforts not to let it go, I've decided to send it to RMA... 4 to 8 weeks to wait...

Hey everyone !

I'm facing a problem with a, ASUS Z270-P mobo, and a SAPPHIRE VEGA 64 graphic card. I've been following closely this tutorial : http://vega.miningguides.com/ and yet, after 2 days of countless installs, BIOS settings, DDU abusing, I just can't get it working. Like not even got close to it.

I read somewhere that these particular mobos are pretty difficult to get running. I've only used H81, so far, and as all seems to point to this very part of the machine, I was wondering if anyone had troubles with it, and could share his experience [and eventually the solution]

+ Mobo BIOS up-to-date [but read somewhere, once, it had to be downgraded to earlier versions]

+ BIOS Setup :

-----DMI Max Link Speed -> Gen2/Gen3
-----PCIEX16_1 link speed -> Gen 2/Gen3
-----PCI Express Configuration -> Gen 2/Gen3
-----Enabled(above 4G)

+ Fresh W10 install [UEFI]

+ Blockchain driver - Inevitably fails with BSOD atikmpag.sys issue [both W7 and W10] before finishing

Any help ?

I have a rig of 5 x gtx 1080ti and one vega56 (flashed as vega64) working on this mainboard
actually everything working good from the first time as I added the vega
hm.
try this one, remove all vegas, start your rig on internal vga, flash new bios, load defaults, save restart
then enter bios and set 4G decoding and every where PCIE GEN2, disable sound and serial port
add through riser one Vega = check it would work, if yes add one by one the rest

Yep, thanks. Have tried that all already. The GPU also stopped working as main display, and same results on a H81 mobo, so basically... RMA'd

Damn !

Not 4, not 6 not 8 of them.

One.

One, only...

Seems like it's the problem comes from the mother board [still in this state of strong denial, that the GPU should go to RMA] and I've only used H81, so far. I'm not familiar with this very Z270-P model, but never expected THAT much difficulty to make it work...

+ Mobo BIOS up-to-date ver.0812 [should I downgade it ?]

+ BIOS Setup :

-----DMI Max Link Speed -> Gen2/Gen3
-----PCIEX16_1 link speed -> Gen 2/Gen3
-----PCI Express Configuration -> Gen 2/Gen3
-----Enabled(above 4G)
-----Few stuff like HD audio disabled, and so on...

+ Fresh W10 install [UEFI]

+ Device manager detects the new hardware

+ Blockchain driver - Inevitably fails with BSOD atikmpag.sys issue [both W7 and W10] before finishing

+ Tried every single PCIe port

+ Changed riser enough times to get pretty confident in the fact that the problem doesn't come from this part

Any help ?

Failover really IS an issue. Sure, flypool doesn't go down very often, but what a pain in the nuts when you wake up and see your rigs idling... I don't really get why the re-connect attempts only last 10 minutes...

48 hours running straight, so far so good.

On top of the hashrate improvement, I find the global hashrate more stable. Less differences per round. With EWBF, I was getting highs @7.6Ksols/s and lows @5.8Ksols/s. Not sure if it has to be put on ZM's credit, but it's a fact.

Another suggestion, same as with EWBF, it would be pretty nice to have an option for TDP per GPU. If it's useless to almost all experienced users, it's always good to have that information handy in a single window, not having to run NVIDIA-SMI. And it does impress my girlfriend, who thinks I'm a computer mastermind ¨^^¨

+ Does the temp controller overtake AB fan control, as I understand when OP says "It is recommended to set your fan speed to 100% when using this setting.", or am I totally wrong ? So far, it does not, and fans just run at max speed. I definitely don't want to use 100% fans, they usually run at 45% max, and I'm pretty fine with that.

No it doesn't. ZM's temperature controller is a proper PID-controller - it measures the temperature and adjust the performance continuously. Fans on the GPU use also some kind of controller. So you'll get 2 controlling loops with feedback. So what might happen is: zm lowers the performance -> fan gets slower -> temp rises again -> zm lowers the performance even more -> fan gets slower again .... and so on - something like this or something in between might happen. You don't have to set the fan speed to 100% however it should be set to something constant to avoid 2 controlling loops.

Yep, cool, I'll give it a try.

+ Is there a way to use different colors to separate displayed information ?

Currently not. What information is hard to read currently / should be highlighted?

Maybe 1 colour for the ============ line could be easier to read.

+ Maybe worth implementing an auto-restart function, as during a 1h network maintenance, I found my rigs had exited the program. Short connection shortage restart as soon as it re-connects, but longer ones seem to just exit.

Currently zm retries for about 10min and gives up. This is hardcoded. It exits after 10min such that you'll get notified if you're using notifications on process exit.

I personally don't use it, maybe an opportunity to be a bit less of a lazy fuck, and get things sorted. But I admit that knowing EWBF's reconnecting no matter what makes me a bit more relax. Don't sweat it, we'll manage. You obviously have enough bread on your plate, at the moment...

HUGE thanks to you, for your work, your fast and systematic answers, good support is always much appreciated. More than happy to share my 2%. Hope it makes your work worth it.

Hey, thanks for the good work.

Actually testing it on 2 6x EVGA 1070 rigs. OC settings : PL -65% | Core +120 | Mem +500 | AVG 4.3 sol/W.

So far, the hashrate is improved by 4% compared to EWBF.

Alright...

Essential and legitimate questions being avoided, both here and via email. As much as I wanted to believe in the project and invest, I'm gonna be just out of this one.

GW team SHOULD be on that forum, and clarify points that need to be.

Pretty bad move in the era of the 1000 ICOs, wish you all the best nevertheless Smiley

Hey GW and cryptonomos team !

Quick questions to clear out before jumping in :

+ Do you issue a legal contract stating that you host miners property [link between legit ID and serial number] ?
+ Is there any insurance policy, in case of a non force majeure incident, such as... You know, that sort of stuff... ?
+ Say, somehow another gift from Wu comes up, like Antbleed, do you apply the patches yourselves ?

Thanks for the good work and your transparency policy. This kind of initiative helps cryptos further than offering mining facilities, it makes it trustable.

[getting pretty emtional, here... Cheesy]
1)Could you clarify the question please?
2)Total policy covers $5M for any single claim, and we will increase it as we grow.
3) Yes.

I'm VERY sorry to insist [3rd time, actually] and I'll try to re-phrase my question :

1)Could you clarify the question please?

When purchasing through the Giga-Watt website, do you issue a legal document stating about the fact that that each mining machine belongs to his actual owner ? Or, how can I prove, once purchased, that this very mining machine is mine, and not yours ?

Is there a document, somewhere, that attests this S9, T9, L3+ or Panda miner #60dfe9jq4gtxc3-92 belongs to Mrs Janet SMITH ?

Sorry I have to re-post, but my last question remains legit...

Hey everybody !

Sorry if my question's been asked already, but...

I need to go away, so I setup team viewer in order to remotely manage my rigs from afar. I want to make it even simpler, and automatically start the miner and GPUz softwares. Thing is, I need this all to start exactly 1 minute after the OS finished booting.

I already looked into the windoze task scheduler, but it doesn't offer that precise option, or I couldn't find it.

Any idea on how to delay the miner's start process, and start it all in one click ?

So... there just seems to be no way to use an GTX 970 properly for mining with Win 10 (1703).

after googling and testing for an entire day...

382.33 + CUDA 8.0: 3 MH/s
372.54 + CUDA 6.5: 9.5 MH/s (with P0)
347.52 + CUDA 6.5: 16.5 MH/s (driver won't allow P0 setting)

 Embarrassed

Why don't you switch to Win7, at least to get it out of your head ? 970 DO hash, not the most efficient results, but this GPU is 3 years old already. Like I said, I learned with 2 of them, and was getting 24MH/s per card, @180W [free electricity, I OC'd them to hellish limits]
